  1. You said before that Arrieta is having a once-in-a-generation year. Look at his 2014 stats on fangraphs. He was just as good, although he only had 25 starts (check WAR per start). Predicting injuries is meaningless, why even say anything? Dexter Fowler is a 110 wRC+ hitter at this point - very replaceable.
  2. LOL at the Cubs winning only 80 games next season. Get your brain in gear, Harry. You must have been thinking about the organization that is the White Sox. 3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 6, 2014 -> 03:46 PM) The Cubs don't have the money to pay Scherzer/Lester/Shields/Price. Come 2016 or thereabouts, they'll sign a couple guys to mega deals. You can't tell me that they won't have the cash.
  4. Great trade. They're working on a 90s Indians or 90s Rangers type lineup. Don't be jealous, now.
  5. 5.70 BB/9 and a .356 BABIP ouch! Come on back, though. Abreu will hit a couple grand slams and cover your ass.
  6. Ain't been nothing like this since 2003/2004 Frank Thomas.
  7. ISO Standings as of 4/25 1. Jose Abreu .368 2. Albert Pujols .359 3. Troy Tulowitzki .338 4. Adrian Gonzalez .319 5. Michael Morse .314 2013 Final ISO Standings: 1. Chris Davis .348 2. Miguel Cabrera .288 3. Brandon Moss .267 4. Edwin Encarnacion .262 5. David Ortiz .255
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 24, 2014 -> 08:03 PM) 2/3 of an inning 2 hits and a walk. Looks like he's ready to close to me. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 24, 2014 -> 08:04 PM) Where's hammerhead now? Yo, I'm right here. I'm here now. It's only one game, man. Don't worry about it. Far better relievers than Webb have been abused by the Tigers offense. We should be happy that Ventura actually used him correctly.
  9. Yeah, I was just checking in to witness the outrage over Webb being used in a meaningless game, but his name wasn't even mentioned. So, when he's truly needed in a couple days from now, Ventura will rest him.
  10. Son, that was a serious White Sox winner. Play of the game was when Gillaspie and Flowers collided on the pop-up, and Tyler wanted to kick Conor's ass. You could just sense the tension. I hope he kicked his ass after the game.
  11. QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Apr 20, 2014 -> 05:01 AM) I read nothing, but I'd say that the odds are not good. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 20, 2014 -> 02:05 PM) I'm not surprised. Did anyone else see this scathing diss?
  12. That's it? That's all anyone has to say after the day Marcus had? But you're cool, Dick. I always thought so. It takes a lot of balls to have a picture of Yoko Ono in your avatar. Chick is more hated than Hanoi Jane.
  13. I read nothing, but I'd say that the odds are not good.
  14. Semien camp. Get your s*** together for 2015. Remember, only hitter with promise that K-Dub ever drafted. And of course I'm checking Courtney's fangraphs page every other day. 190 wRC+ in 60 plate appearances aiiiight. I'm down on my knees, son. Make it two.
  15. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 18, 2014 -> 06:43 AM) A ball: 142 AA ball: 140 AAA: 210 Not as many at bats, but you know, still. Gordo has 2500 plate appearances at the major league level that tell us he's of the 85 wRC+ caliber. He'd have to make a quantum leap to be an average hitter. That's the key concept here.
  16. Feeky, I'm sorry that you have to put up with that. Yeah, I cringed when I saw Cleto coming out for the 9th. Lindstrom and Webb were available, and while the pen may have been just about used up, I think it would have been preferable to go for it right then and there. If Leury had to pitch in the 11th, then so be it. It's a much easier loss to concede. Put it this way. During the commercial break, I was thinking 9-6. But then the game came back on, and it was a major downer.
  17. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 11:01 PM) The bullpen, made up of rookies and reclamation projects in this rebuilding year, has a 6.38 ERA. Complaining about the manager in a game where the pitchers walk 15 is bizarre. Nah. The 9th is Webb time. Deep down, you know this.
  18. He's universally regarded as a buffoon at this point. And it breaks my heart, because he's a borderline hall of famer with close to a 60 WAR. To put that in perspective, Paul Konerko has a 26 WAR, Baines is at 38, etc. Ventura is legitimately one of the greatest White Sox players of all time, and I love his sooo much
  19. Everybody take a deep breath and learn how to read a fangraphs page. Marcus Semien posted a 170 wRC+ in close to 500 Double A at bats last year. That means that there's some actual hope with this one. Nobody cares about Gordon Beckham, not even his own parents.
  20. The choice is clear. We need Beckham to take the starting gig for three months and put up his usual 85 wRC+ so that we can trade him for a C- or D+ prospect. Because hey, it's better than nothing. Can't wait!
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 06:45 PM) but ALSO think the overall best path for the team is for him to be in AAA for a couple months while Beckham ups his trade value. Nah
  22. QUOTE (joeynach @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 06:58 AM) There wont be 10K people there then. U could give me scout seats to tomorrow nights game I am not going out there to freeze my a$$ off. Much happier from my couch and 55" LED in HD. 37 degrees ain't nothing if you get bundled up. I wish that I could attend some of these weekday games.
  23. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 14, 2014 -> 06:03 PM) Cleto He walked 75 batters in 90 innings last season. His WHIP was like 1.80.
  24. Froze my ass off for 6 hours. They said high 60s. Subtract maybe 20 degrees you dumb bastards. Semien damn well better be hitting in the 2 hole for the rest of the year.
