Im not sure why people are arguing with Rabbit or Bighurt anymore. They have made their position clear. The govt is just enforcing laws. We should never question laws, all laws are just, we are just sheeple. What can President Trump do? He cant arbitrarily enforce the laws, he cant pardon people, he is an innocent saint who has never broken a law, who has never worked with a criminal. He cant turn a blind eye to the law or else we will dissolve in chaos. This reminds me of the worst President ever, Abraham Lincoln. Slavery was legal, what a tyrant he was for trying to change that. The South were the real heroes because they were fighting for the law.

They don't need to be separated. They could easily hold families together for a few days during a bond hearing or any expedited judicial process. The policy implementation is purposefully horrendous to be a deterrent. Which of the type of thing horrible people like you defend.

Oh and that whole long post can be summed up in the following from the National Review: Wow, so you can release them pending the adjudication of the asylum claim. And they cant even spell adjudication correctly, yet Im supposed to take their word when they say: Notice how in that opinion piece there is not a single fact, nothing is researched. There is no evidence. But yes, Ill just take his word for it. I mean Rich Lowry has never even visited one of those centers, so what exactly is he basing his opinion on. (edit/delete) Sorry the quote formatting got messed up.

No I read it. It was filled with false statements, so I want to know where it came from so that I can read the source material and respond to it. If you are arrested, you get a bond hearing. Do these people get bond hearings? No. So quit comparing it to what if you were arrested for stealing food. Which again is a horrific comparison. If you were poor and your kids needed food, you could get welfare or many other programs the United States offers to ensure that people dont starve. Not to mention people crossing a border arent stealing anything, they are looking for a better life. They arent comparable. But again, to a horrific person, crossing imaginary borders is the equivalent to stealing. Notice how you dont respond to things like laws being unjust, that governments have made horrific laws before and that people like you have enforced them. Keep arguing, you just are showing who you are. You think innocent people looking for a better life are comparable to thieves. Im sure you would have said the same about Rosa Parks, after all she broke the imaginary line in the bus law. Front of the bus is only for people like you. Freedom and safety is only for people like you. Please link who said that long post, I want to have some fun tonight.

The point is if Illinois made a law that said you cant come from Indiana, and someone from iIdiana was escaping the horror that is Indiana for a better life, you would think its okay to separate their children because in your mind "they are criminals." Its interesting, the United States justice system is built on "innocent until proven guilty." So by the law, they are actually not criminals. They in fact are innocent. That is the law of the United States. So how do you respond to the fact that under the US justice system, they are in fact innocent, until conviction? They are by definition, not criminals until they are convicted of a crime. Im not going to respond to the paragraph you didnt type unless you cite and link the source. But since its quotes the national review, Im going to guess you dont really want to show where you got it or who said it. Think for yourself. Because in the reality it is those who support this practice who are the criminals, not the innocent people who are looking for a better life, who are made out to be criminals by unjust and unnecessary laws. But then again, Rosa Parks was a criminal because she didnt move to the back of the bus. (edit) And lets not forget. many Jews were criminals according to the Germans. So with your logic, its okay to put them in ghettos "temporarily" until a "final solution" was reached.

No you are a terrible person. DCFS doesnt take children away from parents because they went from Indiana to Illinois. You have no clue what you are talking about with DCFS. Its really hard for DCFS to take a child away, if anything you would be shocked how had it is for a parent to lose their child. You clearly have no idea about history because this is exactly how Nazi Germany started. https://www.ushmm.org/wlc/en/article.php?ModuleId=10005151 So yes its comparable to the ideas of the Nazi's in 1933. Like I said, they didnt start with furnaces. They started by state-sponsored racism and deportation. If you cant see the parallels, thats on you. Ironically, the Nazi's actually didnt start separating families until much later in the holocaust, so if anything your supporting something worse than what the Nazi's started with. And yes you are a terrible person for supporting children being forcefully removed from their parents. That is just a fact, you should at least own your horribleness. (Edit) And if youre going to try and argue, at least try not to make false comparisons. I never said it was similar to "concentration camps", I said that the path to the concentration camps started with similar behavior. That is a fact, its not an argument.

If youre cool with this that is fine. But legality is a matter of interpretation. People can legally seek asylum in the United States. That being said, even a child that has parents who entered illegally does not deserve this type of treatment. This issue is not debatable. If you believe that children should be forcefully separated from their parents for an undetermined amount of time because of invisible lines in the sand, you are a terrible person. Its really that simple, and that has nothing to do with what the "media" says. It has to do with what you believe. And while the comparison to Auschwitz is hyperbole, Nazi's didnt start with furnaces. They started by blaming Jews for things like "taking their Jobs" or "losing WWI". They then created rules that made them second class citizens, etc. I mean at the end, the Nazi's were just saying things like "dont be a jew" or "dont come here illegally". The path to the chambers is paved with the normalization of abhorrence. I will never let people forget what you said, that is the price of your opinion.

