QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 02:35 PM) Script: Y2HH: Hey can I use your internet? lostfan: yes Y2HH: What's your key? lostfan: (gives key) Y2HH: Thanks. THE END That movie sucked. Though that Y2HH does deserve an Oscar for that performance...

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 02:30 PM) Or you could just be like "hey can I use your internet" That's much less dramatic and intriguing. You way would make for a very boring movie.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 02:21 PM) LOL. That was my pm. It works great, but I got it back in the day when you didn't have to pay annuals - I got a lifetime license. Don't accidentally paste you're license on here or anything. :/

QUOTE (Tex @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 02:17 PM) Agreed. But there are fewer strength of signal issues and security is better. Can't argue that. But what I will do is crawl beneath your house, drill into the floor, use a spy pen camera to locate where your computer room is and where the wires are...drill beneath that, cut into the wire and hax you. I will then post mean things about people on Soxtalk as you, especially Lostfan.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 02:16 PM) I thought about buying AnyDVD, but I figured I'd ask around first. Can you make a .mp4 or .avi out of a decrypted file? You use Handbreak to do that, yes. AnyDVD is considered the defacto gold standard when it comes to this...but you have to pay for it -- I just don't know how much. MAC and Linux users get to skate around this because VLC works with handbreak to decrypt/rip without having to use 2 programs seperatly to do it...lucky us!

QUOTE (Tex @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 02:13 PM) Back to home networks, sometimes wires are good, I don't know why some poeple are afraid of them. They take up space and limit where and how you can place computers -- and the speed/latency isn't much different anymore.
-
You can use DVDecrypter, I think this is free, but it's older and has problems with newer DVD encryption methods, or you can get (http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html) AnyDVD, which will only run for 20 something days before you need to buy a license... If you get either of these, what you will do is decrypt the DVD (it will save it decrypted onto your hard drive), then use Handbreak to encode it to a decrypted DVD file you can create DVD's out of.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 01:26 PM) I still don't have a clue on how to rip DVDs. Copy protection, ugh. I want to archive my own s***, I don't see how that's unethical. I told you how. What's the problem? I've ripped countless of my DVD's with Handbreak, no problems. EDIT: I see the problem, looks like the makers of Handbreak were forced to remove commercial DVD decryption from the program. I use a Mac and as long as you're a Mac user with VLC (something pretty much every mac user installs), you don't have to worry about this, same for Linux -- however, in Windows, people don't install such things...

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 01:57 PM) I agree, just look at the number of nutrition companies you can find on one of these discount sites. http://www.bulknutrition.com/?products_id=7200 its amazing. I actually generally use shakes as a hunger supression tool as I am always hungry and the shakes seem to curb those cravings and also help with recovery. On a daily basis I get most of my protein from chicken or fish, but have tried to incorporate more egg whites. I take in about 50-75 from shakes and any additional comes from what I eat for dinner. Lunch is mostly vegetables. Yea, that sounds more like me then. I'm around 50g from supplements, the rest from other things like peanut butter (despite it's fat content, it has good fat in it), meat, etc. That's not quite as bad as I read into it when you mentioned the 1 or 2 shakes + the beach body stuff.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 01:52 PM) My friend works for a wholesale supplement store and their cost is very low, shows you how much they mark that s*** up. Online you can get them for about 2 bucks each for the 11oz if you search a little bit. I use both the canister and the RTD, but I grab a RTD every morning on my way to work as breakfast and then maybe one at the gym, or if I workout at home i'll use the canister and actually do a scoop of reg and one of lite. Im also a cheeseball and I bought the P90x recovery drink just for the hell of it. http://www.beachbody.com/product/supplemen...very_formula.do You need to be careful with these supplements -- to many of them can cause kidney problems and liver damage. I usually use one supplement type drink per day, never more. It's good booster protein, but it shouldn't be your primary source of protein, that should always come from real food, meat, fish, etc. My theory is that this is why athletes are made of glass these days, too much cheap quality proteins (from supplements) rather than getting their fuel from real meat, etc. I'm convinced of this. Just from supplements it sounds like you're intaking upwards of 100g of protein a day...or am I mistaken? That's kind of a lot unless you weigh over 200.

