I honestly think people are just piling on this movie now because it's become the thing to do, and then pointing to critics to justify their preconceived opinion. These same critics loved Age of Ultron, and that was an utter disappointment. I can see not loving BvS, I can even see calling it average...but I outright disagree that it was bad. I personally loved it, and I was only expecting to like it.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 25, 2016 -> 10:50 PM) Ben Affleck and Jeremy Irons were great. Gal Gadot was good. Otherwise that might have been the worst film I've ever spent money at the theater on. Holy hell. It just tried too hard in every way. Give Nolan any amount of money to helm the DCEU. In other DC Film news, still amped for Suicide Squad and the Lego Batman trailer was great. Couldn't disagree more. I'd give it a 7.5-8 of 10. Wasn't perfect by any stretch, but I really liked it.

Was far better than the reviews have it credit for. Wasn't perfect but I really liked it. It's way better than the much higher rated Avengers 2.

QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 25, 2016 -> 02:29 PM) Yeah, you are in a a rather large minority there. Like I said, it's because of who played Red Skull. I just couldn't shake the Agent Smith/Mr. Anderson vibe I ALWAYS get from that actor no matter what role he plays. I cringed when he was in Lord of the Rings for the same reason.

Of the modern/recent crop of Superhero Movies (I'm talking the last decade or so...) Loved: Iron Man Batman Begins The Dark Knight Deadpool X-2: X-Men United X-Men: Days of Future Past Captain America: The Winter Soldier Spider-Man Spider-Man 2 Liked, didn't hate, but didn't love: Ant-Man (And I struggle not putting this in the hated section, but it had it's moments) Avengers Thor Thor: The Dark World Hulk Man of Steel Iron Man 3 The Amazing Spider-Man X-Men X-Men: First Class Hated: Captain America: The First Avenger Iron Man 2 Dark Knight Rises Avengers: Age of Ultron All Fantastic 4 movies Green Lantern Spider-Man 3 The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Superman Returns X-Men 3 The Wolverine It's a pretty even split of what I loved, liked and outright hated. I fully expect BvS to land in the liked section. Edit: Added a few.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 25, 2016 -> 01:56 PM) That was in regards to big box office = good movie. It's a poor defense for any movie. Thor 2 did well at the box office and was easily the worst Marvel film. I thought Captain America 1 was the worst Marvel film. Granted, Agent Smith playing Red Skull ruined the entire movie for me. I couldn't help but say, "Mr. Anderrrrsonnnn" every f***ing time he was on screen ruining that s***. And while X-Men movies aren't technically Marvel studios, it is their characters...and frankly, X-Men 3 was brutal.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Mar 25, 2016 -> 02:09 PM) After having a night's sleep, I've become more annoyed with all the side story lines that never get finished. I still think the cinematography is great, but good grief the movie jumps around. It's like listening to a drunk guy at the bar tell you random stories but never finish it. Just goes on to the next story. I think that's a product of having to set up the entire DC universe with practically one movie. A lot of those side stories are going to be told in stand-alone spinoffs they're currently filming, such as Wonder Woman and Aquaman.

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 25, 2016 -> 12:03 PM) Yeah. That maybe the dumbest meme ever. I actually was enjoying BvS...until the last 30 mins or so. Then it becomes the Snyder mess I was waiting for an looked like garbage. And it kept going and going. I don't regret seeing it but wouldn't watch it again. If by dumb you mean accurate, I agree.
-
QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 25, 2016 -> 07:58 AM) I know what to expect. I have the unique ability to like different things. Rainbows and unicorns of Marvel? Okee dokee. Just because Marvel movies are lit where you can see and follow the action? I actually agree that Ultron was disappointing but was still entertaining and advanced the universe. Yeah, that's why they're rainbows and unicorns. /s

Don't go see this if you enjoy the rainbows and unicorns of Marvels universe. This is pretty dark and unrelenting. I prefer DC movies like this over most Marvel movies. Deadpool being the exception because it was pretty anti-marvel, and X-Men doesn't count either, because it was only Marvel in name and wasn't made by them. Just keep in mind, RT gave Age of Ultron a 75% Tomatometer...and that movie was a steaming pile of disappointment.

QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Mar 21, 2016 -> 10:25 PM) Hm. Imagine that. http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/201...out-apples-help Impeccable timing, what with the hearing being scheduled to take place tomorrow (3/22) and all. This is just a short term delay. It's just a matter of time before a newer iPhone ends up in their hands under similar conditions where they revive the case. The iPhone in question is an iPhone 5C running and old version of iOS8. So many exploits and bugs have been patched since that they'll eventually need to go to Apple for help again.

