  1. From this intro I thought the Cubs were maybe playing themselves. lol SB
  2. Ribbie, I have steals to trade if you are looking. SB
  3. I just am excited about seeing some trades. I really like my team, but I really like to trade. SB
  4. lol Hey a lot of my players got stolen while they were qued up. And you got Brandon Webb, which hurt. Also, make an offer, Im always willing to listen. SB
  5. How much time do we get per pick? And good luck to everyone, SB
  6. Ill be there. Now I hope the draft goes how I like. SB
  7. There are 2 distinct issues here. 1) Legality of steriods, because most of these are designer drugs, they are not technically illegal, and you can not prosecute some one for doing something wrong prior to it being illegal. Therefore what has happened in the past is irrelevant, unless there is proof a player using an illegal substance and is within the statute of limitations. 2) What can congress do? Most simply, whatever they feel like. If they want to make an issue of steriods and baseball, baseball will not have a foot to stand on. The Govt can get the DEA on it, having them investigate locker rooms, having them look into illegal steriod sales, etc. Some steriods are a controlled substances, so if congress wanted they could start sending players to jail provided they catch them in possession. As for what they could do to the union, off the top of my head: Fine them, or more than likely go after them for other reasons that are not drug related. The Union is standing against United States public policy (drug abuse is illegal), and most court decisions usually do not support such sentiments. And the labor union will have its biggest problem with trying to say that this has to stand because it was in the labor agreement, seeing as eventhough its a valid contract, you cant enforce a term of a contract that term is illegal. IE: I sign a contract to be employed by MLB, but they will only pay me under the counter, and part of my payment is in illegal drugs. Courts would just laugh if I said that they had to stand with that contract because it was validly entered into and with consideration. If I was the Union, I would inquire into how far the govt. is going to push this issue, and if they say they are going to keep it up, I would immediately change the steriods policy. Otherwise it is possible that the entire MLBPA could be dissolved, and I promise if they have to start over again, there will be a salary cap. SB
  8. I played little league with his younger brother. He was from around Chicago. SB
  9. Ive been checking every day, just no ones been posting so Ive been quiet too. I assume when we get closer to the draft things will pick up SB
  10. My statement is nothing against A-Row, but if Borchard starts to really turn it up a notch, he could have a real impact on our line up. I hope A-Row puts up damn fine competition, just if Borchard has a heigher cieling (I hate using cliches like that), I hope he wins the job. SB
  11. Hmmm I dont know if its the drugs, but Im seeing Borchard as our starting CF by the end of the year. SB
  12. 94, I meant that Green was integral to the Redskins overall success and helped be a staple at CB for a winning team. Where as Sosa has played for a below average team most of career and who cares if you are hitting HR's when your team is losing 6-0. Also Sanders is one of the best CB to play the game, he just was a self promoter. SB
  13. Hes all about winning so much, I bet he is going to start playing whatever music gets his team mates the most pumped up. Sosa has never cared about winning, say what you will about Frank, but when the game was on the line I always wanted him up. Where as when the game is on the line, I always want Sosa up. Winning players dont take home run swings when a single will win, those are me type players. SB
  14. Yeah I know I missed the point. When I reread it I realized that, but by then it was to late. And yeah you are right that most wont recognize Green, I can picture his face but thats only because I watch so much sports that my brain has no room for other information. Although unlike Sosa, Deion had McCarver up his ass for playing in both a baseball game and a football game. I never did understand that, how do you attack a player for wanting to fufill both roles, that almost seems like he did not want to let anyone down. No one would ever attack prescious Sammy though, because he is so loveable. Screw Sosa, hes not even worth considering. Its the media that treats Frank and Sammy differently. SB
  15. Darrel Green? Um Sosa is not even in Greens league let alone should be mentioned in the same breath. Sosa is happy because hes over paid. If Frank was making the money Sosa is making I doubt hed say anything and be all smiles too. Although how many times have you heard players complaining that Frank Thomas takes over the clubhouse and plays latin music no matter what? And Darrel Green rocks, he was Deion before Deion played. Just he was not as self promoting. Remember Deion came up with most of his own nicknames, and took limos to games at FSU. SB
