QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 31, 2005 -> 01:10 AM) Why do you waste your time reading what Michael Moore has to say. Everyone here from right all the way through the far left agrees that he is a dumbass blowhard. Giving him hits on his website and commenting on his latest drivel only encourages him. Actually, I think all those liberal institutions of higher learning that paid $30,000+ to have him give political speeches under the guise of higher education encouraged him. But you are right, he is a dumbass blowhard.

I didn't know deaf people watched SINGING contetst on TV! http://www.nad.org/site/pp.asp?c=foINKQMBF&b=699139

On this day, of all days, you would think this asshole could just take a moment and thank veterans of all wars for making this country a safer place that allows him the freedoms to make an ass of himself. But no, he has to take yet another swipe at our President, and use a grieving mother to do it with. Michael Moore, you are a big fat idiot. I hope you choke on a cheese fry. http://www.michaelmoore.com/words/index.php?id=2825

My Phoenix experiences were mostly limited to bars, so I guess that doesn't help. There is a restaurant called Chuey's that has some damn good homemade salsa. There is also a zoo there somewhere, but I was unimpressed.

http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/nation/3197097 Here is another case of sloppy journalism. The reported went to two 'anonomous sources' to find out if Rummy authorized the plane to be shot down. Hey here's an idea, call Rummy's office and ask them! Maybe if these reporters keep getting burned by these unnamed sources, they may start naming them. Assuming, of course, that the actually exist.

I wonder what names he will be called by his former fellow liberals. If it were a conservative changing 'sides', he would be called a hero, courageous, a maverick or any other sort of names trying to note it as a good thing. We shall see what he is called.

It would help if Ozzie didn't keep moving him around in the lineup. Not that I have a problem with Arow gogin to third, but why move Carl so low? At the time, he was till hitting, while Paulie was living la vida low-.200. Paulie should have been dropped, maybe slide Carl into the 4 spot. But I also noticed him checking his wrist. But don't worry. As today proved, he willhit when I put him on my fantasy bench. I think I'll keep him there for a few days, so the Sox can get a few wins!

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ May 24, 2005 -> 01:53 AM) Its all the same pithy stuff that each party does whenever they aren't in power. Doesn't make it right but its all it is. My favorite has been Santorum and Novak trying to interject allusions to Democrats being like Hitler and the SS during their debates about the filibuster. That's provided a ton of comedic relief to the insanity of American politics. Hey, if Bush = Hitler, so can Democrats. You are right, both parties do it, but you seemed to leave that out the first time. I am sure I have left it off before as well. Maybe we could both get jobs at newsweek?
-
QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ May 24, 2005 -> 12:30 AM) When 280 of Bush's nominees get voted on and only 10 don't (I was watching C-SPAN earlier haha), I think the Republican whining regarding the filibuster lack of voting seems moot. Especially when Bush's percentage of approvals regarding judicial nominees is about the same if not better than previous presidents. It is not the amount of judges that don't get confirmed, it is for what position that they don't get confirmed. The Dems are simply holding out on anyone for any position that they consider to be a stepping stone to the Supreme Court. You of all people here should know that.

Whoever wrote the story must not have been at the three games due to this comment.

QUOTE(winodj @ May 21, 2005 -> 09:00 PM) They were reporting a source close to the investigation who has since backed off his claim. This really isn't too hard to follow. From what that source said, they made a prediction. That is not good journalism, and that prediction is what was retracted. Yes, I remember. It was an unnamed source, who said that he had heard that this investigation was going to happen. So the source was reporting the information third hand already. Should have been checked out better.
-
QUOTE(winodj @ May 21, 2005 -> 01:54 AM) Again, retracting this story - doesn't mean that what they mentioned may have happened didn't happen, just that the government isn't reporting on it. Which means they are reporting heresay, or a rumor?

I'll make another comparison. Take you, for whom anti-American crap is obviously rampant. Then BigHurt makes a sensational accusation towards you of anti-Americanism. This incites many posters on here to berate you endlessly. The accuracy comes into question but the presence of anti-Americanism is always present anyways. Therefore you could say that you are really to blame. It's the same with Guantanamo, records of Abuses are apparent.

