  1. Shut up with the Nate Silver s***, guys, seriously. Practically everyone witha brain predicted Obama. Stop pretending this guy is smarter than everyone else that said the same exact thing.
  2. Well, ok now...Obama won, all our problems are solved...right? RIGHT?
  3. Mit getting crushed in Ohio. Race. Over.
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 03:01 PM) Fox News ‏@FoxNews Obama and Romney in a dead heat among undecided voters. Really? If they are truly undecided, then how do you know who they are voting for? ...um...they don't? I dont really understand your question. Looks like a poorly worded article/headline is what it looks like.
  5. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 01:33 PM) Im not sure I agree with Lohan's stance of ruining female actresses looks. That's ok, shes like the Biden of the Sheen ticket. Doesn't matter anyway, he cannot die.
  6. Changing my vote, last second...
  7. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 12:01 PM) Says the guy on SoxTalk right now... edit: he meant it as a joke, disregard my post, lol That's what made it a joke, btw...the fact that a guy on Soxtalk was saying it in the first place.
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 11:10 AM) Pretty much my take. That post you added was awful and ignorant. Saying people should take it seriously makes sense of course, and I totally agree. Saying if you vote you don't get to talk about changing the system is laughably stupid. Yea, pretty much. Then again, I also dislike it when people tell people who don't vote they can't have an opinion, too.
  9. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 10:54 AM) I work many hours as a fire fighter and a reserve in the Air Force. It was a joke.
  10. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 10:52 AM) Vice President Joe Biden makes unannounced stop in Cleveland en route to Chicago. Obama needs to lock him up in a windowless room until midnight tonight.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 10:50 AM) It's funny because Democrats don't work! None of the ones here do...they're all on Soxtalk!
  12. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 10:12 AM) Well that's the stated goal. It's a big confusing mess, and we should never amend our Constitution with big confusing messes. Agreed. And this sort of subterfuge annoys me about politics.
  13. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 10:09 AM) Gary Johnson is on 47 ballots. Jill Stein is on 42. They should both be on all 50, without having to jump through hoops to do so.
  14. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 10:11 AM) Amendment: Labor unions are worried that the language is confusing and imprecise enough that it'll allow back-door reductions in their guaranteed pensions, as Y2HH says. Constitutional Amendment 49 would change Section 5 of the General Provisions clause in the State Constitution so that a 60 percent vote would be required to approve a benefits increase for state pension plans, from the state level all the way down to local school boards. The amendment is 700 words long, full of confusing legalese past its lead sentence, and labor unions across Illinois believe Amendment 49's true purpose is to be a backdoor to remove the protections on the benefits of state employees. This is another problem with these law makers...using confusing legalese to pass laws that are completely grey area and full of potential for abuse.
  15. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 10:09 AM) Amendment 49 makes it so that any increase in pension benefits requires a 3/5's vote from the legislature instead of the typical 50%+1. Public-sector labor unions are primarily the target. I'll be voting no. We shouldn't be amending our state constitution to make one particular political preference a huge hurdle to overcome. edit: It doesn't actually address the current pension mess at all. I believe it's much more than that.
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 10:05 AM) So what's the deal with Amendment 49 in Illinois? It's written so incoherently, I believe they are trying to trick the voters. On first read, it sounds like it can help limit lawmakers' ability to increase their pensions. But after doing some research, apparently it makes it easier, eliminating current restrictions. It's kind of tough to determine what is actually going on with it. Cutting through all the bulls*** legalese, they want to make it possible to change pension rules on the fly, after the fact so the money they stole from the pensions never has to be repaid. I'm a pretty anti-union person, but f***ing with pensions isn't my game. These people paid into those pensions, and rather than holding up their end of the bargain, the governments decided to use the pension payments for other things. Now, they are looking for a way to weasel their way out of their obligations.
  17. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 10:00 AM) Not ever voting for them and ensuring that they remain locked out of the various avenues and ballot access isn't going to get one established. Again, there has to be a viable 3rd party first, and right now, there isn't. They aren't even on half the states ballots, and until something can be done about that, they will never be viable. Something has to be done about that, too...ballot access shouldn't be a thing like it is. I'm not saying it should allow for unlimited candidness, but it shouldn't be so hard to get a few alternates from D or R onto them.
  18. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 09:54 AM) Then wouldn't it make sense to just go ahead and vote 3rd party? There has to be a viable 3rd party first.
  19. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 09:50 AM) But what positive effect does not-voting have? How does that actually change anything? To play devils advocate, it shows a vote of no confidence, and if enough of said voters stop showing up, it allows an entry point into the political system for a viable 3rd party. If 20% of the people vote, and 80% are no longer showing up...that's a pretty huge slice of pie another party can rise up and grab. Versus voting for the garbage we have now...just because it's the thing to do.
  20. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 09:46 AM) Y2HH @Y2HH Vote Obama! He passed OBAMACARE! #4moreyears #obamacare Check this out: I'd support Obama before I supported Romney.
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 09:45 AM) Ilya Somin has a post up today at Volokh relating to this: http://www.volokh.com/2012/11/06/the-case-...u-are-ignorant/ I in no way expect, or even believe it's possible for any voter to know everything about the candidates they support. I merely ask they know SOMEthing, even very basic things, versus nothing, or the opposite of what the person actually stands for.
  22. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 09:44 AM) I just might have to do that, now that you mentioned it.. Please don't...Soxtalk probably doesn't have the storage space in it's database. And...it's pretty annoying. People who want to read twitters can go there and do that.
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 09:42 AM) While I get that, it's vote AND do this. Politicians don't look at voting numbers and thing, oh the voting population is lower than last year. They think "holy crap, I need to get another 3% of the people that actually vote!". And I've found that many of the people that preach that bulls*** don't actually take part in the day to day anyways. They use the same excuse for everything. It's righteous bulls***. It's amazing, democracy is. On this day a coal miner, a day trader and an electrician took part in the decisions of a country. That's still cool even today. Both sides of this argument take very complex, multifaceted issues and break them down into basic nothingness to make a profound point, and both sides always fail to convince anyone.
  24. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 09:40 AM) Chris Paul ‏@CP3 VOTE!!! #4MoreYears We need 4 more years from President Obama Paul McCartney sends his support to @BarackObama Are you seriously going to post retweets of everyone on Twitter that supports Obama?
