  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 09:34 AM) I feel like I've been reading these same posts from you for, oh, a decade. You were right for a few months around 2007-2008 - at least about selling the rallies anyway. Anyone that keeps making the same predictions on the market will eventually, however temporarily, be correct.
  2. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 12:57 PM) wheeeeeeeeeeeee! My accounts are nosediving. Not cool, guys. Not the first time this has happened...won't be the last.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 10:24 AM) He knows that you know that she doesn't know. He knows who/what?! In the movie, it's pretty clear Ren has never met/seen Ray in his life...so if she was one of those Jedi that Ren tried to kill when they were younger, he'd surely recognize her, unless somehow, both of their minds were wiped...which is a stretch.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 03:06 PM) Probably what would have happened in real life theory: Luke the professor starts giving special attention to Rey the student in Jedi School. Ben Solo, obsessed with gaining approval, can't handle it and starts following the person that will hurt Luke most, his father. Ren revolts, luke, not wanting to have his claim to youth lost, wipes her memory and leaves her on a desert island, just like a man. Part Eternal sunshine for the spotless mind, part scott evil. Doesn't explain why Ren doesn't know who she is, or at least, he doesn't appear to know her whatsoever.
  5. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 11:52 AM) Have we come to a consensus on Rey's parents yet? I know the big reason people say Luke can't be her father is that Jedi aren't supposed to have romantic relationships. But was Luke ever told that? That "rule" never even came up until Episode 2, long before he was born. I suppose Yoda or Obi Wan could have told him but they never really made a point of bringing it up in the original trilogy. 1) I hope it's not a rehash of the "lost twins" storyline, because it's already been done with Luke and Leah. 2) Technically...Luke isn't a Jedi. He left Degobah prior to his training being complete against Yoda's command...so one could say he was never officially one of them.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 07:20 AM) Also, Lawrence Phillips, 40, ex-Nebraska & NFL player Good.
  7. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 02:48 AM) I had no major issues with 3. Hell, I even liked 2 just as much. It was really episode 1 that I found horrible. As someone spoke of above -- that "nooooooooo" scene is embarrassingly bad...that should have been the moment of Vaders arrival on the scene, and it was just -- poorly directed, acted, ... it was poorly everything. It looked stupid, and sounded even stupider. It didn't do the Vader reveal justice in the least. f*** those prequels, they all sucked.
  8. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jan 13, 2016 -> 08:17 AM) I don't know how I've never seen that before...but that's awesome...and it's exactly what I mean.
  9. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 09:17 PM) What was wrong with the Yoda fight? He was the leader of the Jedi, he better be strong in a fight. Of all the things to complain about from the prequels, this isn't one for me. You expect the leader of the Jedi to be cool in a fight and he did some cool s***. The entire scene was just terrible. I'd always imagined that due to his size, that instead of wielding a light saber and jumping around like a spider monkey, Yoda would have concentrated his studies more in force control, something he kind of eludes too when he trains Luke, in that it's not about size or strength...but belief. It was basically the opposite of everything I'd ever imagined due to the physical realities of Yoda. IMO, it would have been WAY cooler to see that same fight, but instead of wielding a light saber and flipping around for reasons*, Yoda used nothing but force control. * Those 'reasons', are the same reasons why Jar-Jar would needlessly do back flips into lakes, and when he spun his head, his ears would flop around. It was those same reasons why Anakin/Padme had a picnic with a backdrop of 50,000 waterfalls which connected to a tiny stream that slowly rushed by them...when all that water should have basically recreated a scene from Noah's Ark. All of that nonsense was nothing more then George Lucas having his CG team unnecessarily show off their technology/graphics skills, and it's something he did throughout the prequels. None of it added anything, and often times came across as green screen silliness, because that's exactly what it was. ^^ Adding to this point above, this is exactly why I loooooooved the light saber battle in Force Awakens...it was sloppy, unhinged, unpracticed, and all over the place. Basically, opposite of the WAY overly choreographed light saber battles throughout the prequels. And while that choreography may have looked cool at times, when I watch it now, it just looks silly...overly practiced, and unrealistic. Sword fights don't work that way, especially ones involving laser swords against foes you've never seen or faced before...and it messes with my ability to suspend reality. Even the fights in Empire/Return looked far better and less practiced (and those were being performed by trained jedi knights), as they should have, since Luke/Vader only faced each other 2 times in their lives...where as Darth Maul and the duo faced each other exactly once, and it looked like some sort of choreographed Michael Flatly Lord of the Dance routine.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 05:41 PM) Amazon really pushing more oil drums on me. Now you've gone and done it...Amazon probably has you profiled as some oil tycoon now.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 01:54 PM) Speaking of: it's not like delivery services are lowing prices. Shouldn't they see some bigger margins from gas being $2 cheaper? They don't look like any price boon is built into their stocks now. I actually recall some services raising prices due to how must gasoline cost at one time -- always quick to raise a price, very slow to lower.