The sad part is that these new draconian rules came into effect after the death of a highway worker last year. The thinking, of course, is that the increased fine would slow people down to help 'save lives'. The only problem is that these new laws would not have helped 7 of the last 8 workers that were killed. 5 of them were killed by drunk drivers. Since they were drunk, do you think they really cared about the speed limit? One was driving on a suspended liscense, in a 'borrowed' car from his girlfriend, and had multiple outstanding tickets. It doesn't appear that he was too concerned with following the law. one was killed when the driver fell asleep at the wheel (although he said he had 'blacked out'). And one was killed by a driver that didn't slow down when the worker standing there with the stop sign pointed it at him, and he went thru some of the barracades and hit a worker. I'm all for having a safe work environment, but the knee-jerk reaction to the worker deaths has helped to lead us towards big brother on the roadways. I also have to get my $375 ready. With the added miles I have to drive due to the crap by I-394/294 ramps, I HAVE to speed just to get to work in any reasonable amount of time.

QUOTE(winodj @ May 17, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) Hey, way to compare art to an interrogation. Thank you. Remember to tip your wait staff, and I'll be here all week. Actually, what I am pointing out is that with the crucifix deal, when the religious folk freaked out, a whole bunch of liberals called them names, made fun of them, and said things like 'free speech', or'it's just a piece of plastic', etc. Now that supposedly a BOOK was flushed down a toilet, a whole bunch of zealots rioted, killed people and caused alot of damage. Over a book. And the same people who wondered why Christians were getting so worked up over the desecration of one of their religious symbols, are now getting themselves worked up over the alleged desecration of a BOOK. Did you have a problem with Piss Christ? I thought it was extremelt poor taste, in no way should be called art, and that if the guy got a government grant to produce that crap, he should have been forced to repay it, but otherwise, so what.
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ May 17, 2005 -> 09:39 AM) I wonder how many of you that are upset about this alleged desecration of the Quran would get half as indignant over a similar desecration of the Bible. Half indignant is a hell of a lot better than rioting and killing people. You may remember the incident a while back with the so-called piece of art by Andres Serrano’s called Piss Christ, which was a crucifix in a jar of urine and blood. While there were shouts of protest from all the religious groups, I don't recall any riots. In fact, there seemed to be lots of liberals defending this artists 'right' to create such a piece. Maybe the people who supposedly flushed the Koran down the toilet should have applied for a NEA grant. They could have called it performance art.

Will be 39 in August, but feel lke 59. Born in Chicago, family moved to a small south suburb after a year called Sauk Village. With the exception of 4 years of college in Naperville, and 2 years of apartment living after getting married(1 each in Hickory Hills and Chicago Ridge), I have lived in this town ever since. Hopefully that changes in about a month or two, as my house goes on the market at the end of this month, and I try to move out by Steff in the Plainfield area. Can't wait to get out of here! Although I will miss the usually cheaper gas in Indiana (and no tax on food!).

Has everyone heard of Judicial Watch? They are a 'watchdog' group that seem to attack most political people at one time or another over something. It just depends who they are going after as to how they are named. When going after Republican VP Dick Chaney, they are "the watchdog group Judicial Watch " http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...nergy_cheney_dc or as " the public interest law firm that investigates and prosecutes public corruption". http://www.cephasministry.com/nwo_juicial_watch_sues_vp.html But when going after Clinton, they are referred to as "longtime Clinton foes like the conservative watchdog group, Judicial Watch, ..." http://www.mrc.org/cyberalerts/2005/cyb20050511.asp#1 I'm not saying that Judicial Watch is or isn't a conservative group. But if it is, why does that need to be mentioned only half the time?

Since Tom Morello is the co-founder of Axis of Justice, a 'leftist political action site', just about everything he does in the public arena has political overtones, whether he intends it or not. But I am wondering how playing in Cuba coincides with his group's mission statement, "We aim to build a bridge between fans of music around the world and local political organizations to effectively organize around issues of peace, human rights, and economic justice." Cuba is so far away from any of those three things that isn't funny.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,155808,00.html Voilcker says 'lives are in jeapordy'. Who's, his own if the truth about Kofi gets out? Kojo's if the embarrassment is too great for daddy to handle? Kofi's is some of his fellow conspirators find out he was getting a bigger chuck of the booty that they thought? I love the part where Volcker asks Kofi to order the former investigator to NOT comply with the congressional subpeona.

Code enforcement people tend to eithe become lazy, or waaaay too overzealous in their jobs after a while. I once got a ticket for 'Grass too high, over 7"'. I walked all around my yard with a tape measure to find it, and found one little tuft of grass, next to a bush, that you couldn't see unless you almost walked up to it. I almost got arrested for all my yelling at city hall over that one. However, it turns out I was not alone that week, as people were coming in all week for similar things.
