  1. Maybe we would be better off if it flooded right away, sparing us the need to pump billions more dollars to keep dry an area below sea level, that was a cesspool when I was there several years ago, and is likely to not get better. Sam Kinnison used to have a joke about the Ethiopians starving that went something like "You're starving, well, YOU LIVE IN A f***ING DESERT! MOVE! OH! OOOOOH!" Well, "House flooding again? YOU LIVE BELOW SEA LEVEL! MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND! OH! OOOOOOH!" (I know, I know, keep my day job)
  2. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Mar 7, 2006 -> 01:50 AM) Jimmy Carter writes with other Nobel Peace Prize Laureates about the proposed compromise. http://www.iht.com/articles/2006/03/05/opinion/edjimmy.php Rex, it doesn't matter if he is 100% right, he himself has no business making promises for the United States. ..."which subverted exactly what I have promised them," Mr. Carter said. HE has ZERO power to promise anyone there anything on behalf of the United States. He needs to go back to the peanut farm, or build some more houses. Hope he hangs drywall better than he did the Presidential-thing.
  3. DOH! I may have to eat crow on this. After I hit send, my wife says he was killed last year. If so, I am sure one of you willbe happy to point that out to me soon.
  4. They nominate a movie that glamorizes suicied bombers for an award, but fail to mention Theo Van gogh in the 'who died this year' list, even though he died for his art. Could it be bacause he was killed by a Muslim lunitic? I guess they can't be both heros and killers in the eyes of Hollywood.
  5. http://abclocal.go.com/wtvd/story?section=local&id=3958312 The opening sentence is a bit misleading, though. The pit is a sunken area surrounded by buildings, nowhere near 'traffic'.
  6. http://www.prospect.org/print/V14/1/mooney-c.html some additional info on Zogby.
  7. http://www.nysun.com/article/28484 Why is Carter promising ANYBODY ANYTHING? He 'promised' Cuba that the US wouldn't do something, when he knew damn well that the US was going to push for permanant seats for Security Council members? Boo f***ing ho, Mr. loser-ex-President. This man is pathetic in his attempts to leave a 'legacy' that is more favorable than his Presidential stint.
  8. I wonder how much energy they are using to produce that small amount of gas?
  9. QUOTE(samclemens @ Mar 3, 2006 -> 08:21 PM) this has to be photoshopped to make her look like a junkie Um, ya think? Either that, or that is her in the morning before makeup and coffee!
  10. She had a black cat with white 'socks' on its feet.
  11. QUOTE(vandy125 @ Mar 2, 2006 -> 10:26 PM) Got this at work. I do not know if any of it is true or not, but it is kind of funny if it is. Below is the text that came with it. Of course, who knows if any of it is true? The picture shows that this soldier has been thru Survival School and learned his lessons well. He's giving the sign of "coercion" with his left hand. These hand signs are taught in survival school to be used by POW's as a method of posing messages back to our intelligence services who may view the photo or video. This guy was obviously being coerced into shaking hands with Hillary Clinton. It's ironic how little she knew that he would so inform us about the photo---perhaps because she's never understood our military to begin with. If you consider that there have been an average of 160,000 troops in the Iraq theater of operations during the last 22 months, and a total of 2112 deaths, that gives a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000. The rate in Washington D.C. is 80.6 per 100,000. That means that you are about 25% more likely to be shot and killed in our Nation's Capitol, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation, than you are in Iraq. Conclusion: We should immediately pull out of Washington! Her face almost looks like it was Photoshopped onto someone elses body there. Bad lighting?
  12. There also seems to be a video of governor Blanco saying what she would do if a Cat 5 hurricane were to hit the area during a campaign debate. I guess she also 'lied' about what she would do, since she did none of it. Video is here http://exposetheleft.com/ (following the lead of Balta, yes, it is a conservative site, but don't sue me, you won't get anything!)
  13. I've checked out the show a few times myself since i still have one of my car radio buttons set to CKG. it's not the best but to totally slam it's ratings after only a month isn't quite right. If you think about it....he got almost no publicity coming into this market, and he's replacing Stern..which is hard to do anywhere. if his numbers still blow in a year then maybe CKG should do something. I'm not sticking up for the guy per se...i think his show sucks too but just something to think about.
  14. The only problem I have had with mine is once during the first month, when I would hit 'shuffle', it would skip thru the first 3 of 4 songs before playing one. If I hit skip to go to the next, it would skip 3 or 4 more before stopping and playing again. I had to do the reset thing, and have been problem free since. Good luck.
