I remember reading one where somebody got the scammer to walk into a Western Union office holding a sign that said something like "I have a bomb" in English. But that is a good one.

'Anonymous' Hacker Group Gets Palin's Emails

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 11:24 AM) Why? He voted along with the rest of the majority in favor of saying it was totally ok that the President had grabbed all those emails and phone calls illegally? Why would you expect him to have a problem with this? So he would be totally ok if all his personal stuff suddenly shows up in an envelope at Fox News and makes its way around the internet? -

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 01:27 PM) Are seller-financed down payments really what got us into this mess? I realize the correlation between them and foreclosure, but isn't there a better way around this than banning this practice? If I were going to be buying a new home and the builder wanted to offer me $5000 towards the down-payment, why shouldn't they be able to, and why will that make me more likely to default? Couldn't they reform the rules so that you can have this payment assistance only if you are well-qualified? I also just realized that every sentence (except this one) is a question in this post. There is no one thing that got us there, but sure, this could be part. And at the link they descibe how it isn't such a good ting because the buyer has no money on the line at first and the home price is inflated making it less likely that they or the bank would recover enough should they default. You would think that the politicians would be trying to make it a little harder to get these loans, and the loans themselves less risky, but here, not so much. -

Is Barney Frank (D) smoking crack or something? Does he not listen to the news or read a paper? With the mortgage disasters that are now here, he seems bent on continuing to let bad loans live. http://www.city-journal.org/2008/eon0918ng.html more at the link -

'Anonymous' Hacker Group Gets Palin's Emails
EvilMonkey replied to StrangeSox's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 08:44 PM) Not that I know of. I think he's pretty much ignoring her. I went to go look and I noticed on the conservative and liberal blogs out there, the reactions were pretty predictable from either end. It's hilarious, but sad. But shouldn't he be condenming the hackers for their invasion of her privacy? You can argue that these people were motivated by his words about 'getting in people's faces' and so on. i mean, if some on the liberal side can claim that Rush et al incite violence then why can't the same apply in reverse? Or is he afraid of getting hacked by them if he does? Politics aside, he would gain more points by pointing out how unfair and wrong that was than by staying quiet and seeming like he quietly condones it. -

Just a question here: Has Barry said anything about the Palin email hacking yet? Has he condemned it, or anything? -

I have both the Mac and PC versions of the AdobeSuite products, and the Mac version is just much smoother and more intuitive. Shortcuts and just plain navigation throughout the programs is just easier. I also tend to favor my internet experiences on the Mac over the PC, except some internet based games don't always work right. Go to just about any design house or printshop, and they will tell you they prefer to design on a Mac.

I mean we're talking about the post-partisan, post-racial, Messiah, right? It not like he or his surrogates ever played the race card...much... errr.. nevermind. Yeah, I am the one posting it HERE, but it isn't Republicans or conservatives bringing it up out in the MSM.

What do you NOT like about your candidate

QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 03:38 PM) We're close to agreeing. I just get very protective of American business when I look at other penalties for accepting forgeries. No body says if you have a guy working for you that is wanted for murder, shut down the business. But if you have someone working for you that is here illegally, they want the business shut down. Doesn't seem fair to the business and potentially a disaster for our economy. We bail out banks for bad decisions, then turn around and put an employer out of business? When half our agriculture companies are closed, what does that do for our economy and our ability to feed ourselves? See, if Johnnie goes and institutes a workable guest worker program, like I said, then you wouldn't have any worries there. The worker pool would be big enough that he wouldn't have to take chances with iffy ID's, or knwoingly hire someone with crappy fakes. I worked at a bar briefly, I have seen some pretty good fakes, and some pretty bad ones. But with the ss number verification, that would catch 90% of the illegals, since they usually steal someone else's numbers and the names simply wouldn't match. Sure, if there is no worker program, your scenerio could possibly play out. But with one, I think it is merely a fever dream. And if you knowingly hire a guy wanted for murder, you would be arrested for harboring a fugitive. -

QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 03:22 PM) How certain are you about your employees identity? Would you bet your business those documents are legit and those people are who they claim to be? No stolen identities? Now how would you feel if these were forgeries and you were put out of business? Museums have been fooled. Way back when I was working at Harlem-Irving Plaza I mistakenly accepted a counterfeit bill, how wrong it would have been if I was held responsible. Tex, there are fake ID's, and there are FAKE ID's. Yes, some forgeries are good. Do you punish people for those? Neh. But if the birth certificate of social security card looks like someone made it in their basement with an old IBM Seletric, then yeah, you punish them. KNOWINGLY is the ppint there. Some fakes are so bad, that the only way to get by is if someone wants them to. You can also get the ACLU and immigrant groups to STFU about the social secirity number check they tried to institute, but is in court now by those two groups. Employers are supposed to submit ss numbers for verification to make sure names match the numbers, but somehow the ACLU finds that to be a bad thing. And I was very sure of my guys ID's. Especially Juddlings, since he is my brother. -

I wish McCain was stronger on immigration issues. Blanket amnesty is not a good thing. And Tex, before you start jumping ion asking if I am going to encourage my kids to pick crops, I also want a workable solution to having guest workers here. I want him tougher on illegal immigration, coming up with a workable bill for the labor pool we need, and busting businesses that knowingly hire illegals. I don't feel he is doing enough on any of those fronts. I also would like a much tougher stance on drilling here, now, coupled with an aggressive stance on alternative power sources. While I think John is pushing nuke power, he isn't doing enough on all the other fronts. -
My wife volunteers at the Humane Society of Plainfield and she does a lot of outings for them - parades, kids' days, etc. She is looking for a dog costume for herself to wear to the outings. Does anybody have an old dog costume, like a mascot or restaurant costume, that they are not using anymore? Folks are selling some on Ebay but they want like $150 for them, and most are from China. I'd like to keep it in the good ole USA.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 09:57 PM) Why should I trust the government with my emails more than you'd trust the New York Times with yours? I didn't say you should. i said that, and the Palin email thing, are two different animals. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 10:42 PM) Because they're data mining everyone's. And I'm clearly a Democrat. Anyway, in all seriousness...why is it a good thing for me to give up my privacy to the government but it's a bad thing for someone in the government to lose that same privacy? Whether they're reading my specific ones or not doesn't matter. If Governor Palin isn't breaking any laws then why is it a bad thing for her emails to be made public? While trying not to defend data mining, data mining and reading your emails and making them public are two very different things. Is your address book posted in the NYT? Emails about private matters splashed on FoxNews web page? Date mining is a serious issue, but is not related to this.
