Trading Rowand and saving Garland would not be the worst offset in my mind. It would mean they were trying to make Pod and Willie the next Pierre and Castillo. SB

Sweeney or Anderson is to much. Garland, Everett, Marte, and the very most Diaz or Munoz. Arizona really does not know what its doing, and if it becomes the Sox are the only possibility it is more than a fair trade. It all depends on if Arizona has to trade RJ. If it can keep him, then there is no way we should trade for him, because they are going to be overwhelmed. If Arizona has to get rid of his salary, then we should try and trade because we will be in a better position. (EDIT) And if it gets the deal done, Borchard in any of the combinations. SB

They said starting OF. Everett would start for Arizona, and makes only 4mil. SB

A few things: First, it confirms that RJ and Reinsdorf have a personal relationship that may be part of the reason the Sox have thought hed waive his no trade clause. I had heard that RJ's kids trick or treat at Reinsdorf's house in Az, so who knows. Second, can Carl Everett count as a starting of? Because if he can, that solves so many of our problems. Gload can play 1b, Konerko DH, and the deal is not so bad, cause otherwise wed have to include Pods or Rowand, which just makes no sense. And if they want Marte, the offer is: Garland, Everett, Marte. If they really pressed, add Diaz or Munoz. SB

3 year 17 and Odalis would be ours. The money for starting pitchers is starting to dry up, and he unlikely will get a bid from the Yankees or Red Sox. Also he was decimated by the Cardinals, and there should be some concerns on how deep into games he can go. But he is an excellent pitcher if you have a bullpen deep enough where you can take him out after 6. SB

If we get a quality prospect instead of Ginter I will actually be happier. It made no sense to get Ginter unless we were trading Crede. Crede and Ginter are both about the same in what they potentially could do next year, and I think Crede could in the end be the better player. SB

Its hard to tell cause its an NWA member when they were really young. I want to say its Dre, but on the same token it could be Easy. So my guess is, Dre, Easy, or Ice Cube. SB

For Anyone Who Though We Could Sign Benitez...

At $7mil a season, Im glad that the Sox stayed away from this one. SB -
Lets not confuse the court for castle doctrine in the law, because I doubt any lawyer or judge will consider protecting a basketball court as priviliged as protecting your house or your family, which is where the castle doctrine originated. As for whether it was self-defense, part of self-defense can include the protection of your friend, if a person in the same position as you would have thought that your friend was in danger, legitimate or not. I have not seen the fight, but self-defense is not that hard to prove. With out seeing it, I can not really give an opinion either way, but I will say that I doubt there is much done criminally about the fight, but that there may be alot of civil lawsuits. The difference, beyond a reasonable doubt and preponderance of the evidence. The first standard for crimes, is much harder to prove than the second standard for civil actions. IE: If you have even a slight belief that what O'Neal did was self-defense you can not convict him, this is not true in civil cases. Also, a criminal case is brought by the district attorney, and not by the fan. So it will be the DA's choice whether or not to prosecute, and you can bet if they go after O'Neal, they will make huge examples of any of the fans as well. Id give my opinion on the verdicts and what defenses may be raised, but I never saw the fight, so I can only say so much. SB

This article is lame. How many Boras clients has Beane signed? How many Boras clients did the Marlins have? How many did the Red Sox have? 1 agent, does not make or break a team. And in fact, you could make a case that many teams would of been more successful had they not decided to sign a Boras client... Milwood, Maddux, A-Rod, ... SB

I tried to search down the ownership, but the only records I can get are of the corporate structure. But here is one interesting thing I could find about the ownership: SB

There have been plenty of gay characters; The 2 gay guys Homer moved in with when he thought Marge had been regretting their marriage. The guy who said "Zap" and then Homer thought Bart was turning gay. And Waylan Smithers, who in many episodes has been referred to as gay. When I first heard of this my response was Lenny or Carl, which may be the twist. SB

Wisconsin is a really easy place to play too. Its a pretty pathetic list. SB

Crack down on what? Negotiating contracts. He bluffed and the Rangers bought it. Should they crack down if a GM says: "Ive got a few offers for my player" when really there are none? Judging the market is part of the game. (Edit) Damn Rex posted like the same thing while I was typing. SB