  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 02:02 AM) So, let me give this counterpoint...the Dems have offered up quite a few alternative options, such as the Murtha plan, which the Republicans labeled as "Cutting and running"? You're asking why the entire country isn't doing everything it can to win? Well, let me put this to you. Paul Bremer is about to release a book saying he needed a hell of a lot more men/troops over there. The U.S. has basically run out of reconstruction funds over there due to fraud, waste, bribery, and the insurgency, and the Administration isn't planning on providing more. Would you be in favor of a significant tax increase to fully fund the war over there, including a large expansion of the army through whatever means are necessary? You ask why the entire country won't get behind it...fine...let's propose getting the country 100% behind it; put enough troops and funds in there to actually rapidly rebuild everything and put an American squad on every street. Even if it takes a million men. That would be doing everything possible to win. Do you think that's a good option? Would you support that? Even if you or your family wound up having to pay a thousand dollars a year for it and had to send either you or someone close to you over there to fight because we need the manpower? I have 2 cousins and an uncle over there now, and a few more cousins in the various services that are stateside, so that is a moot point for me. My 13 year old son has also talked about wanting to join the air force since he wants to fly. I have no problems with that. As for the needed manpower, we would have more troops if there weren't groups actively doing anti-recruiting. If you think those groups haven't had an impact, you would be wrong. And for the funding, why does everything involve a tax increase with you libs? I for one don't think that the invasion was the best course of action. But the Murtha plan isn't very good either. We are there, we just can't 'redeploy'. Anything that looks like a loss, or a surrender, or that we are running away, will BE a loss because it will further embolden the enemy. Since we are there, lets win. I will be the first to say things haven't been run there as best they can be. Hindsight is always 20-20. How about some foresight? As for sending ME over there, I am a good shot, but with my knees, bad eyesight and torn rotator cuff, I don't think they would want me.
  16. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 09:39 PM) Winnable? That's the wrong question. This isn't a win or lose proposition. We went in there for whatever reason you want to believe and blew up the country...literally and figuratively. What we should ask is...when the inevitable civil war breaks out, do we want to be there? What side are we going to be on? Cuz it's only going to get worse before it gets better. The question that remains to be asked is: How long are we going to stay? The question that remains to be asked is since we ARE there, why is the entire country not doing everything it can for us to win this conflict, so we can come home? Instead, politics rears its ugly head at every turn on both sides, and nothing gets done as well as it could or should, creating a stagnant situation. Why can't libs just say 'fine, we hate that we are there, but realize that just pulling up and leaving isn't a good option. Let's do whatever it needed to win this so we can bring our troops home.' Is it winnable? How will we ever know until all of us actually get behind the idea of winning it in the first place? And just think, if the Dems DID do that, sure they would piss off some of thie rbase, but would they really go and vote Republican out of spite? I don't think so. PLus, it would swing alot of middle-of-the-road voters who would finally think that the Dems are serious about the defense of our country, and really aren't Frenchmen in disguise. It would be a win-win for the Dems!Be on record as aginst the war, but also supporting the troops and our country. When we win, they get to share in the glory.
  17. Give Buehrle the same strike zone that Santana gets, and Buehrle = Santana.
  18. Never been to France, but I do know someone from France. He rented the guest house at my in-laws for about 6 years in the late 80's, early 90's. Still talk to him once in a while (OK, email, not talking), and there actually is alot of general anger towards the US, but it comes more from the younger people. His opinion was that they just don't realize the history between our two countries, and that some of it stems from jealousy. HE loved it here, has been back to visit a few times, but wants nothing to do with Long Island Ice Tea anymore! On his first American drinking experience with us, he chose that as his drink of choice. It was a loooooong night!
  19. Damn, Bill, I know we were slow today, but did you do anything after I left?
  20. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 23, 2006 -> 01:33 AM) Do you have any clue as to the countries that helped save our asses during the American Revolution? The fact that the France of Louis XVI took up arms on behalf of American independence should negate your right to hete them by your logic. They did that because of thier hatred for England, not for any love of the new country.
  21. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 11:49 PM) Would that also apply to the NRA? Both groups spend the money for the same reasons, to advance their membership's mission. I didn't notice the NRA allowing me to opt out of its' contributing to GOP candidates. LOL, this is really about the GOP, who is anti-Union trying to stop funds going to candidates who are pro-Union. Don't pretend it is anything else. Tex, the NRA members give their money to the group voluntarily, not thru forced deductions like unions. Don't like what the NRA is doing with your dues? You can quit and never pay again. Don't like what the union is doing with your dues? Good luck trying to quit the union. While you could always quit your job, somehow that doesn't seem like a fair comparison.
  22. I don't think it was so much that the league 'figured out' shingo, it was just he couldn't get the first 3 pitches over the damn plate! After that, his wussy fastball is just a fat-pitch waiting for a seat in the bleachers. If Shingo was getting his big hook over early in the count, things may have been different for him. Regardless, I would rather have Jenks!

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Feb 22, 2006 -> 01:39 AM) He should get half! I'm gonna start a chant! Pay Nick Lachey! For once I will agree with you. Pay Nick Lachey!
  24. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 04:55 AM) Paperweight? How come it hasn't become a Macquarium yet?? Well, I need SOMETHING to keep my office door open, and it is just the right weight. That, and I kill fish faster than I kill plants.
  25. That's all you need to know to understand why this is probably happening. Some people just can't get over a divorce and f*** with thier ex'es on everything, regardless of who else gets in the way. Love is a battlefield!
