  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 27, 2008 -> 08:36 PM) Just wait till that area develops year after year and I think you will see some nice places pop up closer by. Believe me, over the years, I've witnessed Bridgeport change, and to this day I am still witnessing the changes. The problem with this logic is, by the time that area develops in that manner, I will no longer care, especially considering I'm going on 33 and will be getting married this September...so basically, that time of my life is past...and for that matter, good riddance to that time...my 30's have been far superior to my 20's...and I'm expecting my 40's to follow suit.
  2. QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jun 27, 2008 -> 06:01 PM) Puffers is a damn good bar. Jimbo's is a dump, but I'd sooner go there than a Cubs bar. Not me. At least Cubs bars are full of hotties.
  3. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jun 27, 2008 -> 05:36 PM) confusing someone for their father in a moment of excitement makes you an asshole? Wow, tough crowd. And yes, afterwards he said Nick, so he did correct himself. But he really didnt need to, that wasnt a negative remark I believe he did it twice...and I never heard him correct himself. And yes, if you call someone by someone elses name (even if they are related) and it's your job to be a broadcaster and to know who is who...then you should correct yourself. :> Edit : And I was being sarcastic calling him an asshole -- it was kind of a joke...that you missed. Mr. Sensitive.
  4. QUOTE (KyKyGruber @ Jun 27, 2008 -> 06:33 PM) Was Hawk drunk today? When swisher hit the grand slam he says now the lead is 9-0 and then he says Steve Swisher with the grandslam. I was waiting for swisher to do the worm after Dye made that sliding catch. I noticed that too...it actually annoyed me because I knew it was an accident and he didn't even catch it, nor correct himself. It's NICK Swisher, asshole.
  5. Obviously I'm in a non-biased not so silent minority here, but I'd rather have Barleycorns than Jimbos... Let's see...a washed up dump that servers crappy drinks in plastic cups (most of the time) and no/bad food... vs A bar with real beers on tap, served in real glasses, and decent bar food to boot... Uh...hmmm....yeah. Sorry, but that's no contest IMO. And I was born in and still live in Bridgeport, and don't care...I've always thought Jimbos sucked and still do. As it stands right now Mitchells 7 days a week and twice on Sunday before I'm forced to go to Jimbos even once. Oh and...
  6. QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 03:12 AM) Alright, but if I'm going to dish out $2,000 for a Macintosh, but use Windows, what's the point, exactly? I can buy a PC specifically designed to work through the stress and overclocking that gaming does to a computer for the same price... and probably get a machine more powerful, to boot. Plus, if a gamer is looking to buy a laptop, they are SOL with Mac. It's far too much of a hassle to game on a Mac. Gotta get a new graphcis card, gotta buy Windows for it (at the Apple price) -- and we don't even know what sort of compatability issues there are with it. Also, there is no Windows Vista Boot Camp out for Mac. Windows Vista works fine with Boot Camp, so I'm not sure what you even mean when you say that... Gaming on a MAC is harder, yes, but NOT because of hardware concerns, it's simply because most games are Windows only. Games like World of Warcraft run native on OSX and run great, games that do not have a native client for OSX, you can simply boot into Windows XP/Vista and play them, and yes, you CAN boot into Vista via Boot Camp. The point is simply choice, nothing more, nothing less. I do agree on the overpricing of Macs, however, but that doesn't concern me since I get everything at 25% off, which is probably cheaper than most people can buy regular PC's.
  7. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 10, 2008 -> 02:09 PM) It's a snap. I'm happy enough just using the Bootcamp beta, but you have to reboot the computter to switch operating systems. With something like Parallels, you don't even need a restart, you just switch between systems like switching between open apps. If the unit you are looking at is an iMac, you don't have any display card options and iMacs are very limited in upgradability. But it's equipped with a ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO with 256MB so it shoudl be able to keep up. You can get a GeForce 8800 512MB card in iMacs now.
  8. QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jun 10, 2008 -> 02:25 PM) If you want a computer for gaming, you'll just shoot your foot off buying a Mac. They don't make legitimate graphics cards for Mac's. I'm not saying a Mac isn't a great machine, but they don't do gaming nearly as well as a PC. Not even close. This is absolute nonsense and I say that because you can just boot XP/Vista if you so choose. For example, the latest iMac comes with a GeForce 8800 512mb card...and that's a pretty damn strong GFX card. The desktop powerhouse Macs are even stronger than that and user upgradable since they use standard PCIE slotting. The GeForce 8800 line isn't the very latest, but it's still a REALLY powerful card, and the Mac Pros will use ATI/NVidia cards in dual and even QUAD SLI (meaning 2 or 4 graphics cards working simutaniously). I think people forget Macs use Intel motherboards/components now...and if you don't feel like using OSX, you can boot directly to Windows XP/Vista (saying you own a copy) from Bootcamp, it's a snap, and it's *NOT* emulation, it's the actual OS. Macs run on ATI/Nvidia hardware now and use Intel Core2Duo or Xeon Quad Core chips...this isn't 1995 anymore.
  9. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 10, 2008 -> 09:31 AM) What? Faster? This second generation iphone just now comes to the level of what competitors have had on the market for over a year. That's why just about every article about the iphone 3g says things like "this is the phone we expected a year ago." I'll give Apple the fact that they make some slick pieces, and they think outside of the box sometimes and give the market something new. But they absolutely suck at keepin their customers happy. This is twice now they've told their most devoted fans, the ones who spent lots of money at launch, "hey screw you, we know we screwed up and gave you an inferior phone for a boat load of money, so to reward you we're going to slash the price in half and give you the phone you wanted. So have fun with that old p.o.s. you got that's now completely and utterly inferior in just about everyway. Hmm, maybe you can buy this one too?." And as for Apple in general, especially the Macs, I'm a fan of the look and feel. It's just that you can't run 80% of the software out there (especially games). You can dual boot Windows XP/Vista, so yes, you can run everything if you so choose. Also, Apple has the highest rated customer service in the industry, so keeping their customers happy isn't and issue for them. Speak to Dell about that one...talk about pissing off customers, just try getting tech support from one of those Indians.
