  1. i dislike Tiger fans more than Indian fans. Would rather the tribe be there than Tigers.
  2. I wonder if AP only 'fact checks' stories that make Democrats look bad? Also, kinda nice how their facts are hard to verify : . but yet claim with certainty that: Now just how did they come up with those numbers? Do they get the 'facts' from the same stringers that send them doctored photos?
  3. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 15, 2007 -> 10:49 AM) You are kidding, right? I didn't say that was a good thing, but don't you think that in the back of his mind that bat incident won't pop up every time he tries to hit a batter? Especially if he hit Jose on purpose, thnking he would get him back for hitting the home run. Every time he hits a batter, and that batter takes a step towards the plate, i bet he pees his pants. Especially if the batter hasn't dropped the bat yet.
  4. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Aug 15, 2007 -> 08:44 AM) Anyone remember "Let's wait til September and hear what General Petraeus has to say about the Surge?" Turns out he'll be reading from a script written for him. Who are these 'officials'? Can they name someone, or are they making it up?
  5. I'll bet Beech thinks twice before hitting another batter again.
  6. QUOTE(Cknolls @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 11:30 AM) This guy should be in general pop. while awaiting trial. Then we could all save some time and money because he probably wouldn't make it to trial. Can you post a link to the story you are talking about?
  7. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 11:29 AM) How exactly do you explain this?? deny deny deny...that's not me....nope...I don't know that dude Suburban man pleads not guilty to running onto Wrigley Field August 14, 2007 (CHICAGO) - A 22-year-old suburban Chicago man has pleaded not-guilty to charges he ran onto Wrigley Field during a Cubs game. Related Links Get Desktop Alerts Get ABC7 Newsletters Kevin Kleine of Hoffman Estates faces two felony counts of criminal trespass to a public place of amusement. Officials say Kleine ran onto the field during the June First game against Atlanta after his friends agreed to pay him $400. He was quickly caught. He is free on bond, and his next court date is scheduled for August 27th in Skokie. A second man faces similar charges. Officials say a barefooted Brent Kowalkoski sprinted across the field toward Cubs relief pitcher Bob Howry in late June before being tackled by a security guard. Kowalkoski's lawyer wouldn't say why his client ran on to the field, but says the Elmwood Park resident was "under the influence." He must be channelling Shaggy (singer, not cartoon character). "Wasn't me"
  8. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 09:08 AM) Whaaaat? Where did you get that idea? The taxpayers are all paying now for uninsured, the working poor, the indigent, the workers whose employers will not offer that benefit. I'd like to see a better system. So far in this thread there is one proposal, making employers responsible and your snarky comments assuming my views. You forgot to add that we are also paying for the workers who COULD afford insurance but instead prefer to gamble and takes cruises and drive new cars instead.
  9. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 10:40 PM) Instead we are paying tax money for health benefits through Medicaid, CHiPs, and other health care for the working poor programs. Tell me, if one of your employees found out he had a tumor that needed to be removed, who should pay for it and do they have the resources? How about, not me? Right now, all my peeps have insurance thru their respective spouses. I have had one guy work for me the last 15 years who didn't, and for him I purchased a catastrophic insurance policy with a high deductible. He breaks a wrist, he is stuck. Gets in a car wreck and is in the hospital for weeks, he is covered. Cost ME about $500 a month.
  10. It's all about the money..... http://www.myfoxdc.com/myfox/pages/Home/De...mp;pageId=1.1.1 Glad that isn't here. Yet.
  11. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 03:54 PM) If every business has the same cost added, how would that put you at a competitive disadvantage? You would add the costs on, just like your competitors. OK, we all raise prices en mass, then the people just end up paying for their healthcare thru higher prices. How much extra would I need to generate to cover the 'charges'? $200 per employee? $400? $50? If I had to add another $2000+ per month to cover this so-called 'free health care', I would have to add about $16 per invoice to cover it (at a $2000 cost). That would be about a 5% increase, just for that program. not to mention that all of MY costs are goign to go up as well from whatever suppliers of mine have to pay the fee, so my prices have to go up even more. Figure at least another 5%, probably closer to 8%. This would also be an overnote jump once the plan is implimented, so we would just end up being like the gas stations, raising our prices dramatically in one day. Those $40 business cards now cost $45. The $350 mailing job now costs almost $400. And not just me, the corner convenience store raises the Pepsi price from $1.35 to $1.50. That .99 hot dog special now costs $1.12. The new tires for your car just went from $400 to $440. Someone has to pay for it. Eventually it will be consumers, but the government is just trying to use business as the tax collector.

  14. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 10:25 AM) Perhaps you didn't read the last statement you quoted: Small employers that meet certain revenue thresholds will be exempt. Perhaps you have no idea how government works. That threshold will be so low that the only business not qualifying would be a lemonaide stand.
  15. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 10:10 AM) 3. Employer Contribution. Employers that do not offer or make a meaningful contribution to the cost of quality health coverage for their employees will be required to contribute a percentage of payroll toward the costs of the national plan. Small employers that meet certain revenue thresholds will be exempt. This alone would put me out of business. It is not the job of business to provide insurance to its employees. It is a bebefit, offered by some, to try and obtain the better employees. Why is it some kind of f***ing obligation that businesses need to provide, or pay, for this? Get out of my wallet. You want to spend even MORE than Bush has? The US has spent more than any 10 nations combined to try and fight this, worldwide.
  16. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 09:46 AM) imho the wrong dole was nominated . . . I agree.
  17. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 10:05 AM) Karl Rove = Overrated. I don't agree that he is/was a genius. He played a big part of shaping the country's discourse after 9/11, when Bush had an unheard of 91% approval rating. Bush is now at 28%. What a disaster this administration has become. and who is responsible for congresses approval rating?
  18. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 07:36 AM) You're the one ranting and raving so I'm not sure who you're telling to "let it go". Oh you may be quiet about it, at least here, since Kap has already predicted the joyous rapture to ensue, but elsewhere, the conspiricies abound! A quick look at Dailkos has just about every theory you can imagine in just the first 50 posts. 'grab his passport, he's leaving the country', 'what news story are they trying to cover up with THIS annoucnement', 'Conyers was about to nail him so time for him to get far away', 'only Repubs leave a sinking ship like rats, Dems stay to the end and fulfil their civic duty' , 'Here's an old diary about Karl's finances. The fact that this guy accepted a $161k salary in his prime (consultant) earning years was always curious to me', 'look out, he will soon be running the campaign', and on and on and on it goes. The liberal blogs will be busy today!
  19. I don't care what kind of game he gets it in. It shows that he isn't giving up and is performing as well as he can, whatever the situation. Congrats Bobby, keep it going.

  21. i will dedicate beer number 3 that i had earlier today to your birthday. Beer number 4 thru 7 were 'just because'.
  22. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Aug 10, 2007 -> 02:36 PM) I know. White people are so oppressed. It's like everytime I go into a store there like "look at him, I bet he tries to steal some stuff". Reverse discrimination is still discrimination. Nowhere in there does it say 'unless you are white'.
  23. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Aug 10, 2007 -> 02:30 PM) Joe Cocker also sang a version. That's the one I was thinking of. I like that version better than the Tom Jones one.
  24. QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 10, 2007 -> 10:39 AM) This would really take a long time to explain, so let me simplify it: If it doesn't involve black people, or brown people,it's not racist. I kid, I kid. Sorta. Fixed that for you.