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Mar 21, 2016 -> 10:42 PM) This page has since blown up. My favorite is Alex Snelius in loving memory of Ursula From that article, this paragraph right here: "But while Sale and others rip Williams for lying, why has nobody in a Sox uniform questioned LaRoche for quitting? Instead, Sox players built a shrine to a player who walked out on them because he couldn't bring his son to work whenever he wanted — rules the rest of working America lives by. For $13 million, that hardly seemed like too much for LaRoche's employer to ask." Couldn't agree more. Sale and Eaton went from my favorite current Sox players to absolute embarrassments as far as I'm concerned. This team apparently went from Paul Konerko being a leader (and winning a World Series), to Drake LaDouche being a leader ... and being one of the worst teams ever. Good job.

QUOTE (Tex @ Mar 10, 2016 -> 12:39 PM) When were you there last? We've been planning on going every couple of years to follow the blight and how nature is dealing with it. Last time was in the summer of 2009, so it's been quite a few years. I'm interested to see if I can notice any changes.

Returning to Estes Park/Rocky Mountain National Park this summer.

QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Mar 4, 2016 -> 09:08 AM) Speaking of conspiracy theories, here is the San Bernardino DA joining in on the fun. This is a cartoon. San Bernardino prosecutor raises concerns about ‘cyber pathogen’ in terrorist's iPhone They're so desperate to get the public on their side that they're just making s*** up now. What's frightening is the people in these high profile positions seriously sound like they get their information from episodes of NCIS or something.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 04:08 PM) I don't quite know what Carson is doing, but he's essentially out of the race. He won't be attending the debate on Thursday and sees no path forward. Not sure what exactly that means and why he hasn't yet suspended his campaign, but that clearly is next. I believe Carson did suspend his campaign today.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 02:57 PM) Maybe that's where the difference is here and we're talking past each other. "Taking him seriously" to me means "thinking he is not a joke candidate and actually has a shot at winning the nomination," not thinking his ideas and demagoguery have any serious merit. Kind of sounds like were just crossing signals here. Fools take a lot of things seriously that shouldn't be taken seriously is what I mean. There are massive amounts of people that believe in things like not vaccinating their kids, homophobia, racism, etc...they're free to believe in those things, even if they're wrong and/or stupid for doing so. And I may be totally wrong about everything in regard to Trump...it's just my opinion. It's not like my opinion of Trump is a fact. And for full disclaimer, I think people are fools that take Clinton seriously...I don't like Clinton OR Trump.
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 02:50 PM) Trump is almost definitely going to win the nomination and you think he'll do pretty well in the general election, but others are fools for discussing him as a serious candidate. OK. I think Trump is riding a wave of anti establishment. I think Trump says foolish things. I STILL can't take Trump seriously. I STILL think the people that would vote for him are fools. ...and I ALSO think there are a LOT of fools in our general population. ---- I'm not sure if you're being stupid on purpose or what. I think a person can think that he's a fool AND that people are fools for taking him seriously, AND ALSO believe he's going to do well BECAUSE of those fools. If this still isn't clear to you, the above line applies.
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 02:48 PM) Weren't you also telling people here how they were fools for taking Trump seriously a couple of months back? I still believe that. But there are a LOT of fools out there.
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 02:37 PM) There's a difference between underselling Trump and overselling others. No other candidate has any shot to win cleanly. The numbers are the numbers. Trump has to do better than he's been doing so far, in order to win. That's just what it is, and that is hard to accomplish. Not impossible of course. Besides, if it was really a bias thing based on party, I'd want Trump to win the nomination. He's going to get trounced in the general. What I actually want is for the GOP to nominate a candidate fit for the job. I wouldn't be sure about that. I think Trump is going to do way better than people think in the general, because he's getting a LOT of support from people claiming to NOT support him. And that will continue. I think people that believe Trump is going to get trounced in the general are in denial of how popular he actually is.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 1, 2016 -> 11:12 AM) NY Judge Scolds US in its Fight with Apple A ruling I was happy to see... And this in today, from the FBI/Apple testimony in the San Bernardino case... "Under questioning from members of the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, FBI Director James Comey admitted that his agency would "of course" seek to use the precedent gained from a win in the San Bernardino to unlock other phones." Uh huh...exactly as I figured. http://appleinsider.com/articles/16/03/01/...bernardino-case

The reality distortion fields in these Democrat/Republican threads are stronger than the force on steroids.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 29, 2016 -> 11:40 AM) Not what he said. Said probably the nominee, could be President. He's still saying he likely doesn't win the Presidency in his articles. But he's now saying he's got a good shot at the nomination. Whatever, Mr. Technical.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 29, 2016 -> 10:30 AM) Trump's numbers keep rising, above 40% now. Nate Silver tweeted Trump will win the primary, and has a very good chance at actually becoming President. https://twitter.com/NateSilver538/status/704324162639290368
