QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 8, 2009 -> 02:51 PM) I'd strongly disagree with that assessment. I'm sure you would, and so would most modern uber health nuts. People overdo things these days, anyway you cut it. If they eat bad...they tend to eat REALLY BAD. If they eat healthy, they tend to eat TOO healthy. People have lost their way in understanding and grasping the concept of moderation. We live in an extreme age. Whether that extreme being uber healthy or uber crappy...it's extreme...and it's bad. There IS a happy medium...but that happy medium is different for EACH individual person, no matter how you slice it or dice it. There is no universal diet. What works for you does not work for me, and visa versa. There is, however, a balance for each individual, and it's up to them to find it for themselves. But eating nothing but modern health crap isn't necessarily any better for you than eating garbage all the time...and I say that because unlike the person above (forget the name off hand) that mentioned eating non processed whole foods -- the majority of modern dieters eat processed diet foods almost EXCLUSIVELY...and they're filled with chemicals which haven't had the 30 years of study necessary to know if they're any better for you (or even worse for you). Feel free to disagree with me, but you won't know if your right or wrong until a lifetime of data on these modern diet chemical replacements prooves otherwise...and my bet is on them being even worse for you than the real thing they're trying to save you from.

If Pods gets recalled, will Fields change his #?

QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 8, 2009 -> 02:43 PM) Fields can say whatever he wants in the press doesn't really matter. Podsednik was going to ask for his number back, he said as much before he was recalled, IMO you have to be more than a marginal ballplayer in order to get that sort of respect. It doesn't matter if Fields is a "star" he's the starting 3B and a better player than the washed up CF the Sox signed to a minor league deal a month back. It has nothing to do with any dislike I have for Podsednik, could be anyone. If Dustin Hermanson came back and wanted his old number I'd feel the same damn way and I was a fan of Dustin's. And when Podsednik is gone a month from now (if Ozzie sticks to his word that's exactly what should happen) then our former 1st round pick and starting 3B will have given up his number to a 1 month replacement player. You know Pods isn't going away anytime soon as long as he keeps hitting anywhere near .300 regardless of what Oz said. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 8, 2009 -> 02:33 PM) Nope, wrong guy. I sell software. You sell your own software or resell?

Heh, with property values at all time lows, have it reassessed.

I'd like to attend this since for the first time I won't be off on one of my exploration deep woods camping trips for a change! Mostly just to show up and meet some of you guys, but I'm not all that into softball...so I'll just watch unless something happens and you absolutely need a player in an emergency!

I mean, really...how could you NOT want a super steak sammich for lunch and a few scoops of Cake Batter Batter Batter ice cream from cold stone after dinner? Believe me, I tried this type of diet once -- and yes, I got down to 7% bodyfat when being pretty strict...but I had to cut that diet off because I just can't live without those foods that I love so much. My wife, however, isn't happy with how I can do this...I load my house with garbage foods and while it doesn't affect me much, it will affect her. For example, I have 3 jugs of cold stone ice cream in the freezer. Chips. Candy. Aerosol cheese and Ritz, too! Yum!

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 8, 2009 -> 02:23 PM) You bastards and your ability to actually burn off the things you eat...argh... Well, I'm not the type that burns stuff without having to be active -- I'm the type that can get away with eating whatever, including things like Great Steak & Potato/McDonalds for lunch, but as long as I work out I put on muscle instead of fat. But I'm also not the no bodyfat skinny guy who can't put on muscle to save his life either...so if I decided to be really lazy and never work out or be active, I'd start gaining weight, just not as fast as some.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 8, 2009 -> 02:22 PM) You have made an enemy today. Why, what'd I say? :/

I really feel sorry for some of you dieters. I know these diets...I know these types of crappy flavored light/fat free foods...I'm happy my metabolism allows me to basically eat what I want while retaining a muscular build. Eating "healthy" is 1) expensive, and 2) a pain in the ass, and I put healthy in "'s because healthy and this new-age modernized uber healthy are vastly different things.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 8, 2009 -> 02:06 PM) It's ridiculous. Scott Podsednik is just simply not a good enough player to pull this s***, he's been a marginal ballplayer for the majority of his career, HE'S the guy that other should be giving up his number to a new acquired star, not the other way around. Just the fact that Podsednik was willing to ask our STARTING THIRD BASEMAN to kindly relinquish his number bothers me. I believe Fields had said he really didn't like the idea of wearing a former world series winners number who's back on the team...he said it didn't feel right. And no matter how bad Pods is, that's exactly right. And let's stop pretending like Fields is a "star". He's not. This gangrape soxtalk mentality for and against certain players is the most annoying thing about this place. -
It's not fake, but it is disgusting... :/

Never liked electric for much other than trimming, they take longer and I find them uncomfortable.