Just checked, the nutrition on the light varieties almost perfectly matches what you posted.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 01:45 PM) I get em for about a dollar each. Also the power in the canister which I have also isnt what you posted earlier, they have changed it quite a bit. The lite version is also fairly good as well but not as tasty. I believe you posted the older version of the powder which scared me away a few years ago because of the fat content until someone told me they changed it. I recommend the ON protein powder however since you can add it to anything, juice, cereal etc and it add 20 g of protein to any substance. its pretty damn good. Where do you get these for 1$ each? Hook it up. Edit: What I posted was directly off of Muscle Milks own website. You must be talking about the lighter versions or something -- protein powders taste bad enough without being diet versions. :/
-
Edit: That's not the muscle milk powder, the numbers I posted above are what the powders render, this looks like a pre-mixed 1/2 serving. That's what you're taking -- that's those individual pre-mixed Muscle Milk brand shakes...that's great for people who can spend 4-5$ on a single supplement drink everyday, but for the rest of us, buying the powders+fruit causes each drink to cost about 1$ in comparison. :/

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 09:49 PM) Ok, I'll do that. Have you ever tried the powerline connections though? They work like a charm. I wish I had thought of this earlier when I was having so much trouble making Xbox Live get along with my router. Ugh that took like 3 hours to straighten out and I could've just plugged it in and not had to worry. Yes, I've used them, but my wireless network has solid signal to everything in my house, so I have no need of that.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 09:43 PM) When I go to the settings page for "security mode" it says Disabled WPA/WPA2-Personal (PSK) 128 bit WEP 64 bit WEP Authentication: WPA-PSK (using this) WPA2-PSK WPA-PSK + WPA2-PSK Encryption technique: TKIP AES (using this) Which combination is the best? I'm using a 360 too and I'll have to go change the security settings. Then use WPA-PSK + WPA2-PSK, just make sure the password isn't super easy to guess -- it should be something randomized. This way, things in your house that can use WPA2 will use it, and things that cannot (like the Xbox360) will use WPA. After you input the password once, you shouldn't have to enter it again, unless you change it in the future.
-
QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 09:34 PM) Awesome. Thanks. I'm playing around with the security settings right now and I picked WPA/WPA2 AES. You could break the WEP but you kind of don't count though. You're a techie geek. Well, it's not all that hard -- anyone can search "wep crack" on the internet and with a few simple tools and many examples of how to do it, it's quite easy. You can probably do it and crack all you're neighbors wep keys (if they're still using them, and most are) and change all their wireless passwords and look at what they're doing/access their network. Edit: For the record, I'm not recommending this -- as it's illegal and I'd never recommend you do something illegal, no matter how educational. Anyway, WPA/WPA2 AES is good, it's way better than what you were using -- but WPA2 is the best. The only issue with a modern household is an Xbox360 on wireless doesn't support WPA2 because Microsoft is retarded, but everything else I have does support it...so I also use WPA/WPA2, if and when Microsoft fixes this I'll make it pure WPA2.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 09:16 PM) With computers I never really went in knowing what I was doing, I just kinda wing it. This will probably be the same. I have a N router which has some decent range (and a WEP key, I'm not gonna be one of those people that gives away my internet bandwidth), but it's down in the basement and upstairs on the Xbox the reception is reliable, but weak. So for streaming video it skips and stutters a lot, and it's really unwatchable. Browsing my mp3 library is also really slow. The media center will be on the middle floor. The reception there would probably be strong enough to do basic things but I can't see it streaming 1080p without any trouble unless I wire it. Do you know how to rip DVDs? i.e., know a good program to help me make digital versions of all my stuff? 1) I can crack your "WEP" key in under 2 minutes. You may as well have no security on your wireless band, WEP is useless. You're router undoubtedly supports WPA2/AES,TKIP -- switch to that -- it's actually secure. 2) If you can move you're wireless router, or get a repeater/wireless expander, do that and put one of them upstairs to fix you're weak connectivity issues. 3) Yes, I know how to rip DVD's, go download Handbreak (http://handbrake.fr/?article=download), it's free, it rips DVDs in many formats (for TV's iPhones, iPODS, Zunes, etc...), it has a number of presets you can select and basically click "rip" and depending on how fast you're computer is, you'll have you're rip.

