We were in the Sidney Ponson highlights... SB

I think that its completely fair to discount one outing if it is such a statistical aberration to warrant it. Also best case scenario what would you project him to be in the big leagues? SB
-
That sucks. Its good that your okay, but I would write a letter to the White Sox about what happened and how you alereted security and they did nothing. I mean its one thing to say they knew nothing, its an entirely different matter if some one points out where a problem is. SB

I have a feeling that Maggs is going to play a significant role in who we acquire. SB

Well I had wanted Pettite and you snagged him before I could pick. Yeah Benitez has been outstanding, but I thought you might want another closer just in case Benitez isnt as stellar. SB -

I Need Some Help on a Question!! Please...
Soxbadger replied to elrockinMT's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Announcers say it at the game, maybe not at the opening but I thought elrockin just wanted some fun things to say. The ticket says the boiler plate, if you break the rules your ticket is void, blah blah. SB -

All fans running onto the field will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. That one everyone likes to hear. SB -
We have a 5th starter, but if we can pick up an elite starter we may have a team with a chance to win in the playoffs. The A's have Zito, Mulder, and Hudson, Gammons (who is not an authority, but has better knowledge than me) suggested Zito might be the one they trade eventhough he just signed an extension. We have what it takes to get an elite pitcher who can help our staff for the next few years, thats why I want to trade for a 5th starter, eventhough id hope hed be our #1 or 2. SB
-
I had confidence in Schoe, and thought he would improve as a starter because he is much worse when runners are on than when no one is. Also its good to hear that Schoe told Guillen the truth, instead of trying to force himself to go on. SB

Koch is no longer the closer...please
Soxbadger replied to Ozzietheairedale's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I will say one thing, Shingo also reminds me of Foulke in that his out pitch is the change up. He just cant double up on a change up when your first pitch is a ball. If they swing the first time you can, but if they take and it misses, he has to give them a fastball even if its a ball. I think he can be a very dependable closer if some one helps him learn the batters that he is facing and their tendencies. Because I think he can exploit alot of players weaknesses. SB -
All I could say was. Woah. We won and thats that. SB
-
If that was 2 change ups in a row, Shingo just cant do that, especially if the first wasnt a strike or swung at. Lopez was just sitting on that pitch. SB

All I can say about Harris is, he has a plan every time he goes up to the plate, and if he makes contact enough times each game he is going to get his hits. Tonight is important for Harris, with talk of Jose coming back, he has to feel the pressure starting to mount for him to preform even more. No matter what I think Harris is a servicable lead-off hitter, and the best one we have on the Sox currently (not including minor league talent). But they eventually do have to play the game, so everything will be answered. SB

Uribe has had 2 errors in 6 games at 2b, while Harris has had 0... How can you be so sure that Uribe is going to great at 2b? Prior to this year he only played 11 games there, in 6 this year he has 2 errors... Im not even commenting on Jose's defense, Im just saying that Harris is the superior defensive 2b, and with time could be the superior defensive CF. I never touted him as a gold glover, just the best we have. Why do you compare these players to people not on our roster? Its not like Im saying I want Harris over Castillo, what I want is Harris to get more at bats than Rowand. In terms of at bats I think it should go: Valentin, Uribe, Harris, Rowand. Uribe worked his way into the starting line up, Harris is working his way into it, yet Rowand just gets a free pass for 3 years? Come on, hes had the most time of Uribe or Harris, and hes doing the least this year. SB
-
Rowand has had 3 years, Harris has had not even a full season. Harris is hitting better than Rowand right now that is a fact you seem to forget. Today if you had to chose who you would want facing a right handed pitcher Harris or Rowand unless you needed a HR to win, you pick Harris easily. So why sit Harris when a RHP is going when you can easily bench Rowand who has done nothing this year to prove that he is going to break out any time soon. Harris on the other hand in the last 7 days has shown that hes turning the corner. On days leftys pitch Rowand can start in center, and some days have Valentin rest, some days Harris, and on RHP some days Uribe wil sit so Rowand can play. If they rotate all 4 they will get the most possible out of the situation, but if they just keep letting Rowand run out there every day, we are going to have a hole in the bottom of the order. SB
-
I think the team would play the best with Jose, Uribe, and Harris. Im just tired of all the Harris bashing, he may not be the Jaun Pierre, but he gives us a spark, he tries hard, and he has a great attitude. At 2b hes pretty much made every play asked of him 0 errors at 2b compared to 2 by Uribe (3 total, 1 at SS), and 4 by Jose. Harris has done nothing to be benched, and if a man has to be sat to replace Jose, why not consider Rowand? Rowand just has not been there so far this year, and I think if he gets a chance to get out of the funk maybe he comes back. But you cant just keep throwing out a cold player when you have a hot one who can easily replace him. SB

