So I was pretty close then. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 08:04 AM) Noun 1. herniated disc - a painful rupture of the fibrocartilage of the disc between spinal vertebrae; occurs most often in the lumbar region When the soft part between bones in the spine presses on the nerves around the backbone, it's called a herniated disk. The word "herniate" (say: her-nee-ate) means to bulge or to stick out. Sometimes this is called a ruptured disk. Herniated disks are most common in the lumbar spine--the part of your backbone between the bottom of your ribs and your hips. Disks are soft "cushions" between the bones of the spine. The spine holds up your body. It also protects your spinal cord and nerves. The disks in the spine let you move your backbone.

Quite the imagination...but I like it...and I hope he's right.
-
It's when a CD/DVD has a hernia. Seriously though, I beleive it's when discs in your back are slightly jutting out, which put pressure on your spine, which can cause numbness in limbs, etc. Though I'm not a Doctor, so I may be a little off on that...but I believe that's right. QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 07:58 AM) What the hell is a herniated disc anyway.....
-
Bastard. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 07:55 AM) Jay Mariotti, your table is ready.....
-
Reinsdorf did...because they didn't cost a lot. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 07:48 AM) Wait a second though, who hired Ozzie and KW?
-
Ozzie played Ozuna at 3rd, I said play him at SS, which is his natural position. Uribe has shown he can play 3rd, while Ozuna has shown he cannot. I didn't say it was the best solution, but it IS a solution...Crede's defense is great...but we need him to pick up a bat that doesn't have holes as big as a baseball drilled into the barrell. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 07:47 AM) If this was the solution then why didn't Ozzie do this when we played Oakland. Ozuna lost a couple of games against Oakland all by himself with his poor defense. We need Crede at 3B unless we can get Mike Lowell, Edgardo Alfonso, or Joe Randa.
-
I definatly agree it was spent wisely...but that credit goes to KW and Ozzie...which I have given them. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 07:44 AM) Large payroll does not equate to championships at all. Its a combination of talent evaluation, timing, and payroll. The Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Orioles(multiple times), Seattle Mariners, and many other teams have tried to buy championships only to fall on their faces. Jerry may "only" be spending 75 million right now, but its 75 million spent wisely, wouldnt you agree?
-
Three words. Save our Sox. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 07:37 AM) Anyone remember where the Sox were heading to if DeBartolo bought the team?
-
Now THAT is funny...just imaginging a catcher spinning around to position himself under a ball he cannot really see... QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 07:40 AM) It has, and when I was catching. Nothing worse that a catcher spinning circles and the ball land on home plate.
-
Tell that to Kansas City. I'd rather have our payroll than KC's...and I'd rather have Boston's than ours. Does it guarantee a championship...no, but it usually ups the odds. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 07:34 AM) Large payroll doesn't exactly = championships.
-
Yes, but now Marte will be traded in a package for AJ Burnett. Hm...what will be like having AJ Burnett pitching to AJ Pierzynski... AJ from the stretch...GREAT BLOCK BY AJ ON A BALL IN THE DIRT!@#$@! Sounds like it could be fun.
-
Well that's true. Good point. But I still think this season clearly shows that Sox fans have become pessimestic over the years...and if they spend more money for a better "product", the fans WILL show up, half price night or not. The attendance this year has been steadily increasing as a result of the team... Spend money to make money. "If they build a good team...the fans will come." QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 07:19 AM) Its easy to say that we are a major market blah, blah, blah. We you compare us to Detroit, you leave out one easy fact, the Tigers aren't sharing a market with anyone. They have an entire city to themselves, not to mention basically the entire state of Michigan. Even if you wanted to assume that the Sox split Chicago (ha-ha) we would only be talking about less than what the Tigers have exclusive rights to. Keep in mind of all of the dual market cities, Chicago is the smallest. They also have the lowest ticket prices and the lowest attendance levels. It takes a halfprice night to get people to games here, while people pay $50 a ticket in New York for the samething... Gee I wonder why our payroll is lower? Hell the Cubs have a season sold out before they ever take the field, have way higher ticket prices, and still have a payroll barely at what you are talking about. You are being irrational to expect us to have a payroll like that with the ticket prices and attendance that the Sox have.

Welcome. By the way, if you ever disagree with me, you will die.