QUOTE (G&T @ May 2, 2009 -> 06:41 AM) To be fair, he didn't force a balk. That guy just has a bad move. Meanwhile, I was surprised how much more attention Pods got when he reached base than any other guy on the team. Yea but if it was almost anyone else on our team, they wouldn't have even bothered with a pickoff move. Even if it's more mystique from his former years than it is reality now, pitchers still think of him as annoying/dangerous when hes on base -- and that's advantage us.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 08:02 AM) Club level. Rush! Isn't a 24" sammich a bit over doing it?! Seriously.

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Apr 26, 2009 -> 02:25 PM) someone will break away from the rest of the pack, mauer comes back for the twins soon and they're 3-0 in 1-run games, they could be the team to do it despite being under .500 right now I don't see it...the Twins are -23 in run differential, so their record is way better than it actually should be all things considered. The Tigers are the only team of the top three teams with + double digit run diff, the Sox and the Royals are the other two. -

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 26, 2009 -> 02:22 PM) anyone else feel like this 4 team logjam at the top of the AL central is going to be this way thru most of the summer? Or do you see some team breaking away? I see it staying like this for most of the season until one team decides to get hot down the stretch. As they say, playing .500 ball until the ASG is the first goal, get hot after that and it'll be the difference in the division. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 26, 2009 -> 02:22 PM) The game's not over. For people having to follow the game via this game thread, there's nothing worse than posts that say "ballgame" when nothing has happened yet, etc. -

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Apr 26, 2009 -> 12:20 PM) Has anyone ever seen AJ throw out a runner by that large of a margin? AJ defiantly has a weak arm, but a lot of the steals against the Sox are against our pitchers -- we have notoriously bad pitchers (aside from Buehrle/Danks) when it comes to keeping runners in check. And Contreras is one of the worst in the game when it comes to getting rid of the ball. -
QUOTE (BobDylan @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 05:14 PM) I apologize for treating you like a fanboy and misunderstanding points of your argument. It's become somewhat a force of habit to treat Mac users this way as more and more fanboys crop up each day without knowing s*** about any computer they've ever owned. Apples are great computers, it is impossible to deny this. But some talk like they aren't flawed, they're perfect and the price is justified--all of which I strongly disagree with. You have a pretty nice computer line-up and I'm a lover of Lenovo. Are you running SLI in that XPS? I know what you mean, I don't like dealing with any sort of fanboi, no matter what camp they're in. No, the XPS is pre-laptop SLI, it's my oldest machine, but it still works. I run XP on the XPS, Vista Business on the Inspiron, and XP on both Lenovo's. I'm not a big fan of Vista. I run a 2 way firewall on all of my Windows machines so I have no need for UAC, besides that, I think it's implementation is just braindead.

I still wear my Podsednik (#22) jersey, as a matter of fact, I'm wearing it now at the office...sans World Series patch because I bought it before they won the World Series and never got around to adding the patch to it. People always ask me why I don't have the WS patch and I tell them, because I bought this jersey BEFORE anyone knew that team would be good.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 04:59 PM) See, what you've illustrated here is a key part of the problem...our system has built itself up around the car because there's been no other option. A true, solid mass transit system takes time to develop, you need to have a starting point around which development can occur at density levels that are high enough to make the transit worth while. People won't give up their jeeps because it's so inconvenient to get there, but then people never take the train and then there's no reason to fund it! If you want a working rail system, you need a large scale investment to get it started, and then you need time. While I would really like to agree with you, people won't give up their Jeeps because their Jeeps. If it were just a regular old car or truck or something else, I'd rather walk to work...but, it's a JEEP! In all seriousness, our system is laid out in a very stupid way, it's largely inconvenient, and not really any safer considering all the crime/muggings that occur on our train systems, Metra aside, as some of us don't have such an option.