I think Frank makes the hall of fame, just because he does so many things offensively, that in the era of new statists, OBP, etc, Thomas was a king. SB

I would say that I am a rarity on these boards. I have been a member since December 17, 2002, and I only have 602(3) posts. That is an average of .9 posts a day, or just about 1 a day. I do not have thousands of posts, and I really am not part of any clique, and I just do not see the favoritism that you are trying to suggest. I have been a part of boards where there is favoritism, there are boards where you would get banned for posting your first post. Any dissent was silenced. You are allowed to post on a free board, where they allow you to pretty much discuss anything you can imagine about the White Sox, and your biggest problem is that they ganged up on you because you have posted a few errors. ::shrugs:: Thats life, if you think youll find some where that people are not going to go after weakness, and try to show you up, your mistaken. As for respect, no thread like this will ever make people change their mind. In fact there is no way you can force people to respect you, even if you are the smartest most enlightened baseball mind in the universe, people will still have to chose whether they respect you. For the most part, this community gives out respect and credit where it is due. Im not friends with anyone on this board, I dont pm them, or know them, but I have never really felt disrespected. Once or twice people have argued against me, but thats just differing opinions for the most part, and generally their arguments were based on facts, instead of saying something like "You only have 600 posts, what do you know." I generally dont post in this forum, but I felt that it would be an injustice to these boards if I did not say that in over the 2 years I have been here, I have felt this was one of the most welcoming and respectful boards that I have ever been a part of. Cant win if you cant recruit. SB

They should of patented James' closer by committee, that really worked out for them. SB

I dont think the current collective bargaining agreement allows players to rework deals that give the player less money. Remember A-Rod could not go to Boston because they were trying to devalue his contract. Sammy is getting paid, and unless the Cubs eat over $10mil, its going to be by the Cubs. SB

Mota would be nice in the bullpen. SB

Yes, they would be 3 athletic outfielders who can run and get from 1st to 3rd. The only problem would be that we would be taking on 2 players who are supposedly "trouble", and our club house in the past has not been the picture of cohesiveness. Guillen in my opinion, is much less of a risk, because most of his problem comes from his desire to play hard and win, which people some times can take over the line. SB

Its really to early for me to say what pitcher I would want the Sox to put their money behind. I will say that I would rather that they traded for an AL pitcher, then sign an NL pitcher in free agency. At this point, we really dont know who will be available for trade, or who the Sox are wiling to trade. Just lately it seems you can get good bargains for hitters in free agency, where as pitchers are hit and miss and usually cost more money then they are worth. And the math was 5.8 innings per start since All-Star break, which is okay, just he may command more than that is worth. SB
-
I have serious concerns about National League pitchers coming into the AL, especially a pitcher who since the All-Star break has only averaged 5.8 innings per game. Also, he very rarely went over 90-100 pitches as he only faced 44 batters after the 91st pitch, compared to 92 batters between 76-90, and over 100 batters between all the pitch counts less than 76. Are we going to be able to go to the bullpen after 6 innings every time Perez starts? Just doesnt seem for the price he will command, that he fits into the White Sox plans. Unless we get a dominate closer, in which we could go: 7th Marte 8th Shingo 9th Closer. Otherwise, Im not really sold. SB

Bradley for Borchard? And I cant believe that the Dodger's are not standing up for Bradley, if he was any other player, especially a well liked one, there would of been a huge stir about a fan assualting a player. I mean, throwing a beer bottle at some one is assualt. Where as Bradley was just being stupid and caught up in emotion. Mav

I dont mind the Sox moving to the East, I think the ownership will do what it takes to keep them competitive. Outside of the Braves and Yankees, only the White Sox have gone as long with out a top 10 pick, which means we pretty much get a average to good team every year. Sure the last 10 we have failed to meet our own expectations, but many teams and fans would accept 2nd place and a .500 average as a successfull year. To most of our fans, winning a World Series is the only acceptable accomplishment. And the last few years we have played terrible against the AL Central, but better against the AL East. Who knows, as Steff so aptly said, its not the talent, its in their heads. SB