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 01:53 PM) The barrels themselves are more expensive than what's inside of it. I actually wonder how close this is to being true.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 01:07 PM) Except that isn't true. Cash payout is $930 million. Subtract out federal taxes of 39.6%, and that leaves you just short of $561 million (assuming you live in a state tax free state, if not, it is worse). To buy each ticket combination would cost you about $585 million. I think there is an added gambling tax on top of all that, too.
  14. QUOTE (shysocks @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 01:49 PM) ^ Closest thing to a tantrum in this thread.
  15. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 01:38 PM) post more about how posting in this thread is dumb Can't help it...I'm bored. Crap, I must have wandered into a Star Wars thread...one voice of dissent and all the crybaby star wars fans begin to cry...like babies...how totally not stereotypical.
  16. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 01:22 PM) If you want to discuss a theory and why it doesn't make sense, then go ahead. If you want to just diss the conversation going on in this thread, then just stay out. I already said why these theories make no sense...because they cater to the hard core fan base that Disney clearly doesn't give a f*** about. This trilogy is being written for casuals, and that's that.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 01:17 PM) Who cares? It makes for good discussion here for the people involved. I care. Hence the post. And "good discussion" is subjective...because these theories suck.
  18. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 01:09 PM) Right...there was no Yoda backstory. He was just a really old and accomplished Jedi Master. Snoke could just be a bad dude with a power grab. Or maybe a clone that went bad. Or someone like Finn...a snatched kid that became a Stormtrooper and moved up the ranks instead of out like Finn. The problem with Yoda's back story is it went from dark and mysterious to outrageously stupid and comical when a midget was doing flips like monkey while wielding a saber...and it looked -- as Robert Downey Jr. would say -- full on retard. ...and for the record, I really really liked parts 5, 6 and 7 (4 was also good, just not as good as those three). Parts 1-3 were an embarrassment.
  19. The problem with most of these fan theories is about 2% of the audience that will see these movies would even understand any of this, let alone give a crap...and given that this is Disney were talking about...the only thing they're going to cater too is the casual fan that equates to huge $.
  20. And Snoke is clearly Voldemort from Harry Potter. Sorry for spoilers.
  21. I think people are just wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy overthinking this whole Star Wars thing.
  22. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 04:10 PM) I have always had AdBlock on my computer. I am positive I got it from a torrent I downloaded and I cleaned everything up right away once I noticed it downloaded stuff on my CPU.. I'm not sure how to go about formatting my computer to make sure everything is good. If you think UBlock is better I will get that. I just scanned again with AVG and 1 threat was found. It was a Trojan Horse (first one from yesterday and today). I probably should clean my PC and just restart. I also scanned using Malwarebytes and there were 0 threats found Don't get uBlock unless that's all that available -- you want uBlock Origin (the other is a fork of the original uBlock, and not quite as good). uBlock uses way less ram/cpu to accomplish the same thing as adblock, and doesn't make money allowing certain ads to get through...it also does a lot more.
  23. To add to my previous post -- the reason I recommend such an extension is because odds are, all of that malware you had on your system came off browsing websites -- and no, to dispel a rather popular opinion, it's NOT just porn sites that spread this stuff...legit sites, from si.com to espn have unknowingly had malware spreading ads on their sites.
  24. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 09:09 AM) on AVG it was about 30 and then I ran another one that found the rest so I don't think they were major but it has actually be fine since I posted that I'd recommend a reboot, update those definitions and re-run those scans just to make sure...you may have gotten lucky here, but usually, when the number found is that high, it's never a good thing. I'd recommend getting uBlock Origins (Chrome extension), and enabling all of the following: uBlock Origins is basically an advanced ad blocker, that also blocks malware sites, and has the Disconnect.me definitions included, so it also protects you from the same malicious websites as the Disconnect extension (so you wouldn't need both). It's the bet ad blocker there is, I highly recommend it.
