  1. QUOTE (Reddy @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 04:14 PM) 2) Of course it's a mix. Though I'd wager it leans further R than D based on historical evidence. Never wager on something you have no way of knowing. A lot of "liberals" have been caught in this mess. The reason I hate politicizing it, is because its going to become about "teams" instead of looking at each case on its own merit.
  2. Sounds like the Keystone pipeline leaked.
  3. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 12:26 PM) I see, you're relating it to the routine. I thought you were just saying because she was open sexually in one situation she probably was in this one. Yeah, sorry if that wasnt clear.
  4. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 12:18 PM) I don't think this matters much. If a woman likes sex that doesn't mean she consents to all sex. That's basically your analogy there. Also, with the way this has all gone, in the court of public opinion, there is no innocent until proven guilty. If someone makes a claim, we believe it and then respond accordingly. The first part isnt the analogy at all. Franken is saying that it was part of a comedic routine. There is evidence that in other comedic routines there were sexual jokes. If there were absolutely no other sexual jokes, it would definitely bolster her allegations. And we both know that just because someone has sex with one person, doesnt mean they consent with another. That is not even close to what is being alleged here. I dont really care what court of public opinion is. Just last night before the Franken thing I was saying that there is a possibility that one of Moore's accusers forged his signature. Fair is fair, whether they are my ally or opponent.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 11:59 AM) It's not just a photo, there's an article to go with it. The article includes the "Ewwwww". The problem with the article is that there is no way to know whether Franken or Tweeden is telling the truth. As Rock alluded to, there are videos of Tweeden with Robin Williams where she wraps her legs around him in a sexually way for laughs at a similar USO event. It will be interesting to see if anyone else comes out against Franken.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 10:08 AM) You'd assume since it was a large USO tour with many people that someone will be able to speak up on the accuracy of either of their stories. Well ultimately that is why Franken will get away with it. Franken will argue it was a comedic sketch and that they mutually agreed and it was all for laughs. The photo is stupid and definitely bad. I doubt that anyone in that helicopter was raising serious objections to a sexual prank like that. Its absolutely wrong and definitely could be sexual assault. But without other people coming forward, its hard to imagine that this will end his career. If he is smart he just keeps his head down, doesnt say s*** and lets the news cycle pass.
  7. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 10:03 AM) The old "I don't remember it the same way". Probably because someone wasn't forcing their tongue down your throat. Pretty clear is going to try and get away with it. Unless some other people come out against him, he likely will get away with it. His defense might as well be "At least I didnt whip it out."
  8. QUOTE (Reddy @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 08:25 AM) Could you link it? If that were the case it would pretty much blow this whole thing wide open and also discredit every other accuser. Seems risky. http://www.cnn.com/2017/11/15/politics/roy...nate/index.html That is the story I read.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 11:27 PM) Spent some time on the far South side this week and was not impressed. Hopefully we are not gonna become the new Detroit. Old old houses. What's up with construction on Cicero streets around 95th St this time of year? People that run cities need to realize upgrades are needed. Thought Mt. Greenwood/Oak Lawn area was very run down. It was kind of spooky seeing Brother Rice had the exact same dugouts as when I went there many moons ago. Their baseball field looked like a dump IMO. My old Q of M church was locked up on Monday what was up with that? Churches don't close. The 115th St. Little League fields where I played as a kid classify as a dump. Some guy was working on them so they must still be in use. And I found out Wonderburger has closed. I will say there was a nice new little shopping area with a nice new Mt. Greenwood sign over near 111th and Kedzie. I wanted to grab a hot dog at Pop's on 103rd and Kedzie. Too crowded so I went to Portillos by Christ Hospital area. I will say the Oak Lawn Hilton has the right idea. it's a nice building and good hotel. What are your takes on Chicago's south side. Kind of a dump I'm afraid. Chicago is the opposite of Detroit. Building more downtown then ever and rent is increasing every year.
  10. I read Moore's argument against the year book, and I actually think there is merit. Thats not to say this guy hasnt done bad things, I just think its possible that the year book is a forgery.
  11. Sounds like Johnson from Wisconsin is a no as the bill stands. Maybe people are starting to see how terrible all of this is.
