  1. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 12:28 PM) Not sure I said that anywhere, but that is me. If the Sox are out...I'm done. If something big happens, I'll see the highlights. As for football, I don't care about the Superbowl anymore, but I will still watch it for the entertainment value. I don't get as much entertainment value out of baseball without the Sox in it. Superbowl parties mean more than the Superbowl does unless your team is in it. Oh, and the commercials are dumb now, too...so we don't even get to look forward to that anymore.
  2. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 12:11 PM) If someone calls my girl a ho, I wouldn't wait for her to punch his a**. Seriously? I honestly don't care what anyone calls my wife, or myself...I'd not hit them for such a stupid reason. This is what neanderthals with peanut sized brains do. Not only is an anger reaction not worth it for someone being obnoxious and stupid, but a complete waste of energy. Why would you waste your time on a person like that? You punch them...and get sued and/or go to jail...I missed where this was smart.
  3. And no, I don't know him, or his opinions...I just like to argue for no reason.
  4. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 12:17 PM) Yep before Obama I had never heard of Rahm Emmanuel, I didnt even know who his father, Benjamin, was because he wasnt a well known Jewish Dr or anything. In fact I wouldnt know that Rahm went to Ashe Emet. where my mothers friends taught, nor would I know that he went to New Trier High School, where a considerable amount of my friends want. Your right, I never knew of Rahm until the day I was walking passed an Obama for Senate sign and I remarked that was awfully close to Osama. If anything I know far more about Rahm, than I ever will know about Obama. I can say who I believe is qualified, its called my opinion. Everyone is entitled to it, so you can disagree that with it, but the rest of your statement is just patently wrong and basically destroys any credibility that you may have had on this matter. Blah blah blah, bias bias bias. Rahm is a corrupt piece of garbage, and I hope he can't run. ...and I get that it's your opinion on who is qualified...as is mine...but your opinion is simplistic, black and white bias, mine isn't. That, if anything, destroys your credibility in this argument. You say Rham is the ONLY one qualified...in your opinion...well, that's a simple, closed minded, biased opinion...so you're the one without credibility here. My opinion is that there ARE other qualified candidates... And there are. You are summarily dismissed in your attempt to assassinate my credibility while showing nothing but an opinionated bias for your "favorite"...therefore he MUST be the only one qualified.
  5. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 11:52 AM) Didn't say I didn't care about what my fellow posters have to say about the SB, about the game itself, not too much. Ohh, nice sidestep on the Paradox.
  6. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 11:29 AM) couldn't care less about the SB Yet you care enough to click on a post dedicated to the Superbowl you claim to not care about? PARADOX!
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 11:07 AM) You just used it in your previous post, dummy. I have no idea what you're talking about, because I did not.
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 10:58 AM) Hence my name. Nobody even remembers your name.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 09:49 AM) I'm actually roommates with Chris Nolan and he told me he hasn't had an original idea since 4th grade....plus he loathes you. Damn, you win. You even get to refer to him as Chris. :( He makes me call him Mr. Nolan, or Christopher.

Oh, and not only am I more original than you, but I know Del Toro because we play in a softball league together...and he told me he's not original, and furthermore, you aren't either.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 09:41 AM) Not really. Gaspar Noé, Michel Gondry, and Guillermo del Toro are examples of originality. Nobody cares about the first two, and Del Toro isn't original, either, by your rational. All lift ideas from others, therefore their originality is lost in translation. Eternal Sunshine wasn't original either. Del Toro directed Blade II and Helboy II. Original? Why? Because of Pan's Lab?

