  1. If the theory was to give Crochet work with men on base for the future I actually dont hate the plan. But Im not sure that they were thinking that hard.
  2. I feel like they are going to move him at some point. I dont know anything about NBA salary cap stuff, but I always feel like expiring contracts have some sort of value.
  3. Charlie Watts, luckily had the opportunity to see him play twice. There will never be another.
  4. I hope he gets his act together, but maybe Im old school and think players need to earn their reputation. I personally don't like handing a guy a job because he has been bad at another one. It really is Hahn's fault, Kimbrel is no Smoltz.
  5. Cubs would have given away Kimbrel cheap before this season. Maybe you were watching a different player but in no world is 6.5 and 5.2 better than 1.8 and 1.78 Cubs got lucky he was hot for a garbage team going no where. But 3 years ago Kuechel was better than Gio, so I assume hes your ace.
  6. Well from the beginning Ive said it was a stupid plan. But you dont double down and make even more bad decisions. If Kimbrel a "HOF" Griffey in his prime cant switch to set up, why can lowly Hendriks? Wont we just be in the same position with forcing a closer into a set up role? Hendriks is more important to the Sox, you cant potentially damage him for Kimbrel. Hahn possibly messed this up big time.
  7. Maybe or it messes with Hendriks and Kimbrel keeps playing like he did in the previous 2 seasons. I know people seem to think Kimbrel cant miss, but Im pretty sure prior to this season the Sox preferred Hendriks. Now we are going to possibly mess around with Hendriks because we have to justify the Kimbrel trade? People keep comparing Kimbrel to Griffey Jr in his prime on this board, time for him to prove it.
  8. So you're going to demote the closer you signed this off-season for a guy who cant perform just because maybe that will make him play better? You dance with the one who brought you. No point in messing up Hendricks because Kimbrel cant do his job.
  9. There are consequences for when people dont perform. And for all the talk of how could they do this to Kimbrel, they pulled Gio at 90 pitches and only giving up 3 hits. You could easily argue that Gio should have been allowed to start and then have Hendricks for the 9th. But they gave Kimbrel the chance.
  10. Im starting to get a strange feeling TLR may actually prefer a classic set up man to another closer. I think he may feel it handcuffs him because the expectation is the 8th has to be Kimbrel. Lets say for the sake of argument TLR doesn't think Kimbrel is the best option today, imagine the questions about why wasnt he in the 8th.
  11. Bummer needs to peform better too, but he isnt the guy we added to have a lock down 8-9 and win with 2 run leads. Kimbrel needs to understand that he isnt in the Cubs closing meaningless games for a team going no where. The Sox got him to win a championship, he can't go out there like he did tonight.
  12. I wouldn't have made that trade, I think Madrigal is more valuable and Ive been a big supporter. But that was Hahn, who I presume didnt think Kimbrel would have a 5.4 era and look like the past 2 years. He was given the 8th, no one forced him to have no control. He didnt get the job done, he should be apologizing to Gio for costing him a win.
  13. The reason he got the 8th is because of his historical performance. With the Sox he has pitched 8 innings and given up 5 runs. He did nothing that inning to make anyone belive that all of a sudden he has found his form as a great set up man. He has done nothing for the Sox to earn a long rope, he literally is getting chances because of his play for other teams. He deserved a short rope and yeah its shitty for the Sox because not only do they need him to be good, they also can't kill his trade value for next year. But this was a game you have to win and I can understand thinking Kimbrel wasn't the choice.
  14. No clue, its hard to justify the move. But Tony's job is to win games not make up for Hahn being silly.
  15. You're acting like hes in his prime and not 33 coming off eras of 6.5 and 5.2 in the past 2 seasons.
  16. Kimbrel wasn't closing and so far he has been a pretty mediocre set up man for the Sox. You're acting like he has had a sub 2 era for the Sox when he's actually had a 4.5
  17. You said he should be sentenced to prison, which seems to suggest you believed this hearing had any bearing on the criminal case. /shrugs Sorry if my explanation offended you.
  18. Why are the Sox giving him more chances to lose important games? He was given a clean 8th and he looked terrible.
  19. Lets not get carried away here. It was arguable to take Gio out, but clearly the Sox are giving Kimbrel every chance to succeed. Then when he came in he looked terrible. If Kimbrel had been lights out for the Sox he doesn't get pulled. The only person to blame is Kimbrel.
  20. I think it wasn't the best move, but at some point Kimbrel needs to own that he put himself in the position to be pulled because of his performance. Hopefully it motivates him.
  21. Okay now they need to push the 2nd one across and Hendricks has to get 6.
  22. You shut your dirty mouth hes about to go yard.
  23. In a mutltiverse of infinite possibilities... What if Crochet came in instead of Kimbrell or Bummer?