Jerry probably WAS behind the Black Sox scandal. Look, I'm not trying to be negative on the White Sox...this is one of the best teams in the game right now, and I'm not being negative on Ozzie or KW or the team...and I'm thankful for what the team has accomplished thus far...but I'm not ready to just hug and kiss good ol' Reinsdorf because we're having a good season. I'll do that when we are considered a real team like this EVERY year. I grew up in Bridgeport, so the Sox are all I know when it comes to truly loving a team, and I've been to more games over the years than many will ever attend since it takes me 5 minutes to walk to the park... But one good season and the thank you letters come out and suddenly your all drinking the kool aid. Well, good for you, I'm not saying you can't...I'm simply not going to pick up the glass and drink it yet. Sorry for having an opinion that differs from yours on a message board. QUOTE(HSC's Biggest Fan @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 07:12 AM) I have yet to go watch JR play a baseball game so he personally never has nor will he ever affect my decisions regarding the white sox. Blame Schueler for the white flag, he made the f'ing trade. If you think JR can spearhead a full scale lock-out (94) your an idiot. This point has been beaten to death so far it is disgusting. The things he does for players, yes he pisses some off, and for the community as a whole is increadible. Blame him for the Balck Sox scandel while you are at it.
-
Bad assumption. I've been to a LOT of games this year, soxfest, and I've even sat in the scouts a few times. I own 5 Sox pro-jerseys amongst many other items. Nice try, though. And I'm not pissed off at this team. I love KW and Ozzie and this team...but I'm not just going to forgive and forget the years of futility because of one year. Like I said, put down the Koolaid...one year does not a good owner make. :P :P QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 07:05 AM) Man, you're so pissed off! It must be hard to sit through all the games you must go to. I assume you're complaining about payroll because you hold season tickets and have for a long time. Because, I mean, complaining about payroll and not buying a substantial amount of tickets would just be silly!
-
Yes. Put down the kool-aid. F him for 1994. F him for White FLAG in 1997. F him for adding ONLY 25M in payroll bringing us to a staggering 75M which is LOW for a big market team in a big city. It clearly shows fans will show up if we win. So spend 100M like every other major team. As I said before...the Tigers are headed to 100M+...if you really think we can compete with them with a 75M payroll in the years to come, you're about to see the Tiglets win a bunch of division titles. We need to spend...this isn't 1985 anymore... And no, I'm not congratulating him for spending more money because it's nowhere near enough for the market he's in. It's about 20M shy of what it should be. Just remember NOBODY thought this team would be this good. NOBODY. So, to reiterate what I said, this team was build/designed DESPITE Reinsdorf giving us only 75M dollars. Oh, and this team will EASILY eclipse 75M next season...more free agents, more payraises, etc...and if we aquire someone like Burnett we have to sign that guy, too...which is even MORE. That's why I said I reserve the right to take back these comments depending on the trades we make and the moves/payroll we add in the offseason. I always leave room to IMPROVE...but the improvements I've seen thus far from Jerry are lagging behind the rest of the league. Riddle me this, would you rather than Cuban owning this team, or Reinsdorf?! Enough said. Cuban would have this team at 120M already, and we'd be considered an elite team EVERY year, not just one single year like this one. :P QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 06:58 AM) You going to F him to for adding $25 million in payroll over the last two seasons dispite a minimal change in attendance? Or F him too for giving KW the pocketbook to add players this year? Or F him for getting the Bulls six world titles? Or F him for getting the Sox to the playoffs 3 times in 17 years, better than any owner since the 1900-1910's?
-
Crede can be replaced. As good as his defense is, we have capable stopgaps. The solution is this simple. Uribe to 3B, Ozuna at SS. Done and done. Ozuna cannot be any worse offensively than Crede, and Ozuna has speed. I'm nearly tired of Crede. As a matter of fact, call me negative, but Crede Schmede.
-
F him anyway. :headshake QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 06:46 AM) Jerry is not the sole owner. He has different partners in both ventures, and really cannot take profits from one and use it for the other. Nor should anyone expect it.
-
It's funny until it happens to you. Happened to me before in an adult baseball league. You stand there like a jackass looking up into the sky thinking, "Son of a...I know this is just a routine fly and I'm not gonna catch it." Meanwhile, everyone else, including any family in attendance, see it just fine. I know how Scottie felt. Don't make fun of him, or I'll have to destroy you. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 06:40 AM) Since he was there for the catch, it's always funny to see an outfielder standing there with arms outstretched and no clue where the ball is. He was off by 20 feet!
-
The Bulls (not talking about letting Jordan, Jackson, etc. walk away in the end), but the Bulls championship seasons make what he's done with the White Sox even WORSE. He couldn't have had more money to spend on the team due to the profits (enormous profits) carried in by the Bulls. As a team owner, if I have one team making tons of cash and winning championships, I take some of that money to make my other team just as successful...he didn't, instead of waved white flags or went on strike. F him again.
-
Joe Borchard *IS* ready, despite what some of you are saying...to remain in Charlotte.
-
I'm not thanking Jerry freakin' Reinsdorf until he does something more. We are the only major market team spending 75M, and that's sad. I've always hated his mentality that if WE fill the stadium HE would spend money. How about you put a great product on the field and we will fill the stadium, you bastard. We are a major market team locked down at a 75M tag...sorry, but KW and Ozzie built this team DESPITE Jerry's handcuffs. Even the Tigers are headed up toward 100M. Every other major market team spends 100M+, and because of a team designed by KW and Ozzie, you guys are thanking JERRY?! F him for 1994. And F him now. Of course, depending on the moves we make and what we do for next season (in this off season), I reserve the right to take all of that back.
-
Timo is so good that you can actually remove all the other outfielders, put him in center and he will play all three positions at once. Timo = Bugs Bunny. Oh, it's true.

Pods club rules. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 08:50 PM) Lemme get in on that Scott Pods club. Btw, looked like a nice performance tonight. Who is this Damaso Marty guy??
