  1. A line item veto would be a GREAT thing, assuming whatever President that was in charge had the balls to actually use it.
  2. I thnk part of the reason many Sox fans bemoan the lack of national attention and such is that if we DID have it, it would make it easier to say you are a White Sox fan when you are out of the area. When people find out you are from Chicago, if the topic turns to baseball, they always ask if you are a Cubs fan. Cab drivers who can barely speak english know enough to ask if you are a Cubs fan. Tell them that no, you like the REAL baseball team in Chicago, the White Sox, and usually the conversation stops there. It would be nice if for once they assumed you were a Sox fan.
  3. How about you all save some of your self-rightous indignation until it is proven to be true. The media HAS been know to embellish things a bit now and then. If it is true, then it is a bad thing. A very bad thing.
  4. Considering that the players are essentially salaried employees, and are on 'company time' while travelling and on the bench, I think the league has every right to dictate clothing options. The league doesn't need to gain 'young inner city interest', it needs to KEEP the interest of the middle class white guys that buy most of the tickets. And my guess is that a lot of those guys are sick of millionaires trying to look like thugs.

  7. Stub Hub has tickets STARTING at $700 each, for 500 level in the corner.
  8. FWIW, at no point did Nuke say that ALL blacks riot, or that whites never do. I believe his line was
  9. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 11:18 PM) So, it's better to burn down and loot other people's stuff? Did I say that? Just making an observation. Even a dog knows not to s*** where they sleep.
  10. Actually, a movie I would like to see a sequel to is From Dusk till Dawn. I loved the cheesy violence in it.
  11. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 10:31 PM) White kids can riot too. Iowa St. 2004 Yeah, but they usually don't burn down and loot their own neighborhoods.
  12. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 01:18 PM) Nuke, a proud member of the GOP. Are you trying to paint all GOP'ers with the same brush, Tex?
  13. One thing you may have overlooked, in many schools the people working the HEad Start program are already employed by the schools for teaching. In most instances, people are not hired only for Head Start. As for your quote in your article, it is very misleading by placing it there without attributing it to anyone. It makes it sound like someone has actually said, when in reality, it was you who said that.
  14. If you take a drink after every time Fox shows a replay of ANY call they think went against the Angels, you would be dead by the third inning.
  15. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 06:58 PM) Oh man, as if the original wasn't bad enough. I'll rip your f***ing throat out LOL. I think that I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than to have to watch the sequel to that piece of crap movie. You're certainly a strange breed, EvilMonkey. C'mon, think about it! Set it in a nightclub that has current hits playing in the background, and you have a top sellign soundtrack. You can start the career of a new action actor by casting some up and coming black actor as the new bouncer, and Patrick can come and teach him how to do things right. And just like the first one, the old mentor will die, so you get to see him killed off, too! Wouldn't you like to see Daulton get killed?
  16. I have bought alot on Ebay (and sold some as well). The worst are the 'professional' sellers on Ebay. I had bought something once from one of those Powersellers with a gazillion feedback. After 3 weeks of it not showing up, I emailed them asking for a status, and I get a nasty reply back saying that since I didn't pay extra for tracking, he didn't have to give me a status update. Not even an 'I sent it, the PO must have lost it', just a basic f*** off. Then, he had the nerve to neg me about being a bad buyer and such. Also have had numeroous instances like Queen, where 3 days after an auction ends, people are emailing wondering where their money is. Well, dickhead, if I send a check, and the auction closed on a Saturday, you will probably not have your money on Monday.

  18. ROADHOUSE! Put the sequel in an inner city setting with dance music instead of a redneck bar. Have the bad guy be some local drug dealer instead of the town rich guy. Hell, the soundtrack alone could gross millions with the right artists on it.
  19. Question: How would this 'sacrafice' the program? if anything, it will make theoverall program stronger as there will be more places available. Another question: Your opening quote, was it an actual quote, or something you made up to increase the dramatic appeal of the article?
  20. QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 08:24 PM) 19. You think of the major four food groups as beef, pork, beer, and Jell-O salad with marshmallows. You mean they are not??????/
  21. Kinda reminds me of Billy walkin the beach at Normandy. Just out for a stroll.....
  22. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 08:00 PM) There was a day in America where we helped out of altruism. We didn't look for something in return, we didn't look to see if they had contributed in the past. We helped because it was the right thing to do. It was one of the things that seperated us from other societies. We gave of ourselves, we didn't keep track of credits and debits. I blame the lawyers & insurance companies. If they continued to put out the fire and a firefighter got hurt, maybe the insurance company won't pay because they were fighting a fire they weren't paid to fight. Tex, if you yourself helped get this guy out of his trailer, and in the process injured him, your butt would be sued faster than you can say 'tort reform'. Where does giving of yourself stop because it becomes a burden unto yourself? There was a poll question on the radio asking if people were suffering from 'catastrophy burnout'. I say a resounding hell yes! I am tired of goving. I give, almost until it hurts. But I have a family to take care of, and 4 employees with families to also worry about. Have I sacraficed? Yes. But I don't know how much more I can take. For all youknow, these firefighters, who probably get paid per call, were not gonna get paid for that visit. And if they got hurt during an unauthorized visit, you could probably kiss disability goodbye as well. Why are people obligated to help those that fail to help themselves?
  23. I will echo the compliments towards Scioscia. I didn't care much for him, but after watching his post game comments, he took that with class.
  24. If he would have sold the camcorder, he could have paid for several years of fire coverage. Now he just gets to videotape his house burning.
  25. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 01:05 PM) But, but, but... Maybe if the Republican's didn't cut the $$ to repair the levies.... :rolly Funny stuff here... now it's the Dem's fault that the CAT 5 hurricane destroyed Louisiana because somehow how they run the G'ment is directly related to the degree of a natural disaster. No the hurricane isn't the dems fault, but the negligent preparedness and first level response to the hurricane is. The failure to use city and school buses is. The failure to enforce a mandatory evacuation is. The using of levy money to build casions is. There is enough blame to go around here for all, but it started right there in the cradle of corruption.
