  1. You can get cheap blackjack and table games at Casino Royale right in the middle of the strip. And they have beer pong tables setup at O'sheas. And just about every place has low-stakes hold-em tournaments ($100 or less) going several times a day. Big difference playing against real people vs online.
  2. Now you too can get carbon offsets so you can enjoy your over-indulgent lifestyle like The Goracle and be guilt-free! http://freecarbonoffsets.com/home.do;jsess...B75C6B2FEB4E611
  3. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 11, 2007 -> 02:21 PM) I miss you when you're gone, you know. I'm a mess without you. Get a room!
  4. QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 10, 2007 -> 03:18 PM) And truly being your own boss, as in owning your own company, you can come in super early leave super later and pay yourself waaaaay under minimum wage, at least in the beginning I know a few around here will recognize that. There is something to be said for someone else worrying about making payroll, etc. yes.

  6. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 8, 2007 -> 11:00 PM) I have mine next weekend. It's meant to be black tie (e.g tuxedo), but I don't think anyone from my department will be wearing that. And they've cut back from a fancy sitdown dinner at a major casino to a cocktail party at some place I've never heard of. "Gotta cut costs from somewhere!!!!" I am taking my peeps low key. Dinner at Champps then laser tag. We did it last year, and they all had a fun time chasing after the boss.
  7. I guess his only mistake was in calling the cops to begin with. He shoulda just taken care of business and went back home. Or learned from all the bad cop shows and have a 'plant' ready, just in case he was seen.
  8. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Dec 8, 2007 -> 10:08 AM) What gain does someone have to make this allegation? Let alone eight different men who tell roughly the same story before its been reported and who live in different states and don't know each other? What gain did that truck driver get from claiming that Peterson wanted him to help move a 'package', when it turned out he was really several states away when this supposedly happened? People make s*** up all the time for the '15 minutes' or because they are just screwy, or whatever. And quit thinking I am trying to say he isn't guilty, or a scumbag, etc, because he is. I just found the wording in the reporting very odd and misleading.
  9. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 02:36 PM) Hey he told me to step on a crank or something. I had to defend myself. Yeah, those internet b****slaps really sting, and your manhood would be deeply questioned if you didn't respond in kind.
  10. And the backpedeling begins..... http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,2...548-662,00.html
  11. So, how long until Moronoti (or one of several fellow posters here)says we should have just beat their offer and signed him, too? Just like we should have beat the Angels offer for Hunter. Yeah, right.
  12. QUOTE(mreye @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 09:05 PM) Wow! The day I decide to be "sick." Alpha, I heard once that train engineers have the highest suicide rate of any job. Yeah, I have read that before as well. Not sure where, though. But I have a friend who is a conductor on the NY Subway system and he loves it, and wouldn't trade it for anything.
  13. I do some copy work for a Metra safety inspector and he was mentioing one time that the insurance rate they pay on train engineers is super-high, because of all the psychological care they need to provide for suicide/death by train incidents. Only about half the engineers ever get back into the train again. Alot of sleepless night there.
  14. QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 03:50 PM) It would be impossible, absent of a video tape, to prove the allegations. So they would seek to disprove them. Find proof that the Senator or the person making the claim could not be there. Perhaps find a time when one of these men made a similar allegation that proved to be false, etc. So basically they reported, accurately, that these guys are making this claim, and we can not prove or disprove their statements. I don't see what more they could do? Would you have not run the story? How would you have worded it better? Now see, they didn't say they couldn't prove them, only that the claims can't be disproved. If they said ' we couldn't prove or disprove them', that would be a little more even handed. Just saying we couldn't disprove them leaves the impression that they ARE true. WHich they probably are, but that is a different issue.
  15. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 08:28 PM) CNN says a few hundred. Another source says thousands. Another says a thousand. Whatever. Point is, its not millions of Sudanese all agreeing this woman should be stoned in the streets. Its a minority, albeit one that is growing in strength (as I've said many times before). My response, as I think was pretty obvious, was to the repeated and insistent (and dangerous) charge I see here from certain folks that these extremists are the mainstream of Islam. And I simply do not see that as true. What is an appropriate percentage for us to start worrying then?
  16. With the Goracle inventing the internet and all, you would think that teleconferenceing would be right on top of their 'things to do' list. I guess not.
  17. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 08:44 AM) You know I always look for an opportunity to rip on the media, but... in this case, they are reporting exactly how they should. They are allegations, they are described as allegations, and "they cannot be disproved" probably because they tried to and couldn't. Its the right description. Now, you may be right - some of these guys may be making it up. Heck, it may even be the Republican party trying to finish Craig off and get him off the radar before November of 2008. But that doesn't change the facts available at hand, at this time. How about 'cannot be disproved by us', or something. You and moreso Tex interpret my complaint here the wrong way. I think that the way they word the allegations, they are in effect saying 'these are true', without qualifiers. How did they check them? Ask them nicely if they were telling the truth? What about proving a negative? I would like to know how they verified these accounts and decided for us all that they were true. And again, I am just referring to these recent ones. I know he is a bad guy. I am not advocating his innocence, so stop before you even go there.
  18. QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 08:08 AM) So reporting what people are saying is wrong? So then why cover any speeches until everything that is said can be verified? It's like covering an arrest. Tex, frame it how you want, but by writing 'who's allegations can't be disproved', you (well, the reporter, not YOU) are representing that as the truth. Bad writing? Probably, which is what I am trying to point out here. Just like people who hang nooses on their own office doors to get attention, people will make crap up to ride the publicity train.
  19. I get to go to Vegas in March. That's all I need, baby! Oh, and a pinball machine.
  20. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 06:53 PM) I don't know where you got that sentence, but, the major news sources like CNN had it in the hundreds. From Mr. Genius's post on page 2 http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article531449.ece
  21. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 11:37 AM) For the last couple days or so, the hits on our good friend Senator Craig by that media that is out to get him have resumed. The paper is citing 8 people, 4 of them on record. Sure, there allagations can't be 'disproved', but can they be proved, or it is just he said/he said? We all know he is scum, but it seems like shoddy reporting reporting on one persons comment as fact. Just curious if any off them can prove it, other than by saying Craig can't disprove it. Must not have been anything juicy to come out of the debate other than CNN losing their credibility, so they have to go attack someone, anyone, whoever is easiest.
  22. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 03:49 PM) So after all that bluster, in a country of millions... a few hundred people protested, and a few of those were calling for executions. A few hundred! And that was just in that city.
  23. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 01:33 PM) trying to come up with that illusive, perfect holiday gift for some business clients of mine. In the past I've used... * Harry & David * Popcorn Factory * Hershey's This year I'm trying to stick in the $25-50 range. Anyone have success or enjoy using other companies/products??? I worked out a deal with a local Bakers Square where I printed 'Free Pie' gift certificates, and they accepted them and charged me whatever the cost was for whichever pie my customer selected. Although my best customer gets 10-minute massages from a massage therapy school that I do work for. (NO happy ending, sorry)
  24. QUOTE(vandy125 @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 12:17 PM) You would think so, but a imagine a lot of people like myself have not been polled. I always wonder who they are calling for these? Vandy, do you know anyone that HAS been polled?
  25. QUOTE(Beltin'Bill @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 09:36 PM) -feasts on average/mediocre pitching Isn't that over half the staff in the AL central? At least we would have SOMEONE hitting the guys were are SUPPOSED to hit.