QUOTE (Tex @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 08:53 PM) Perhaps you would want your representative to just do whatever the "in" party wants, but more people want their representative to continue to fioght for what got him/her elected in their district. Holy hell, without a doubt -- removing the only party line we have would be catastrophic. If anything, we don't have ENOUGH checks and balances in this country since it runs on a 2 party system. If representatives did whatever the "in" party wanted all the time -- this would be communist Russia, circa 1982 -- not the USA.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 09:04 PM) I'm not exactly a n00b when it comes to this stuff, I've had a router set up for years now, but I'm thinking of adding on stuff and I still am not really sure what the f*** I'm doing. Anyone else ever done this? This is what I want to do - I have obviously a desktop, a small laptop that I just have for my wife and to dick around with, and a second desktop (sitting in a semi-operable state). I'm thinking of getting a network storage kit, the kind that lets you put 4 SATA drives in it, and store my music collection and some movies there. The end goal is to be able to watch TV on the flat screen/stereo system I'm about to buy to put in my living room and I guess I need some kind of media extender for that. I'm already set upstairs in the flat screen in my room since I have a Xbox 360 up there. I also want to set up some sort of WAN to let my dad and my friends use my stuff. I'm just wondering, am I off base here? This is all possible right? Also, in the process of researching this I discovered powerline ethernet, something I didn't know existed until yesterday. So I use these things instead of trying to drill holes and hide wires in my house. They work like a charm. Yes, it's all possible -- and you don't really need wires anymore, you can go completely wireless in a secure manner and it's fast/reliable. I have an 802.11n network set up in my home on the n/g frequency (2ghz+), if I were to go completely n, I could use the 5ghz band, which has more distance, but that's not feasible as certain items in my house do not know how to do wireless N still. I have OSX, XP, Vista, and an Xbox360 (and iPhones) on my wireless network, all capable of communicating with anything it was granted access too on the network. If you ever do go wireless, be sure to use wpa2/aes on wireless networks with a non-usual password like d$eAlD13Fd! and you won't have much to worry about security wise...anyway, what you're describing IS doable...as I have something similar set up, but it's all wireless. The hardware portion of this type of install is the easy part -- setting up shared drives with security and proper user rights (so people can't delete your stuff) is more involved, but even that's not terribly hard to do.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 02:55 PM) Y2HH, What about my current routine? Do you see any issues with primary/secondary muscles being worked on the same day? Chest Legs/triceps Shoulders Back/Biceps I throw in a an ab routine on days where I have more free time. Yes, working back and biceps on the same day essentially saves you an off day -- meaning you can get an extra day off by combining these -- but you'll never get the same workout when you tire a set of secondary muscles while working another set of primary muscles, and then going back and working those secondaries as if they were now the primaries. I hope you follow what I just tried to say. For example, if you hadn't tired out your biceps throughout your back workout (and to an extent you will do this), you'd probably be able to curl much more weight for more reps during your arm workout, but since you're arms are already tired from the back exercises (pulling motions), you're now lifting less and getting less bang for your buck when it comes to your arms. I tend to separate my split with legs -- so that gives my arms and shoulders time to recuperate before they're used again as assist muscles. Working biceps and triceps one day (arms) followed by shoulders, then going to legs, then going to chest and back (in any order) keeps all secondary muscles away from each other, so every set of muscles gets nailed as a primary on it's specific day. If you do this you're intensity will be much higher, and here is no two ways