  1. I don't remember anyone saying Benson was worth two peanuts. Anybody here want Benson? Anyone?
  2. We already have Cairo on the roster. His name is Willie Harris. I simply put forward a proposition for filling holes, I did not say it was a given the other teams would agree. LA will not take on salary for Vazquez if they complete the RJ deal, they'll be moving Vazquez to clear salary for Drew or Beltran. And despite Reddy's feelings, I highly doubt Texas sees Garland as equal compensation for the best 1B prospect in the AL. However, IF we could make those 4 moves, I would do them in a heartbeat. We would be as good as anybody rotation wise, and our lineup would still have enough pop to score some runs.
  3. Contreras sucked in NY too but we seem to think he's a competent #4. Vazquez sucked less than Contreras did. The only worry I have about Vazquez is that he pitched hurt in the 2nd half. No other explanation for his poor numbers after the break, his stuff is electric. Definitely would want a full examination, including a couple MRIs to be sure his arm isn't torn up.
  4. Cotts will be back in AAA learning how to throw strikes that don't leave the yard.
  5. 42 ABs isn't much time to prove anything. Perhaps the fact he is 22 has something to do with that. Hitting .310 with 11 HRs and 84 RBIs at Oklahoma last year isn't impressive? Guess all of our prospects suck. Anderson couldn't sniff that at AA, much less AAA. Don't need Garland if we have Vazquez and Perez.
  6. Garland= Kip Wells = Gutless. Get something for him while you can
  7. LOL. Yeah, 22 yr old 1B prospect with high ceiling would be of no use to us.
  8. 4 moves: Konerko for Vazquez Garland for Adrian Gonzalez (Texas is desperate for pitching) Sign Odalis Perez Sign AJ Pierzynski Takes us to about 73 mil in payroll, fills the holes quite nicely Rotation of Garcia, Buerhle, Vazquez, Perez, and Contreras Your lineup: CF Podsednik LF Rowand RF Dye DH Everett/Thomas SS Uribe 1B Gonzalez C Pierzynski 3B Crede 2B Harris Pitching would keep us afloat, gives us 2 months to figure out who among Crede, Uribe, and Harris can cut it and who can't. Have 2 mil room to work with.
  9. I give KW a C. I like the Dye and Hermanson signings, but trading Lee for Podsednick was a complete failure. However, if he signs Pierzynski to upgrade C, and gets us Perez for the rotation, I will happily bump his grade up to B.
  10. I'd get rid of all those horrible attitudes that won me a World Series too. Organizations win Championships. Remember that. When you're in last place.
  11. It WAS stupid. Our best hitter for a guy who spent 9 years in the minors, had one good year, and then went back to s***sville. 70 SBs. Yay! 1 for every time he gets on base. We could have gotten a much better return. Instead we went for the cash grab. :headshake
  12. If we were counting on Borchard, Timo would not be on the roster right now. Escobar will be ahead of him. Hell, I'll take Mario Valenzuela before him.
  13. Who says KW won't trade for him? We still have a plethora of 1B/DH types on the roster. Baltimore loves those guys.
  14. Exactly. Let's diss the guy making 1 mil who actually did something last year for the guy making 4 mil who did nothing and that we trade for every year. Trade his carcass for prospects, use that money to stay in the Clement bidding or even to use at the break. I have no problem with Escobar taking Everett's roster spot.
  15. Again, Timo is worth 1 mil just to keep Joe "Jose Valentin without the HRs" Borchard off the roster.
  16. :rolly I would be willing to wager a significant amount of money that if and when Thomas is healthy, Everett isn't even in the lineup, much less a major contributor.
  17. Signing Hairston to play 2B and bat second would be great. It's a gamble he'd stay healthy, but Willie could still be our speed utility player. Hairston's OBP last year was .378. And unlike Willie, he will actually try to steal a base. I'd be plenty happy adding him and Pierzynski. Neither of them should cost too much.
  18. Paying Perez 1 mil to keep Borchard off the roster definitely has value.
  19. OK, I'll bite: Why wouldn't we trade them? KW has tried to trade both in the past. We're CERTAINLY not counting on either to be major contributors this year. Thomas is hurt. Everett is, well, Everett. Now, Frank has a no-trade clause, so he'd be tricky. If KW could unload one or both of those contracts like he did Lee's, we would have Beltran money. Then Dye could DH. A pipedream? Absolutely. But if KW could dump the money for those 2 and get something valuable in return, he'd jump at the opportunity.
  20. Surprising. I wonder if this means Borchard and/or Escobar will be dealt. Certainly Everett will need someplace to play once Frank is ready to DH. Or does this mean Frank/Carl is headed somewhere? Vewy vewy intewesting.
  21. Signing Lowe would be giving the money and the opportunity to Lowe we never gave to Foulke. Talk about a statement.
  22. You may all now bow to the almighty Oracle. Jason Grilli it is.
  23. My boy Davis, prior to last year, threw out 36% in 2001, 44% in 2002, and 35% in 2003. Burke? 0% Fielding Pct: Davis is around .995 for career. Burke? .987 I can live with Burke, but it doesn't mean I want to. Pierzynski is leaps and bounds better than both, and Davis is better than Burke.
  24. Will Burke hit better? I could hit better than Davis. That's why he's a backup. Offense Defense. Somebody said Burke was good at throwing people out. I'd LOVE to see that argument backed up. It was an adventure just for him to catch the ball. I don't hate Burke, he is what he is. AAA fodder.
  25. Burke is good at what? He's the defensive equivalent of Rafael Palmeiro. Burke is AAA fodder. Sign AJ and we have actually upgraded at C from last year. Burke...
