  1. AJ will never give the title up to anyone else...if anything, it could mark the demise of the teams "chemistry" that Carl Everett talks about. If AJ was to lose that title belt, I could easily see him turning "heel" and hitting Sox players in the back of the knee with a black baseball bat, then taking the title back and telling them to enjoy their "vacation" from the game. Silly...yes...but entertaining, too. It adds something for the fans and the team to enjoy together...sort of like an inside laugh. That AJ. We should trade him now. He's a cancer.
  2. Rowand wouldn't make comments like these because he has actual REAL friendships with current White Sox players. A lot of baseball players talk about chemistry and friendships, and never really had any part of friendships with players on the team aside from them being "work friends". Everett never came off as "one of the guys" to me...he doesn't fit the mold...and I could never see him "hanging out" with Crede, etc...like Rowand did. Everett is simply bitter/jealous of being replaced by Thome. If Everett wasn't traded right now, and Rowand/Thomas/Harris were still gone, he'd be singing a different tune. I liked Everett, and how he played the game...and he's entitled to his opinion, which I think is wrong, but he's still entitled too it. That said, I believe this is more out of him takeing Big Hurts side than actually having resentment toward the team.
  3. Those types of suits never hold up (wrongful termination)...this is a completely different type of case. Those suits cannot hold up in IL because this state employs the "right/will work" clause, I forget what it's called on a lawful basis, but I know a company CAN terminate employment for ANY reason they choose in IL. A infringement on a persons privacy is a different story. In some cases it could be compared to installing a security camera in the womans bathroom simply because the company thinks it can. Doesn't work that way. Some rights to privacy, in a company or outside of a company, CANNOT be taken away. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 24, 2006 -> 04:25 PM) An ex employee just tried to sue us for wrongful termination because he was using the company server to conduct non-work business during non-business hours.. The case got tossed. The company ownes any and everything you do at your work station no matter what time of day it is.
  4. I think the Aaron Rowand trade for Jim Thome will work out for us in the end. Saved thread. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 24, 2006 -> 04:24 PM) Yep, this thread has gone from "Pale Hose Talk" material to "Sex, Lies, and Music" material.
  5. I assure you at the company I work for, although I have the same power as the person we speak of...I never do any such thing unless I have a specific REASON, by and from the company, to do so. I don't think he was being serious about reading e-mails, either, as that would be a 24/7 job in and of itself...however, merely stating it is an abuse of power, which is what I think the poster is getting at with a lawsuit. Just because you "can" doesn't mean you "should", without proper reason, the employee DOES have rights. One thing companies don't understand with most "contracts" is an employee CANNOT sign away their lawful rights, no matter what the document states. There ARE privacy issues at hand...
  6. It's just a harsh prank to play...considering you get one shot at tickets before you have to pay some f***tard of a broker 4x their face value. Sounds like you guys have a lot of disk space abound...keyloggers and sniffers tend to capture a f***ton of nonsensical data. Lot's of busywork to perform analysis on these in a grainular fashion outside of standard signature hits. At least you know your job...but still man, harsh prank. Maybe you're not a n00b...but, nah...you're a n00b. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Feb 24, 2006 -> 04:10 PM) The line about reading their email was half hearted and half real. I am the security engineer. I perform security investigations on a daily basis. These require the collection and review of email, and I also perform forensic investigations, we also use key loggers to watch traffic, and use network sensors to catpure their conversations. I have assisted law enforcement in this, as a former law enforcement employee. I have testified in court for civil and criminal matters. So I have a firm understanding of what is and what isnt ethical. I was playing a prank on cub fans. Give me a f***ing break.
  7. Yes, I do. Pwnt. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 24, 2006 -> 04:05 PM) n00b? Do you play World of Warcraft or something?