Republican's cant stand up to Trump. Trump is who defines them. The party stands for nothing besides for what Trump's opinion is that day. Many of the things they now cheer for go completely against what their alleged core ideas were.

There really is no hiding this time. This is being done to children and families, you either are for it or youre against it. Maybe they will grow backbones and stand up their dear Furher. Or maybe like Dennis Green said "they are who we thought they were."

Yeah most countries are completely fucked when it comes to immigration. Some of my relatives were on the last boat accepted in the US that came from Nazi Germany. Back then Americans werent too enthusiastic about taking immigrants, refugees, from Europe. That is why it is so important that Americans fight with all of their power to protect immigrants. Because almost every one of us have a family member (no matter how distant) who came here with the hope and idea that they would be accepted and have a chance at a better life. We lose what it is to be an American when we fail to fight for those who are in need.

Are you trying to support what Trump's administration is doing? Because otherwise Im not sure what the relevance is. Just because someone else is more horrific, doesnt justify doing horrible things.

By far Ronaldo's best world cup game. 2nd goal was pretty cheap, but the 3rd was all him.

The entire reason of trading Lavine is that he may cost almost max and has proven nothing. If I was the Bulls the reason I would do it is because I dont want to give Lavine a max deal and with the 4 Id get a lot of flexibility in terms of what you can do with 7. Maybe you get Doncic/Porter. Maybe its Carter/Sexton etc. I also think you can always find some interesting sf/sg in free agency. -

Lavine for the 4th + Parsons, who says no? -
This isnt really complicated. Republican's know that they are in the minority. They know that their days are numbered. Maybe their attempts will stall the inevitable for a few years, but there will be a day of reckoning. That is why the old guard didnt want to blow up things like 60 votes for SCOTUS etc, because they know that one day they will be the minority party. At this point I think their only option is to try and double down on all of this. They have created so much anger and animosity, that they know what is going to happen in the future. I just think a lot of them are hopeful that they are old enough that theyll be dead before they have to answer for it.

With the Michael Cohen thing I had a feeling the state of NY was about to start stepping up their investigations. Any state violations/crimes Trump cant pardon.

Some quick Greg replies: 1) Trump and congress could have made business owners do the right thing. They just purposefully chose not to. This is what Trump fans voted for, so its what they get. Perhaps instead of just being about "Bernie" you will look into local elections, speak with your neighbors, about what they can do in the 2018 election to help. 2) Chelsea wont be running for office any time soon. I dont think she has any interest at all and its doubtful shed get very far in a national primary given what happened to her mother.

I think China has realized that Trump can easily be out maneuvered and with Republican's cheer leading whatever Trump does, they have a few months to make significant gains in the Korean peninsula as well as the South Chinese sea area. Potentially looking at huge Chinese influence/land/sea gains, with the US and allies getting nothing. But I guess thats better than what Trump has done to most of our allies...

They broke their test facility so they cant test nukes for the foreseeable future. Why not get some stuff until you can get your program running again? The other possibility is that they think they can just out maneuver Trump because he has shown a willingness to be friendly with American enemies at the expense of our friends.

There is a difference between "telling it like it is" aka racist, etc and having a potty mouth. One is okay, one is really really bad.

I dont care about swear words. They are meaningless. I could say something far more horrific with words that are "okay" to be used in police society.

You could go to a fingerprint. I mean Great America uses it for season passes. That would basically eliminate any chance at voter fraud. Now obviously the concern is that then the govt has your finger prints. I think the main issue is that I just dont really think voter fraud is going to be that big of a deal. Seeing as most people dont vote anyway, what are the chances that so many people are going to commit fraud that it is actually going to the tip the scales in any election? I think the govt should be doing everything possible to make voting easy. They govt shouldnt be making laws to make voting hard.
-
I dont think you should have to do anything to vote and you should be able to register that day if you feel like it. The additional hurdle is this, if I thought I was registered, received nothing in the mail that said I wasnt, then I go to vote and I cant. It seems entirely unnecessary and I think that given modern technology we should allow same day registration. Anyone who wants to vote should get to vote on election day. Especially for things like President, Governor etc. I can see being a little more strict on district stuff, but if you can prove that you live in the state/country, why not be able to vote for the big things?
-
Jenks, I dont care if its Republicans or Democrats. But do you think that any citizen of the US should be able to vote in their district on election day? That there should be some mechanism to ensure that the most amount of legitimate voters can vote? Personally I think verification by mail is stupid. Mail gets lost all the time. At my building there are stacks of mail that were put in the wrong mailbox, etc. What steps do you think Ohio/Post office should take to ensure that the mail is delivered? Id say at minimum it should be return receipt.

Lebron needs to jump into people when he gets them in the air on 3 point shots.
