QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 06:22 PM) Grounder to short? 3rd
-
Wow...Everett came through when nobody else would! I take back everything I said Jurassic...you're back to ruling the earth, just like the Dinosaurs once did.
-
I think we also can look at Uribe's recent run of success. He added a little leg kick and took batting tips from a DIFFERENT HITTING COACH...then goes on a tear...then after working with Walker again for a few weeks, he's right back where he started. I don't know why you people cant see it. The Indians, WITH the offense they have, had this same problem, saw it...and fixed it. We sit back on it and say it's not his fault. Yea...it is.
-
I believe it IS Greg Walkers fault. He's a remnant of the home run hitting past of this team...and he doesn't fit anymore. Look at what Cleveland did with their first batting coach this year...(I forget his name), but NOTHING...they bombed all year. Fired him, hired a new guy...and BAM went on this run they're on. Sometimes...it IS the coaches...and its Walker to put this on. He has them ALL screwed up.
-
Wow. Greg Walker needs to go. Yesterday.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 09:07 AM) Yeah, makes perfect sense to me: trade away players that help your team win. We can have Willie Harris lead-off for us next year. Word is there's also plenty of teams looking for top of the rotation starters. Let's trade Buehrle and/or Garland while their values are high. Yes, then next year they will complain about the lead off spot never stealing bases and pitchers not being afraid of our leadoff man when he gets on.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:59 AM) And that's why a lot of us want to trade him when his value is high. Yea, I have to ask, trade him and then replace him with what? Basically to strengthen another part of our order, while weakening our leadoff spot is counter productive. Pods may not lead the league in OPB, but he works counts, takes pitches, and even when hurt and not running very much, scares opposing defenses. Unless you replace him with a Crawford, the answer is NO. The Cubs had what you're talking about...a power order with a leadoff man who couldn't get on...and a 2 hole hitter who had nobody to sacrafice over for that power middle...lots of good it did them. Let's not be stupid simply because of an injury...Podsednik is one of the reasons for this teams early success that has carried them up until now. He will heal 100% in the offseason and get his speed back...until then, live with it and stop making bone headed armchair general manager decisions. And yes...it's all Ozzies fault that no matter who he puts in the #3 spot sucks...and no matter who he pinch hits right now can't get it done...it's because he's a terrible manager. Right.

Just thought I'd add, whoever created this thread can SUCK IT.

I have to say, to blame Guillen is typical 'the sky if falling', I'm a fan who thinks he/she knows everything BS. Guillen makes situational choices all the time, he got that from Jack McKeon...it's a strategic method of management, it's not complicated, but if the pitchers produce, it SHOULD work just fine. Guillen put in the right pitchers for the right situations and THEY failed, the pitchers. Jenks failing against Boone is something I never saw happening, and neither did you, to claim you did makes you sound stupid. 90 wins, 2.5 game lead, playing .605 on the season, still probably going to the playoffs...and your crying. Hell, I'd take 90+ wins EVERY year even if it meant missing the playoffs. I got a team 5 miles north I think you should cheer for. Fans like you are more fitting for them.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 11:46 AM) Hard to play when you're on the DL. I don't see the Side Burns making much of a difference anytime soon. Aren't you a little smarty pants.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 11:19 AM) No matter who we have, Timo would be the first lefty off the bench in a big spot. Fair or not, that's the way it is. That IS fair. Timo has a way of coming up with huge hits at huge times in HUGE situations. Gload...does not. Not ever. EVER.
-
QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 11:02 AM) BTW who was our spark off the bench in 2000? We really need a guy like Gload to go to battle in the tough spots! Ross Gload is not a 'spark'. Not yesterday. Not today. Not ever. Ever. No..SHHHHHHH...shut it. Ever.
-
Someone else said it before I could...cry me a river. Gload is a career minor league player with below average defensive skills. It could just be by chance, but I've seen him make errors in almost every game I've seen him play. I don't care if you hit 990 in the minors, aside from getting hits and inflating his average in meaningless games, I've never seen reason to cry about him. He also seems to have no durability. Ross Gload the Toad. Pfft. I know I probably shouldn't be saying this around all you haters, but Konerko >>> Gload. :P
-
You obviously aren't understanding what I'm saying...Pods doesn't have to contribute with hits...just BEING there is his contribution...he's like a good luck charm. Joe-boo...Pods-boo. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 08:34 PM) Dye was also struggling when we weren't scoring. We were scoring plenty of runs tonight with Pods having no significant offensive contribution before his last double.
-
Dye was still on the team when Pods left and we weren't scoring. Pods returns and we are scoring...it's like hes a voodoo doll and the team needs him in the lineup to be good. Dye is BETTER when Pods is in the lineup, on base or not...he just makes everyone feel all warm and fuzzy. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 08:31 PM) I disagree. The most important hitter on the Sox is Jermaine Dye. When he's slumping, our offense sucks. When he's swinging the bat well, our offense looks much better.
-
Ok, now...is it just me, or is Podsednik officially the MVP and spark plug of this team? Pods returns, we score 5, 6, and what...5 runs, then Oz benches him yesterday and we are back to scoring a whopping 2 runs...put him back in today, and what do ya know...12 runs. Stop fu!@#$@ benching Pods...thank you. Rant over.
-
Obviously Oz doesn't think we need this game...or our Class A Kanappolis team wouldn't be playing. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 01:50 PM) We need this game, they have to come back.
-
Helps that we are playing our ... wow...this isn't even a B team...this is like a C team. We lost.
-
It's about time someone said it/noticed it, to quote you, "Did you not notice that as soon as he got hurt we went on a huge losing streak?" I sure as hell noticed it. Is Scott Podsednik as good as many say he is...no, but with the makeup of this team, yes...he is. With him, this team is good, without him, there is NO pressure put on opposing pitchers and defenses, and it seems when he's around, suddenly everyone else is a little less afraid to steal/run, stretch out a single into a double, etc. Whatever the case may be, mentally, physically, doesn't matter...this team is better with the "over-rated" Podsednik than without. And as for what people are saying about him being low ranked in runs scored...how is that his fault?! He as only 10 more runs scored than stolen bases, and has been stranded on base FAR more than he should be. So yes, let's blame Podsednik that nobody brings him in...maybe he should just start stealing home every time he gets to 3rd base, perhaps then he'd have more runs scored. -y2 QUOTE(Spiff @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:32 AM) Do you realize that corner outfielder is usually a power position? It's just because we already had Rowand that Pods is in left. When you compare him to freaking Ramirez, Matsui, etc obviously he's going to be lower in slugging percentage and homers; who gives a s***. You are comparing a prototype centerfielder to a bunch of left fielders. Did you not notice that as soon as he got hurt we went on a huge losing streak? Do you understand baseball at all?

QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 11:45 PM) Great job by Anderson today, just a beautiful game. Got the job done against a tough pitcher for his first 2 major league homers, got a double, and did a great job with the bunt. Anderson Iguchi Pitching staff. Why are you always stealing my thunda?! (Cue Sox opening theme) Da..da.da..da..daaaa.daaaaaaa.da, THUNDA!