  8. I agree. I've been an MMS Engineer/Adminstrator for years...I started on the internet back in 1992 before "web browsers" really existed...we were using things like LYNX and Archie still... This is clearly an "IT" guy with more control than he is ready to handle. Like I said in my previous post. No offense to you as a fan or as a person, but as for what you're doing there at your job...you're a n00b. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Feb 24, 2006 -> 03:13 PM) I'm sure it was very amusing to those who couldn't use company time to purchase tickets but one individual could. Hypocrisy and and corruption always starts out small. The more you can get away with the more your attempts grow on a grander scale. Laugh if you want it just shows how morally bankrupt we've become. When we curse the generations to come look inwards because we are the ones who taught them.
  9. I'm an "IT" guy myself...actually I'm more than that, to just call myself an IT guy is weak. I run the lan/wan infrastructure and also the perimeter firewall/intrusion systems...so I have ultimate control, even over the remaining IT guys, since they control servers/systems and I still get to say what traffic goes where...I also get to say if the Proxy server has any actual control. That said...this is a weak display of "IT" power, or abuse of said power. Blocking a persons access to purchase tickets...tsk tsk...maybe it's only me but I find this no different than power ticket brokers using their influence to get tickets off the table before they are available to the public. It's a weak form of brokering, and I dispise brokers and those that use underhanded tactics like them. As for reading other employees e-mail, personal or business...I find this even worse. This is merely an admin abusing power he obviously isnt ready to have. Although some of the others seem to disagree with me here and may feel free to buy you free beer and high-five you for such antics, I do not share in their celebration of this. It's weak. No beers for you. n00b.
  10. I pods are for noobs that want to have the latest fad-device. My device can make phone calls, play video, mp3s, browse the interweb at dsl speed (wirelessly via Verizons network), play games, etc... An ipod can play music...and maybe video, and it's so small it's breakable. Apple. Meh.
  11. Nerf n00bs. I love my 60 Hunter. Beast specced too, for added PVP power. Atomic Hamsters Darkspear QUOTE(jenksd @ Feb 4, 2006 -> 03:06 PM) 60 Noob Elf Rogue, 26 NE Warrior, 35 Orc Rogue, 25 Undead Warlock (nerf hunters)
  12. As much as I may get the chills watching the World Series DVD (3 times now) or the Sox Pride DVD (6 times now), being there for Game 1 ALDS, Game 2 ALCS and Game 2 WS, feeling it live...and then watching them to go on and win it all at a friends White Sox clincher party is something those DVD's can never touch. Not only did the Sox win the world series...they waited until I was in the prime of my life to do so. The Bears winning in 1985 was great...but I was like 10...not quite the same experience as winning when you're 30. Especially since Baseball >>>>>>>>>> Football > Any other sport.
  13. I will be there all three days. Woot for me.
  14. If LHP Ray Liotta is as good as he was in Goodfellas, we may have a new ace.
  15. Well, don't forget he was hired to do color, not play by play...so it shouldn't be much of a problem for him. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 10:20 AM) Not a really exciting choice, but why not? Always seemed like a good guy, and if I remember correctly, was pretty personable with the media. How that translates to game-calling, I'm not sure. We'll see, I guess. Either way, good to have ya back Chris!
  16. Just saw it...I always liked Chris...glad to have him aboard.
  17. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 01:32 AM) My grammar is always right sometimes!
  18. I think he's one of the best traders in the game, after all, how many of the guys that he traded turned into anything?! MAYBE 1?! And as a result, did we not win a World SERIOUS?! Prospects are a dime a dozen. World Titles...are not. I'd trade our ENTIRE FARM away for another one, too.
  19. "Widely semi-known?!" QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 04:49 PM) It was never offficial but it was widely semi-known. Here's the thread. Ya, I know, nothign official, but we all pretty much knew 7 discs wouldnt hold 12 games. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=44533
  20. Oh god...it's not a professional paper! At least he wrote something.
  21. Wear your brand-new White Sox World Series jacket. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Dec 27, 2005 -> 09:56 AM) So now you get why I asked? What about the winterspring©? An extra half hour to bring the temp at the cell a few more degrees below freezing?
  22. Spring?! Do you live in Chicago? This is a 3 season town. Summer. Fall. Winnnnnnteerrrrrrrrrrrrrspring. Summer. It's not Spring, it's WinterSpring. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Dec 27, 2005 -> 09:42 AM) What about early spring nights?