  16. Yeah its a joke, but with a name like Fabio Castro, how could I pass up. SB
  17. Its good to see Fidel's son Fabio doing so well. I know Id buy a Castro jersey. SB
  18. Cubs fans are so stupid. Bernie Mac cursed them, remember during the 7th inning stretch he called them the "champs". Thats a major screw up, and I wondered why Bernie was at a Cubs game I always thought he was a Sox fan. Until they blow up Bernie Mac the Cubs will not win a World Series, playing our song is just the theme to this year, its the year of the White Sox. SB
  19. Player B is a 3b who people want to move to 2b, and will make $5mil a year, and is coming off an ACL tear. He has similar stats except for 15 more sb. Player A most players want to run out of town. FPCT G GS Ch INN PO A E DP RF ZR SS .969 143 136 412 1,200.0 223 395 20 96 4.640 .893 (single season) Player B people want to sign to a 2 year contract and he has yet to recover. Now lets guess who they are: Player A is none other than Jose Valentin, for some reason I can get his fielding stats on ESPN otherwise I would of posted other positions too. Player B is Boone. Once again, I dont see what the fascination with Boone is? Its like a crazy grass is greener on the other side of the fence scenario. We cant just over pay these average players, we can get the same production from young cheap players who can produce. If we are going to sign a free agent 2b next year, I hope we either get the best available, or get one who accept a really cheap contract in the Everrett, Alomar, or Vina mold. We dont have this money to throw around, we need to make plans that give us the absolute maximum payroll flexibility. SB
  20. Brando, Ill pass then. Next year who knows what the free agent market will be like, who knows how Harris will play, who knows if we might find a diamond in the rough at 2b in our minor leagues. If we dont have money for today, we cant spend money for tomorrow. It is just not good business sense. Lets say we sign him for 2 years, and his knee never heals and he never plays again. Now next year we are sitting on a 2mil contract that is doing nothing. We dont have that money, $2mil is 1/30th of our payroll. We need that money to sign starters. But its all perception, and my perception is if we start giving out contracts to people that are doing nothing, we are going to lose in the end. Not to mention if Boone thinks he will be 100% and command money as a FA, why the hell would he sign with us for cheap? SB
  21. If we did not have $1.75mil to sign Todd Walker who could play 2b this year, is a lh, and has no knee injury. Where are we going to get the money to sign Boone? I guess eventhough we are over budget we should spend on players who wont even suit up? Ill pass, if he rehabs and is 100% next offseason, Id consider him but, Ill take a wait and see approach. SB
  22. Thomas is my favorite player. Regardless of what happens he will always be an icon of the White Sox to me. When he does well it is the best feeling, and when he struggles it is the most frustrating. I hope he does awesome this year and no longer him ending his career in a Sox uniform is in doubt. Hopefully he is a lifer. SB
  23. So because he is on a good team now he doesnt have to try as hard. Well, its an interesting strategy, I really hope it works out for him. SB
  24. I knew it, when I read the thread that Frank was reporting early, I was going to bet that you would see another article stirring up s*** with the White Sox. Lets face it, the Chicago media is less than reliable when it comes to reporting the White Sox, seeing as it is in the best interest of one of our 2 newspapers if our team does not do well it is kind of a conflict of interest. Oh well, maybe even the players are starting to get the point, that the media is out to try and stir s*** up because it could care less if the Sox finished last, as long as their beloved Cubs were doing well. I got a good feeling about this year, because for some reason there is always an uncanny justice in sports. SB
  25. I think last season was the proverbial kick in the teeth for the White Sox. They wanted to win that division, and after the All-Star break they made a damn fine effort. But they were so pitiful the beginning of the season that it took such a toll just to get in playoff contention that they lost steam at the end. Add to that big time free agents were not signed and most of the big name players were actively talked about in trade talks. Not to mention you are consistently treated with disrespect and contempt by your own cities media, and you are constantly second fiddle. Maybe the players are just so fed up that they are finally taking responsibility for their own actions and showing up to camp early because they want to win and are going to work hard and not just rely on their talent. Some times things just click, but I know if I was in these players position, I would be pissed as hell and feel there was only one way to fix things, tear this league apart. SB