  10. I used to think this way about Apple, too. As a person who's been using computers since the era of Commodore 64's, up through the Amiga 500/1200 years, and finally the IBM Clones (Win 95/ME/XP/NT4/2000/Vista), I can honestly say that MACs are NOT bad nor do they suck...at all. My first Apple product was the original iPhone, and as things stand, I wouldn't want to use another phone/interface...maybe when everyone else in what was a stagnant industry before Apple came around, even comes close to catching up to Apple's iPhone, maybe then I'll consider alternatives. And this is from a veteran of the Windows Mobile 4/5/6 devices/BB's. Not anymore. Now I'm buying an iMac and dualbooting Windows Vista and OSX...best of both worlds... Oh, and before you start screaming about how much of a premium I pay for the name...my friend works at the Cupertino Apple HQ and gets me everything for 25% off.
  11. This trade article is stupid. No, it's in a realm so beyond stupid it's not even smart enough to be called stupid. Nothing more needs to be said.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 6, 2008 -> 07:50 AM) Jose Contreras is dealing like the 2005 version. I don't know if he can keep it up, but you have to give him a lot of credit. He was given up for dead by most. Yea, IIRC, a lot of people were wishing we had sent him to the Angels for OC instead of Garland. Wondering how they feel about that now...
  13. No matter what, I don't foresee Loaiza being any worse than Wasserman, so even if Loaiza is bad, it's a wash as far as our final slot in the pen is concerned considering the alternative we had out there... Besides, maybe Coop can help him recapture the cutter Loaiza was throwing inside to people during that 21 game win season...which he stopped throwing inside the last few years. At least from the little I've seen of him, he no longer uses it like it did in 03.
  14. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Jun 6, 2008 -> 07:11 AM) rookie = Brian Anderson s***ty defensive veteran in CF (no fault to his own that he was out there) = Rob Mackowiak Makes perfect sense to me I got it.
  15. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jun 6, 2008 -> 04:48 AM) Who cares about this article. There is a blogger who says The Sox should trade Carlos Quentin and bring up Jerry Owens because they need speed. That "blogger" needs to lay down the crack pipe.
  16. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ May 29, 2008 -> 03:30 PM) I've actually been beaten up by a girl. Seriously, too. Long time ago at a party I asked some random girl I never met if she was alright, because she was crying, and she went crazy punching and kicking me while I was doing my best to block and defend her attack. Had a decent bruise above my left eye, too. Sure, I was ribbed for the ass-kicking I took; but people genuinely understood my position. It's not something I've had to live down. It actually was funny how girls I wouldn't ordinarily talk to were coming up to me and jokingly suggesting they were going to kick my ass. Only two circumstances I'd fight back -- if a life or my junk is at stake. See, I couldn't turn the other cheek on that. An unprovoked attack and you just took it because you didn't want to "hit a woman"? Sorry, but that's stupid in my book, she could have seriously injured you, and for what? Because you asked her if she was ok? I'd have blocked a few of those blows...but if they didn't stop, she would have gotten decked. Hell if I'm taking the chance of a serious cut/injury to save face and say "I don't hit women"...especially one so outwardly abusing the fact she KNEW you were gonna just take it from her.
  17. I think it depends on the situation. My initial reaction is to never hit a woman, but I'm sure there are circumstances in which it could be necessary. If she pushes me, though...hell yes I'd push her back.
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox15 @ May 28, 2008 -> 10:32 AM) Yeah great he got a quality start. It was his season low for strikeouts with 2, also first time all season he gave up multiple home runs. He also walked two guys. Not a great line, not terrible either. But keep in mind he was facing the Indians whose offense had been terrible. I wonder how a team with an offense that was clicking would have handled Vazquez. The fact he walked away with a quality start while not having his "stuff" is testament to how good he is, maybe? And the Indians offense may be struggling, but on a day when they do break out, they're as good as any offense in this league. Bah, nevermind.
  19. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ May 28, 2008 -> 10:23 AM) Do you have faith in the Sox scoring 3 or more runs? Yes.
  20. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ May 28, 2008 -> 10:21 AM) It sucks to know the game is already over in the 1st inning. Wouldn't go that far yet...
  21. Gavins going to be at 100 pitches before he even gets an out here...wtf.
  22. This is going from bad to worse faster than I expected. We can't even get an out anymore...
  23. QUOTE (ptatc @ May 27, 2008 -> 12:49 PM) one thing to consider is his chronic hip problem. This was discussed when he signed a long term deal. Watch for his hip rotation. Is it decreasing? Is he using more upper extremity and causing wrist and maybe other problems? Hip rotation is a key to hitting and his will decrease with his hip problem. it's just a matter of when it begins to decrease. I don't think it's that at all. I've personally observed this, as have many others, and I think this is a mental and/or vision problem. It's become a regular thing that he will swing at a pitch 18 inches off the plate in the dirt and the very next pitch watch sail over the dead center...that's not hip issues, it's vision or mental issues as far as I'm concerned.
  24. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 27, 2008 -> 11:10 AM) need these wins, cause this weekend could get ugly We can beat The Rays, but it goes without saying that we still needs the wins.