  12. Sometimes I read what people write, and I wonder if they actually think about their own actions. It is bad form that someone misquoted, it is something I really dislike. But if you are going to be so fauxraged by a comma versus a period, how outraged should posters on this board be when those same people purposefully misquote and purposefully summarize articles in a way that is not supported by the article itself. Its almost like the irony of the comment that Wikileaks private messages were "illegally" obtained, when Wikileaks is in the business of leaking things that myay be"illegally" obtained. As to the whole controversy. Its bad form and the people should own up to their mistakes. But that mistake in no way vindicated the actions of Wikileaks or Trump. It made no difference in how I interpreted the quote, I always interpreted it as "other people are saying this about us", because they used quotes around the statements. The last comment by Wikileaks is a throw away, its like having a video of a guy robbing a bank and cutting the audio where he says "Other people are going to slander me and say I robbed this bank." Its entirely self serving.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 09:07 AM) POTUS this morning "May God be with the people of Sutherland Springs, Texas. The FBI and Law Enforcement has arrived" so, yea Thankfully hes only the President not the lead singer of a rock band, otherwise this type of mistake could lead to some upset people.
  14. QUOTE (ptatc @ Nov 14, 2017 -> 12:02 PM) Now you are acting more like Sheldon (not recognizing sarcasm) than him (geology isn't a real science, rock for jocks). I need a robot to help me detect sarcasm.
  15. I believe its Texas AM. He has posted about it a few times.
  16. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 13, 2017 -> 04:56 PM) Wouldn't it be a crime regardless? If my front door is secured by a numeric-code lock, and you guess that the combination and walk in, that's still a crime. You know you're not supposed to be in there. Im just qualifying my response in case some of the wikileaks defenders come in here and try to find some sort of legal loop hole Im not aware of. When they go in your house its trespassing, is there some sort of similar law concerning websites? Possibly, I dont know. Is it a crime to go into your friends facebook if they leave it opened? What if they save the password on your computer? Sometimes its just easier to qualify an answer when Im not 100% sure.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 13, 2017 -> 04:31 PM) If he used the password sent isn't that a crime? edit: asking b/c yr legal background, unrelated to your quote mostly Im not a prosecutor so I cant say for sure, but reading between the lines "guessed" sounds like they "hacked" it. Which likely is some sort of crime.
  18. Pretty sure I called out Wikileaks for this last summer.
  19. I think the accusations against Takei are a little more serious than a move gone wrong. IMO the implication was that Takei either drugged him or over served him to the point of incapacitation and then tried to have non-consensual sex.
  20. This whole line of argument is entirely speculative. And if we are going to speculate, I speculate that the founding fathers would have wanted us to change things that were antiquated. Otherwise why are we letting non white landholding males vote? These guys were for the most part pretty liberal thinkers.
  21. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 13, 2017 -> 11:00 AM) https://mic.com/articles/186033/george-take...-him#.HCW6m5HDz This is the best one yet. George Takei says Russians are setting him up lol That is actually not what he said. He said that he believes Russian bots are amplifying the story. I have no idea whether it is true or not. It seems like his belief is connected to an alleged attack on his facebook page after he was critical of Putin.
  22. They wont go back with UCLA. Reports are that there is no doubt they are guilty, but UCLA/ Jack Ma are trying to persuade China to release them.
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 10, 2017 -> 05:03 PM) It certainly is not. It might be impossible to predict what the likelihood of a successful prosecution might be, but I can guess right now that the police would give you the same look that Arnold used to give Mr. Drummond on Different Strokes when he said "Watchu talkin' bout, Mr. D"? You may be right, but its based entirely on speculation, not on facts. If all of a sudden there are a bunch of reports that males are being raped while drunk and police arent investigating, we could discuss. But as of now its just entirely speculation.
  24. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 10, 2017 -> 05:40 PM) This is a crazy argument. If one group does something more often than other group we should hold them to different standards of the law? There's more women getting killed by men than vice versa. Should we have different enforcement of the laws on murder too? Youre misunderstanding. I have no idea if they are held to different standards because (and I could be wrong) but less males report being raped while drunk than females, so its impossible to speculate what would happen if equal amount of males and females reported being raped due to being drunk. You are just presupposing there is a different standard. I am saying, I dont know if there is, because its much more rare for a male to report being raped due to being intoxicated.