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 09:38 AM) I didn't say the plot was the same. They "backwards" style of the film was. That was the gimmick for each of those films. The gimmick in Memento wasn't a gimmick in that they simply filmed it backwards like they did with Irreversible. For all intents and purposes, Irreversible filmed backwards for no real reason, other than style. What was done in Memento was a concept to make that gimmick more than just filming backwards for style points. It was shot backwards so that like the male lead, you -- the viewer -- were also stricken with short term memory loss. To me, that's pretty original in comparison.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 09:31 AM) The polls will drastically change if Rahm is out. I think a lot of his votes would go to Chico. Rahm will get back in, I simply hope he doesn't. I called him winning this election before Daley even announced he wouldn't run again.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 09:37 AM) My point still stands. Nolan isn't very original IMO. Also, Irreversible wasn't even about a person with short term memory loss, which is the entire concept behind Memento.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 09:33 AM) The style used in Memento is a rip off of from the film Irreversible. He did an almost shot for shot remake of Insomnia. Inception is a movie that uses elements from a ton of sources such as the Matrix. I don't think of originality when I think of Nolan and I'm a big fan of his. The Matrix wasn't original either, in story, you can keep going back and saying every movie lifted ideas from other movies...so what? The originality comes into play in how it was set designed/filmed and edited, the same with the Matrix so far as bullet time, but other than that, there was nothing original there. And irreversible was a failure and complete crap, Memento wasn't.
  19. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 08:49 AM) Yes, because if anything can make this discussion more civil it's this kind of talk. When talking about all matters Guillen there’s no need to make anything more divisive. I don't think anyone's saying that they'd have liked what went down at the roast to have escalated, but clearly some kind of divine power needs to sweep in and tell Oney to shut up. Lostfan was just offering that someone's fist would be a plausible solution. I'm just messing with him, he'll know that when he reads what I said.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 08:35 AM) You understand then that no one should give any credence to your belief that Rahm is not the most qualified candidate, since you're unwilling to make that case? You misrepresent what I said. I said nothing of most or least qualified as this is merely a degree of opinion, I said he wasn't the ONLY qualified candidate, and he's not.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 08:27 AM) Just out of curiosity...who out there are you thinking of? That's an opinion I do not wish to share.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 08:13 AM) Y2HH, I know you can't help but be condescending, but everyone in the filibuster beside perhaps yourself, as this was probably just you projecting, had heard of Rahm Emanuel long before Obama. When he was congressman for the 5th he was routinely on meet the press and was a lot like Anthony Weiners position now, in addition to that he chaired the DCCC during the 2006 dem wave in the house. After that he became the 4th ranking Dem in the house. And this is if you hadn't seen him during the time he was an advisor to the clinton white house. He was one of the most visible dem politicians of the last 15 years. Speaking of condescending...I too, know who he is, without needing you to post his resume. I'm sure he thanks you for that, however. He still sucks, he's still corrupt, he's still dripping with slime and I hope he can't run. None of this changes the fact that he's not the only qualified candidate.
  23. IMO, the Bears became a good team in a 2010 league of mediocrity, and while that success shined this year, in former years they wouldn't have looked so good. That aside because this didn't take place in former years, this year was a perfect storm for them, they blew it...and it's over. They will not see an opportunity like this presented to them again for a LONG time. The Packers have like 3000 people on IR, and they're STILL good (again, in the 2010 M.F.L. mediocre football league) The Lions will not be free wins (or as close to free wins as you can get) anymore for the NFCN. The Vikings will rebound. Their best chance with an severely aging team was THIS year.
  24. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 07:28 PM) Supreme Court Justices are in a dicey situation. These are elected positions and if you go the wrong way you could end up not being reelected. No matter what, the spirit of the law is being corrupted here. I dont think anyone can honestly say that this situation is the type that the law was created to prevent, unfortunately it was poorly worded and you get bad results. If Rahm isnt able to run, get ready for some bad times in Chicago because Im not sure that any of the other candidates are qualified, except for the fact they lived in Chicago for the past year. And is that really all that matters? There ARE other qualified people running for Mayor, not just Rahm, sorry to break it to you. Before Obama, odds are you never even heard the name Rahm, and suddenly he's the only qualified mayoral candidate in Chicago because you say so? I think not. Rham sucks, and I hope he can't run so he can't win what would have been handed to him on a silver platter by retarded Chicago voters. This guy is a slimeball and as corrupt as they come.

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 04:54 PM) I watched parts of "Memento" the other night on the dish, and in a weird way it made me appreciate "Inception" even more. The word "genius" is overused, but Christopher Nolan and his brother are obviously very, very intelligent as well as extremely creative writers and film makers. I liked "The Prestige" a lot too, which I think is somewhat underrated, though not in the same class. What I really like about Nolan is his tendency to attempt originality in an era of almost none. Memento and Inception are excellent movies, and the more you watch them, the more you catch and the more it all begins to make sense. While the main theme of Inception is far fetched, so what...most movies are far fetched, so why people are using those words to describe this particular movie baffles me when everything out there is far fetched, but lacks originality or creativity.
