  1. Illini, I think most reasonable people know that the FBI/etc lean Republican. The real problem was that Comey tried to predict the future and get in front of a problem that he thought may potentially exist. He thought by doing this, when Clinton was elected he could show the Republican's that he did everything in his power to try and convict her. Unfortunately he didnt realize that he was dealing with people who simply wont believe what doesnt fit into their narrative. Therefore he not only hurt Clinton (and in the process helped Trump) but he also gave Trump and his supporters ammunition to attack the FBI. Which of course is really odd, as the FBI helped them win. But we arent deal with facts or reality, we are living in a world where the President's lawyer claims that the President could shoot Comey and not be indicted. For most of my life it was implausible to believe that a lawyer/former mayor would say the President could shoot the FBI director.
  2. See we have different opinions about why things like that happened. My opinion is that it caused the rational people in the world to realize that Trump is an extreme danger and that we may have to suck up our differences momentarily to actually address a real threat. I do agree, the power structure is all messed up. Instead of checks/balances, we are moving towards a cult of personality dictatorship.
  3. All Im going to say is, the reason that the FBI, etc were out to get Trump, wasnt because he was Trump, its because they believed he was possibly breaking the law and that is their job. Can you name any other Presidential campaign that has multiple people plead guilty to crimes? Again I point to Pablo Escobar. If Pablo was a Democrat, and they investigate Pablo, its not necessarily because hes some outsider Democrat, maybe its because they have evidence he is breaking the law and they are doing their job. Its a crazy world where I am the one defending the FBI/etc and the Republicans are the ones attacking them. But that is just how dangerous times have become. I cant wait to go back to our normally scheduled program where I get to the be the one defending the alleged criminals against the actions of the FBI/CIA. But things have gotten so backwards, that even I have to try and say the FBI isnt that bad.
  4. Jenks, Thats exactly what I was saying. The only team who actually got to do their own physical was the Bulls. Everyone is just relying on the Bulls report.
  5. Comey is a Republican. Mueller is a Republican. What does supporting Trump have to do with being a Republican? Any real Republican would be against Trump too. It would like Pablo Escobar running for US President, of course I would expect the FBI wouldnt want him irrespective of whether he was a Republican or Democrat.
  6. I didnt know who Seth Rich or Matt Gaetz were until I read about them on the thread. I read the IG report, in my opinion it didnt prove that the FBI was helping Clinton. If anything I think that all of this has shown that Comey helped Trump because he thought Clinton was going to win and after her win he didnt want the right wing conspiracy groups to say that the FBI helped Clinton. And Im not sure who you are referring to as "establishment left" FBI/CIA etc are all Republican/conservative.
  7. Hes saying this stuff so he doesnt get drafted by teams he doesnt want to play for. The only team who actually got to do his physical was the Bulls.
  8. Interesting that you are calling for proof, when you have consistently brought up the Seth Rich case with much less evidence. http://politicalhaze.com/2017/02/republican-representative-mark-gaetz-conservative-florida-panhandle-lot-secrets-closet-part-two/ I cant find anything that I would really hang my hat on, but you and I have very different standards. The Matt Gaetz conspiracy theory seems to be more grounded in fact than your Seth Rich claims.
  9. We all knew that they were liars and horrible people. Just like the people in this thread who blindly supported them.
  10. I have no problem with Bamba at 7. I just feel like trading up to 4 to get him (especially with how much the Bulls tend to give up in draft day trades) seems counterproductive. For the sake of argument, lets presume no way Ayton, Bagley or Doncic gets to 7. The Bulls are guaranteed 1 of Jackson, Bamba, Porter or Carter. I just dont see a huge drop off with any of them, and I think arguments can be made about which of those 4 are the best. The only way I really would be considering moving up is for Doncic. And the optimum for the Bulls is somehow to obtain 2 top 7 picks and being able to draft Doncic + another. That scenario is pretty far fetched though as it depends on 2 teams passing on Doncic. A lot of mocks have that happening, but again, pretty big risk.
  11. The main reasons have generally been xenophobic/racist. Rules to keep "others" out. I'm. It sure when first quotas were established but definitely before WWII you were already seeing rules to prevent certain "kinds" of people out. Its late so I'm just guessing but maybe Chinese immigrants or even Irish were the first targets of actual immigration laws. I may try and get do some digging tomorrow.