Its awesome thanks. Next time should be interesting as I could of easily gotten beaten in every category had a few things gone differently. But Ill take the win, because I gotta work my way back up now after my team had a real big letdown. SB -
G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS BA OBP SLG OPS W. Harris: LAST 7 DAYS 6 20 2 7 2 0 0 4 3 1 1 0 .350 .417 .450 .867 Uribe: LAST 7 DAYS 6 23 5 12 2 0 2 4 3 3 1 1 .522 .577 .870 1.446 Rowand: LAST 7 DAYS 4 12 2 2 1 0 0 1 1 3 0 0 .167 .231 .250 .481 If I have to sit one of these 3 players, you are saying we should sit the under .200 ba, under .250 obp for the over .300 over 400 obp lead off man? Clearly Rowand at his coldest can not outhit Harris, seeing as he only has more strike outs then Harris, while Harris has more BB, SB, RBI, H... Your delusional if you think Harris is off this team before Rowand, we have Reed just waiting in the minors to take Rowands job, right now Perez is pushing Rowand for playing time. He was given the CF job this year, and hes done absolutely nothing to keep it. I gave him his chances and kept saying he could be good, but hes had his chance, and we have 3 players out playing him, and why should they sit? Harris started off slow, but 7 hits in 20 ab, with a BB is good for a lead off man. Also he has been doing a great job of getting deeper into the counts and allowing the batters behind him to get a better look. I just think the team will be better overall if Harris, Uribe, and Valentin are playing, right now I think Valentin is the most expendable as he is the oldest and highest paid. The reality of the situation is, Valentin is getting beat out by Uribe and Harris is doing just enough to make Valentin expendable, while Rowand is doing really nothing, and might get out of his slump if hes facing more lefty's while Harris plays against rightys. SB

The Sox are 8-3 with Valentin lets look at his indivdual contributions to those wins: 4/5 Sox 5, Royals 4 Uribe 0/4 Jose 0/4 4/9 Sox 9, Yankees 3 Harris 1/4 1r, 2rbi Jose 1/3 2 r, 2bb 4/10 Sox 10, Yanks 3 Harris 3/5 3 r, 2 rbi Jose 1/5 1r, 2 rbi 4/13 Sox 12, Royals 5... Uribe 2/5 2 r, 2 rbi Jose 2/5 1 r, 2 rbi 4/14 Sox 10, Royals 9... Uribe 3/4 2 rbi Jose 1/5 4/15 Sox 6, Royals 5 Uribe 2/3 1 r Jose 2/4 1 r, 1 rbi, 1bb 4/16 Sox 4, TB 1 Harris 1/5 Jose 0/4 4/17 Sox 5, TB 0 Harris 2/5 1r, 1rbi Jose 2/4 2r, 1 rbi Those are the 8 wins with Jose... Statistically 4 of those games Jose was better than Uribe or Harris, 3 of them he was worse, and 1 of them he was the same. In only 1 game did Jose's contribution count for a win, while Uribe counted for 2 wins in this same time period. The whole idea that Jose makes the Sox a better team because of record is quite ridiculous because many of the things that determine wins or losses are outside of his control. Since losing Jose the Sox have never lost a 1 run game, and have ony lost by 2 runs 2 times. If you think Jose would of contributed for 3 runs on top of what Harris and Uribe already contributed those games, well Jose is not Barry Bonds or Pujols and you just cant think he impacts the game that much. Your theories are based on your own feelings about players, thus why you love Jose, while you always talk down about Harris. :;shrugs:: If I could trade Jose today and have Harris Uribe as my middle infield for the next 3 years, I would do it ina second provided I got some SP or RP help. That being said, Harris in CF is the best option to keep our best players on the field at this moment. Harris, Uribe, and Valentin are all arguably contributing, Rowand needs to get his act together, hes not fast, hes not that great defensively, and hes not hitting that well. What is he contributing? Dont know where this post disapeared to so if It comes up again im sorry; Gammons latest article said Beltran was 8 years 140 mil or 17.5 a year. If the reality of his price range is around 14 mil a year and we have not signed Maggs long term, I would hope the Sox seriously consider Beltran. I dont think the Royals would trade him to us, unless we overwhelmed them, which would only come back to hurt us in the end. SB
