Disheartening Article: Magglios GAWN in 05.
Soxbadger replied to Flash Tizzle's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I searched as hard as I could, but I could not find any article that talked about a 4 year 58 million dollar contract, the only 4 year mention was this: And that was from 4/14/04 Chi. Trib If you give me more information I will find the article, or the one you remember reading. But the 4/58 is coming up blank, as in the Tribune, Sun Times, and not one of the other 6,000 sources that were searched came up with any article that had Ordonez, 4 years, and 58 million in it. I dont think your lieing, just might of skimmed the article, any information will help, as it only takes a seconds to get the search done. SB -
Because only Asians eat sushi? It may be a little higher end, but there are sushi restaurants all over the city, and I think that some people might enjoy it. Also, Chicago does have an asian population, maybe not as big as the West Coast, but big enough where they could make an impact on attendance. SB

At the beginning of the year, I thought Beltran was one of the best MLB players with some of the best upside. But even I would not consider a Miguel + Crede for Beltran trade. If there was a serious deal for Beltran, they could have 1, and there choice of a top pitching or top outfielding prospect, plus a lower level of whatever they did not choose (if they picked Rauch, they could get lower level of, if they took Reed, lower level pitcher). That would be the basic structure I would offer, with different level of players depending on who they chose etc. The reality is, even that seems to be overpaying for a player who we really will have almost no liklihood of signing. Might as well get a player we desperately need if we are going to start sending away that much. SB

After reading a few other websites, Magg's may not be as valuable as he thinks. Besides for Beltran, another switch hitting outfielder is supposed to be a free-agent... Lance Berkman. In many teams eyes, Maggs will be the 3rd best of on the market, not as great of a position as he would like. SB -
lol 8 Pierre and Castillo were left handed. Lee, Cabrera, Pudge, Lowell, Conine, and Gonzalez were all right handed. And I dont think the Mets are trading anyone unless they are buyers, so Glavine, Lieter, are probably dreams unless they experience a melt down. SB

Try not to BOTCH this one. Sox .vs. Phillies

The game is tied, you have to keep Buerhle in we cant just burn our pen. He could pitch effectively another 3-4 innings and save our pen, and win the game. SB -
I dont talk about the validity of rumors because the fact that they are rumors suggests that most are not valid at all, or just slight truth. Also if you were a GM, would you really want to tell alot of people what your trade was? Id want people to think the exact opposite of what I was doing. SB
-
I know Sheets can be outstanding, but if I had to pick one I would take Sabathia. I just really like the way he pitches, and think that he will be oustanding the rest of his career, and be some one you can always count to pitch 180 innings + and keep your team in the game. I just cant see why the Indians would want to trade him. SB

Reisndorf would never say "Wealthy owner's like myself." If you had attributed a quote that said something about how poor owners were, it would have sounded better. SB

Watching the MLB clip on him, during the man on first base pictures, he actually had multiple moves to first, and even faked looking home on his pick off move. I was wondering what effect his high leg kick might have on base stealing, but it also seemed to be able to shorten his motion home. Consistently hitting low 90s as a left handed high schooler, I would say that signing him should be a priority. SB

League #2 official thread
Soxbadger replied to Gene Honda Civic's topic in PTC/Contest/Fantasy Board
You have guys I want, just not sure if we could get a deal done. If you want to start talking trade, just send me an offer or 2, to see what you are interested in etc. I like to trade, so, I guess Im always open to trading. SB -
It looks like the Sox took some reaches, and easier to sign guys, so I think their plan was to have some cash to spend on this guy. Atleast I hope. SB

lol Thats what I get for trying to remember something off the top of my head from like 20 minutes ago. Went to Future Sox after I posted to see the "Cowboys" on his uniform. With all the football talk I just expect an OU player. lol SB
-
I thought Fields went to OU not OSU? SB
-
I think that was in reference to a fight. We have drafted a lot of big guys. SB

Bo Jackson was a crappy baseball player. Tony Gwynn sucked and should of stayed with Basketball. Frank Thomas is the worst though, I mean played football in College, never developed. Next? (lol as a side note, Frank and Bo played on the same team at Auburn.) SB
-
The article was all about problems with his brothers playing time lol. Seems there was never any problem with Gio. SB

I thought the Sox would take 2 lefties, Giovanni suprises me, but reading the report Im happy. Perhaps everyone else staying away from high school pitchers let this one slip to us. I read Szymanski had 5 k's the other day the first time hes seen better players this year. Maybe some scouts questioning whether or not hell transfer to higher levels of play? SB
-
Doh I knew talking about these players would get them drafted! SB
-
Jackson and Vargas. Jackson and Howell. Vargas and Howell. Who cares, 2 of those 3 lefties would be an outsanding supplemental draft. SB
-
With Jackson and Vargas both still available, I think the Sox should get a chance at atleast 1. I hope. Well I see Howell is available too, so I think with the next pick the Sox should get a quality lh college starter. SB

Willie probably wont put up the power numbers that Soriano will, but there is a chance if Willie keeps his swing as short and quick as it has been, that he will hit over .300 consistently. As for stealing, he just needs to practice, and Ozzie needs to make it a priority. SB

NBC already went back to Arena League Football. Fox seems to be talking like this is their programming for the night. SB

He had some clutch hits last year, but I also remember him looking terrible at some times. I dont think he fits in with the Sox, I dont think they have a roster spot that they want to give to another 1b, and I dont think they want to lose Gload who is a left handed bat who can play 1b and the outfield. If I had to chose today Gload or Simon, I would chose Gload. SB