about it...there is NO way you can tax your arms and then effectively do back or chest workout to the same degree (or even close), no matter what anyone tries to sell you. I suggest figuring out which muscles are considered secondaries on every exercise you do, write them down and figure out how to seperate them so they don't overlap without at least 48 hours rest between them. When you work chest/pecs, your front shoulder muscle (anterior deltoid) and the tricep muscles are used as secondaries, that said, you wouldn't want to work either of them following up chest unless you're one and only goal is to save time. If you combine these, obviously you can work out less days, but you will NEVER get the same intensity by doing so. My typical arm day: I'm currently 5'7" 158lbs (or so). I log all of my workouts, so I know what I lifted and when and how many times -- (I use the iPhone app called iFitness, it logs it all). Warmup: Standing Bicep Curl (2 handed bicep exercise) 40lbs (straight bar) 2 hands -- 40lbs @20 rep 40lbs (straight bar) 2 hands -- 40lbs @10 rep Set 1: 60lbs @10 reps Set 2: 75lbs @8 reps Set 3: 85lbs @6 reps French Press (laying down, 2 handed tricep exercise) Same warmup as Standing Bicep Curl Same sets/weight progression as Bicep Curl but all @10 reps each Single arm cable bicep curl Set 1: (each arm) 45lbs @8 reps Set 2: (each arm) 50lbs @6 reps Set 3: (each arm) 55lbs @4 reps Dip (unassisted dip, tricep exercise) Set 1: Bodyweight @10 reps Set 2: Bodyweight @10 reps Set 3: Bodyweight @10 reps Hammer Preacher Curl (1 hand) Set 1: (each arm) 25lbs @10 reps Set 2: (each arm) 30lbs @8 reps or to failure Cable Single Arm inverted tricep pulldown (palm faces up when you do these) Set 1: (each arm) 45lbs @10 reps Set 2: (each arm) 50lbs @8 reps or to failure As I get into better shape again these weights will increase, keep in mind I took quite a few months off because I decided (stupidly) to be a lazy hack...and now I get to pay for it. Done. Now, there is NO way I could do that arm workout after I did my back workout, which includes wide arm unassisted pullups, rowing, pulldown, supermans, and more rowing...there is simply NO way, the same would apply if I had just finished a chest workout. One main rule -- if you insist on combining, ALWAYS work out the larger muscles first, as they will NOT tire as fast as the secondary assist muscles. Such as, if you insist on doing biceps and back on the same day, BACK should be targeted first, not the other way around. Keep in mind I'm 5'7" and less than 160lbs, so if you weigh 240lbs, you will need to increase the weight accordingly. Keep in mind that the objective here is NOT to injure yourself or to "out lift" the person you're with or some other guy in the gym. Lift carefully and always with proper form.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 04:54 PM) muscle milk, dont have to add anything. IMO, Muscle Milk has wayyyyyyyyy to much fat/calories per serving -- it's like a semi-weight gainers/protein shake with vitamins. It's more of a meal replacement than a protein supplement, which is what the above shake is really made for. Oh, and I think Muscle Milk tastes like crap, the point of this thread was for shakes that do NOT taste like crap. Edit: 2 scoops of muscle milk: Calories 350 Calories from Fat 160 Total Fat 18 gm 28% Saturated Fat 8 gm 40% I could have eaten half a friggin' Pizza, if not more, with the same caloric/fat intake with even MORE protein (cheese contains lots of it). No thanks on Muscle Milk. Not to mention 2 scoops of MM is about 10g LESS protein than what is in my shake, with 1/2 the calories, with almost NO fat. Lean and mean...lean and mean!

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 22, 2009 -> 11:26 PM) That's pretty good maintanance for 1.5 years of being lazy. Things could be a whole lot worse. You're right though, it takes forever to make gains and it can be lost so quickly. You aren't kidding...it's so easy to make excuses with all the distractions we have at home these days, from game consoles, computers, tv's...whatever, and it's easy to fall into a rut of convincing yourself you're not feeling any worse (when you are). I have a decent metabolism, so eating poorly doesn't affect me as much as others...but when it comes to trimming bodyfat, when we don't see immediate results, it's easy to just give up for any number of reasons.