  12. It was hyperbole. It just means that China can outlast the US because China isnt a democracy.
  13. Strange. Your first post said Ive never brought up my 401k, now you are saying I only bring it up when it suits my agenda. The comment was a joke about the "great negotiator" and how he is on a path to ruining our economy. Maybe you disagree with that, I dont know. Most of the time economics is tricky, its not easy to say who is responsible and who isnt. I dont usually praise or condemn Clinton/Obama/Bush/Trump etc for the economy because its usually more complex than any single person. So the reason I made the comment today is because this is one of those rare times when a single person is causing problems. You may think China is going to back down, but as Illini pointed out, Trump is now fighting multiple fronts. That is almost always bad. If anything given the precarious position of Trump's support at home, China may be emboldened in their response and try and really put the hammer down on the US. One of the bad things about going up against a pseudo dictatorship like China is that they dont really have to bend to the will of the people. They can starve their people longer than Trump can starve his. Never fight a land war in Asia.
  14. Remember guys, its the Bulls. When they traded Butler they actually had to give up their first round pick in the deal. Or lets not forget that amazing trade for Doug McDermott. So my guess is that they would probably do something like Parsons + 4 and Bulls give up both firsts this year and a protected first next year. Then we can all kill ourselves again and wonder why we ever gave them a chance.
  15. Im not sure what the rest of the countries opinion really matters when it comes to right and wrong. If 99% of the people thought slavery was good, it doesnt make it so. I think you misunderstand my argument. I dont want a disregard for laws, I want the laws removed. Just like segregation, just like slavery, I want them erased. I want people to look back at this time period and think about how backwards of a time it was for what the US is doing to immigrants. The laws should make it easier to legally immigrate to the US. Here is a Cato article on the positives of Immigration and GDP: https://www.cato.org/blog/economic-growth-under-trump-immigration-plan
  16. Congrats on your portfolio. Ive had a 401k for over a decade, used to trade euro dollars at the CME back in the day. I dont go around parading my financial status on this board because its entirely irrelevant to the topic. That being said, I dont really think most people care if you were up 7%, I think what most people care about is that Trump's actions could create some pretty bad results. So Id think someone like you, may be a little concerned. But who knows, maybe you think trade wars with China are a good thing that will really help.
  17. Didnt you read the article Bighurt posted. They are only "briefly" separated. The universe is 5billion years old, 6 months, 1 year is really "brief" in that context. Again lets never forget who the terrible people are. So that we can always remember them.
  18. I think you are wrong. I think some people want no immigration. Soxtalk has had political arguments since the beginning of time.
  19. Not a fan of passing on Carter. That mock is basically worst case scenario for Bulls as no guards are taken in front of them. Jenks, For whatever reason many places have Doncic slipping. Ive seen mocks that have him going to the Mavs.
  20. Id rather vote for erasing every restriction on immigration than give them a dollar for the wall. And our economy and country would be better off. Immigration is the future of America, but we are being run by guys living in the past. Next up, how can we revitalize the horse and buggy industry.
  21. How is everyone's 401k today thanks to Trumps war. I assume you guys are all winning just like me.
  22. Haha I saw that one a mile away. Its a pretty common tactic in certain circles, so I was pretty confident that I was right. THEY ARE JUST ENFORCING THE LAWS WHICH IS GODS WORK. LAWS ARE NEVER WRONG. GOVT IS ALWAYS RIGHT. I DO NOT THINK FOR MYSELF. That is their argument.
  23. Why do certain people always live in the past? Just because Obama was wrong, doesnt mean that we should keep doing bad things. Originally the US didnt let (insert) vote. Originally minorities werent treated equally. Does that mean we should just keep doing it? Or are we all just sheeple, that never think for ourselves?
  24. I like that the people who say "Dont trust the MSM" blindly trust what this govt tells them. Dont worry guys, the govt has never lied to us!
  25. To the best of my knowledge all families are being separated when they enter the United States. And no one is arguing about children who arent coming with their families. If they arent with their "family" they cant be separated from them. If a child comes solo, they were already separated.
