Sox @ A'ss Game Thread (4/26 @ 9:05 p.m. CT)
Soxbadger replied to Jabroni's topic in 2005 Season in Review
He tried to round it off to get in a position to throw the guy out at 1b. How is that not trying to do to much? He could of easily just stopped the ball, and then everyone here would be b****ing: Why didnt Harris try to make a play? SB -

He was trying to do to much. Hes a 2nd who was trying to make a gold glove SS play. OMG blame him for the fact Ozzie put him there. Pretty sad. It would be like blaming a every day player for giving up a home run if hes called in to pitch. SB -
They sell Sox sucks t-shirts at Wrigley. They use the 1983 logo, and it says Sux instead of Sox. Perhaps hes never been to either field. SB

The contract is knee only because the risk is a reoccuring injury, not the potential that Maggs may have a completely non-related career ending injury. And if the Tigers try and get out of the contract, they better have a few Dr.s who are willing to under oath state that it is a knee problem, because it will go to court. SB

No closer? Id venture to say that Sox have at minimum 2 players who would be the closer for the Cubs (Shingo Hermanson), and arguably 4 who could do it (Marte Vizcaino). SB

The problem with their comments are: How many playoff games have Jamison and Arenas won? Mav -
Why is everyone so quick to trade a player who has had 2 blown saves in 2 years? SB

Its pretty sad for Fox. He gets a huge chance, but unfortunately it came for a team with Dusty as the manager. Most managers would not put their injury prone closer in for mop up duty, but not Dusty Baker. Terrible use of pitchers, he should be fired. How can anyone have faith in him? SB

I disagree. Arrington is a very similar back to Jones. M Williams is a very similar wr to Mush. Benson and Bradley are compliments to what we already have. SB

Passing on Carnell Williams makes me cry. When you watch him you see Walter Payton. I just hope that Benson pans out. SB

Liked Cadillac more. When Cadillac was injured, Brown started. From what I can tell they are friends and it was just a matter of Cadillac being the number 1 guy. I always question that when I say that I want Brown over Cadillac, but when you look at what Brown could be, it is hard to pass on him. I think it was Gil Hodge who said something actually smart on ESPN last night, College football coaches are out to win college football games, not groom guys for careers in the NFL. Auburn had a pretty good record those years, so why fix something thats not broke? I mean if your team is doing well are you going to switch running backs? SB -
Redskins interested in Bears #4 pick

If we are picking lb, then it would be Johnson or Merriman. I doubt a 4-3 team will take Ware. SB -

Any of these backs would of been the #1 RB last year as well. Where as neither Edwards nor Williams would of been the top WR. SB -

Carnell is flat out sick. The problem is Ronnie Brown may be more flat out sick. The only time I have seen something like this was with Jerome Bettis and Ricky Waters, that is rb's on the same team who had so much potential. SB -

LaDanian Tomlinson. 1300 rushing yards 441 receiving yards 1741 total yards. And that was a down year. The prior two years he put up over 2000 yards. Those are the type of rb's Brown and C. Williams can become. Dominant players. You can split time between 2 rb's because you can control their touches. Thomas Jones is a good back, but one of these rb's could be one of the top 5 NFC rb's for the next few years. There will be a good receiving option available in the 2nd. I mean its a dream, but if Clayton fell, or we traded up for him that is a great compliment to Mush. SB -
Redskins interested in Bears #4 pick

In a draft where the #1 is not even commanding 3 1's, the suggestion that the #4 will command that much is pretty strange. We shall see. SB -
Redskins interested in Bears #4 pick

Ive said that so many times im blue in the face. It is my belief that the Bears will not draft Benson, and that they are just letting all the draft experts give them Benson so that a team like Tampa will not jump them if only Benson and C Williams are available. SB -
Redskins interested in Bears #4 pick
Soxbadger replied to southsider2k5's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
No I really wouldnt. Go through the history of the draft and see how many times the 4th pick has been worth 3 first rounders. The Bears traded their last 4th pick for: 14 and 22, and a 4th rounder 14 and 22, and 4th rounder (116) on the point scale add up to: 1100 (14), 800 (22), and 70 (116) Meaning that the Bears only recieved 1970 points for the 4th pick, which is lower than what they would be getting from the Redskins. ::shrugs:; SB -

From charts Ive looked at 4 is around 2200 points 9 is 1300 25 is 750 200 points is a mid 3rd round pick. So all the Redskins have to do is offer a 2nd round for next year and its a pretty fair trade. No way is the 4 worth 3 1st round picks. SB -

Redskins can always offer next years picks too. Dont forget that Snyder will vasty over pay for something he wants. SB -

I really dont like the 9 selection, and think that its possible the players the Bears want will be gone by then. But, the Bears could trade with the Redskins, and then try and trade back up with the Titans. Through those deals they would have something around, 6, 25, and the Titans 3rd. We would give up our 4 and our 2nd, but for moving back 2 spaces in the draft we will improve from the early second to late first, and also get a free 3rd round pick which we are lacking. If the Redskins are trading up to get M Williams or B Edwards, the Bears at 6 would be gauranteed atleast 1 of the top 3 Rb's were there. And maybe even 2 for them to chose between. SB -

Mock on Comcast had us taking Cedric Benson. Smith, Brown, and Edwards were all of the board. Id hope for Cadillac, but Benson wont be bad either. SB -

Hayes, I agree. If we were looking at Andre Johnson, or some WR that was just flat out sick, then yes I would say WR. But I think we are looking at possibly 3 of the best RB prospects that have come out in a while. Each of them could be one of the top running backs in a few years. To not pick one would hurt the future is my opinion. Harris, You never know. I just think that I would be fine with the Bears picking a WR in round 2. I think that there is a chance that a guy like Clayton or White could slip to us. Also it leaves the possibility of Matt Jones, or Heath Miller if they are available. Not to mention that Reggie Brown, Terrence Murphy, Alex Smith, etc. Maybe even trade back for a guy like Mathis. SB -

Arrington is a pretty big reach at the top of the 2nd, dont you think? Hell going over the new Scouts draft they have Arrington a round ahead of Fason, crazy SB -

jackie, Starting RB's are generally more valuable to a team than a wr in terms of production. RB touches the ball usually atleast 50% of the time. Harris, What if Fason is not there? We already have upgraded our WR corp when we signed Mush. I completely forgot about Berrian who I think is a good wr as well, which will put the Bears into 5-6 wr category if we pick one even in the first or second. Would you pass up Tomlinson just because you had a productive back? SB
