  1. QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 10:41 PM) Patriot Act That doesn't say that they are going to read Balta's emails. I doubt they even know Balta.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 10:38 PM) So, just to change gears a bit, who else has a problem with the fact that governor Palin's emails being posted online is a bad thing but the government reading all my emails is a good thing and worthy of the support of both of our presidential candidates? Why are they reading your emails?
  3. QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 08:03 PM) Oh thank Goodness, I thought it might have been a Rep or Ind that hacked in Now I'm hoping the dad(D) used some CIA connection and his son as a cover. You know as well as I that the story will change a hundred times over the next few days as MSM and blogger alike take what little bits or rumor or information they have and run with it. I am not screaming consiracy here or anything. I in no way think that Obama, or anyone working for him had anything to do with this. Someone who is a fan may have, but that remains to be seen. Just referenced that blog because it had numerous links from many different sources so far.
  4. Yes, this is a blog, but I am linking to it because it has several links in its story from other blogs, news reports, etc. Seems the 'hacker' may be the son of a Tennesee State rep. (A Dem, if interested) And that he has had a history of mental illness (the son). http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 05:50 PM) How do you yell with type? Listen, if you want to have an honest discussion on this, let's have it. I've not been crusading in this thread with righteous indignation, I've not been yelling. You are making your points and I'm making mine, so let's not always take everything to an extreme. Are you complaining about my use of the word 'yell'? How about chastise? Chide? Set straight? Bottom line is I have been told several times in this, and previous, posts that the examples I used were state level officeials, and that if a national level person was mentioned, then the affiliation would be noted. I pointed out that those assertations were not always correct.
  6. I have no special stories of or about Frank Thomas to share. It has been my please as a WHite sox and baseball fan to watch him play in a Sox uniform, and I appreciated every walk, hit and homerun he ever got. He made baseball card collecting fun for me, even though it was expensive thanks to his popularity. And he makes up a large portion of my baseball wall of fame. Thanks Frank.
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 03:10 PM) I think a very similar stance should be taken with Diebold and their voting machines. If they don't work, then they should get new ones that do. I have no problem with that.
  8. Tex, I have no desire to have to get a new monitor after it loads up a picture of you.
  9. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 11:39 AM) They have faced prosecution before and have been convicted. Ironically, they were sentenced to community service in at least once case. From wiki: But with their almost systematic abuse of the voter registration, someone higher up should be the one getting in trouble, and they should not be getting government contracts until they can show some kind of verifiable changes to their systems to prevent further fraud.
  10. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 02:41 PM) wow. this thread went down the tubes real fast... and I wasnt responsible for it! lol Me either.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 11:00 AM) Quite simply, because there are laws regarding what you can do with the emails on those secure servers. If there's a few emails you don't want to have preserved, then you set up another account. It's quasi-illegal but if there's never a subpoena issued for those emails or you have the AG in your pocket so that he won't enforce the subpoena, then you've effectively hidden anything you don't want documented. Also if you want to use your email for campaigning, you can't use your government email to do so.
  12. ACORN is a very corrupt organization, and it defies logic that they haven't been investigated yet and that someone isn't in jail. But then again, the give big to Dems and like to register Deomcrats, real or fictional, so there is your answer.
  13. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 10:53 AM) I have been yelled at in several different replies that the party isn't mentioned when the story concerns local officials like govenors and state reps, but IS mentioned when it references congressmen. Just pointing out that ommission, however minor to the story it may be. BUT IS'S A LIE! A LIE I TELL YOU! A PATTERN OF LIES! (consider that in half-green)
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 09:56 AM) Seriously the fact that this has boiled down to party identification being the barometer of bias is silly. In some stories, the reporter may not find it important. In others, like the case of republicans who railed against gay rights but they themselves were in gay activities, I find it relevant. I have been yelled at in several different replies that the party isn't mentioned when the story concerns local officials like govenors and state reps, but IS mentioned when it references congressmen. Just pointing out that ommission, however minor to the story it may be.
  15. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 08:58 AM) Biden says paying more taxes is 'patriotic' So this would only affect people making 250K+ but I dont like that statement at all. It's basically saying that if you are fortunate enough to be wealthy and if you do not want to pay more taxes then you are an unpatriotic American. If Biden feels he needs to pay more taxes, there is nothing stopping him from sending in extra.
  16. QUOTE (juddling @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 06:12 AM) no mention of party affiliation in the few paragraphs.......that ought to get Alpha all riled up this morning!!!!! edit: gee....looking that up took a whole 30 seconds.... Nope, not me. I now realize how important the space savings is for that ommission. There is only so much room and taking up space with needless identifiers is wastefull and time consuming.
  17. http://www.kvoa.com/global/Story.asp?s=9022198 Son of a US Congressman arrested for smuggling illegal immigrants.
  18. QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 04:00 PM) Have you ever watched gladiator movies? Have you ever seen a grown man naked......
  19. Around 30 the crown area started to become bare. (I am currently 42) For now it is maybe golf ball sized. The hair I have now is almost all gray, but when I get out of the shower, I can see where it is thinned than the rest. I can see the crown Critic talks about. I am not going to go there. When the spot gets softball sized, it all comes off. No comb-overs, no crown.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 10:35 AM) --Companies need to drill on already-leased federal land Does that mean that they can tell the EPA and so on to go take a flying leap? Many lands with leases can't be drilled because of pending cases by the EPA, PETA, and so on. I don't think this bill does enough, and is suicide for Republicans. No where near enough drilling, but enough so that Democrats can say 'See? We allowed drilling, and it isn't helping!'. Remove the SPR release, i agree that is bad. Drill more.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 10:27 AM) Couple points in reply. 1. The McCain/Palin office clearly needs better telecom tech support. 2. Why do we want so badly to keep people from voting? Without knowing the details, I can already see a couple problems there. A person registers to vote with one name, and then another agency makes a mistake filing a document, or doesn't update their info after a name change, and you manage to keep them from voting. The law is very clear. We don't let people vote twice. You vote twice under false names and you risk jail time. The fact that documents in some state agency are wrong does not mean that there is going to be a massive voter fraud scheme perpetrated on election day, nor does it mean people who try to commit fraud won't be arrested. Haven't you seen all the ACORN stories about all the bogus registrations they try to get thru? makes you wonder how many DID get thru. if you register 100 people that don't exist, you can have anyone vote in their place with no ID check.
  22. Also, an electric auto plant breaks ground in Kentucky. http://gas2.org/2008/09/16/zap-breaks-grou...ry-in-kentucky/ I like how they mention that it would be cheaper to build them here than to ship them from China and then to the east coast.
  23. Did Obama misremember, or lie? http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/20...a-inflates.html
  24. have fun! Somebody had a little time on their hands. Although I am pretty sure that Obama never said "Go f*** an Eskimo". http://www.obamasoundoff.com/ Maybe use it for phone pranks?
