  1. No, but it would still be nice to have a name more in line with the direction the team is moving. Tad is a weak sounding name by itself, as is Tadpole...so all we need to do is add something to it, something with a little kick. I vote for : Tadpole the Burninator, burninating the American baseball world. And his entrance song needs to be some sort of hardcore rock, like the theme song to Team America: World Police. Next up : Tadpole the Burninator...and as he approaches the plate, over the speaker system -- AMERRRRICAAAAA...F YEAHHHH! Ok, so maybe I took it a little far. -y2 QUOTE(daa84 @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 11:32 AM) good point but...the nickname has absolutely no effect on the type of ball the sox play.
  2. This is the same as Sosa always bringing up the Cubs still...both Sosa and Maggs need to talk about their new teams and forget about what they've left behind in Chicago. Oz called a spade a spade...and I'm glad he did. Enjoy the Tiglets, Magglio...aside from Percy, they've got a pitching staff full of 4.50+ ERA's throughout...good luck with that. -y2
  3. Nice. I've loved getting AJ, attitude and all...I think he will bring a fire to this team it's been lacking since somewhere in late 2000. -y2
  4. Somebody has obvious sarcasm issues, and there really is no need to talk down to someone because you think you know more and/or think you are better than that person. And yes, you are absolutly correct in your sarcastic arrogrant presumption, that was the ONLY Sox game I've ever been too in my life, and I was drunk while I was there because I'm really a Cubs fans in disguise. Calm down just a tad...I believe it's my right to have and voice my opinion weather you agree with it or not. And I understand poor performances from other players have no bearing on weather Bmac amounts to anything at the ML level...that wasn't my intended point, I'm merely saying lets hold off on the hoopla until he prooves he deserves it. Prospects are a dime a dozen, more often than not they turn out to be just that, prospects. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 07:04 PM) The point is just because Jon Rauch is not who YOU THOUGHT he would be, has no bearing on wether or not Brandon McCarthy is a sucessful Major Leaguer. And his timeline shouldn't be effected positively or negatively just because Jon Rauch didn't impress you in your one drunken outing to the park. McCarthy is entering his 4th season in the Minors. Again, He has ZERO bearing on McCarthy's future. At least you closed with a origanal joke.
  5. Actually, the relation is quite simple. BMAC has prooven nothing at the major league level yet he's already dubbed the messiah of upcoming Sox pitching prospects. Look no further than the Cubs, who KNOW how to build pitching...their "prospects" usually spent 3-5 years (usually 5, unless your name is Mark Prior) in the minors before they even allow them to throw pen sessions in the majors. Joe Crede was invincible in the minors...I think my point was made. I'm all for BMAC becoming something, but I'm not holding my breath, he will probably get traded away for Roberto Alomar or someone else before we ever see him in the majors. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 06:40 PM) I see no correlation between Rauch's injury, subsequent surgery/loss of velocity/stuff/top prospect status and Brandon McCarthy's timeline.
  6. The only reason I'm even saying this is because last time we had this much hoopla over a pitcher, his name was ... Jon Rauch. Here I thought the second coming of Roger Clemens was emerging from our system, and when he arrived - at a game I attended - he got rocked for about 11 runs in the first inning? I'm not sure the exact run total, as I was probably too drunk by the end of the inning to remember...mostly because I did not want to remember...but whatever it was, it was BAD. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) More like 14 or 15 :rolly
  7. What is all the BMAC hoopla as of late? Is this guy not like 4 to 5 years of seasoning off of being ML ready? :banghead QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 06:02 PM) Brandon McCarthy segment on Comcast at 6:30.
  8. Hewwo, Cheat...have you seen Stwongba'? My sense of humor never ceases to amaze me. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 04:25 PM) 1) Dowload Lahman Database. -- http://www.baseball1.com/statistics/ 2) learn Acess/excel if you can't figure out access. 3) everything you ever wanted to know about Baseball is right at your fingertips.
  9. I just bought this game earlier today for XBOX and it seems pretty good, though Iggy is missing from the Sox roster, they promised a roster update at the very latest Feb 26th, so he will be aquired then. Home runs are still a tad easy in the games default settings, so I'll have to start tweaking it as I go now. After I learn the game a little better I'll play on XBOX live. -y2
  10. Squeeky wheels get the oil. I just think we need to relax a bit, whiny baby or not, we need an insurance policy for 2B, as I've stated numerous times, I know KW tried to improve the team, but Iggy is a huge ? as we have as he's never played in the Majors yet. Let Iggy proove himself, THEN trade Baby Harris for something...until then, I'll take a wait and see approach...we may end up being happy we have his whiny ass around. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 11:12 AM) Actually I was just calling him a baby because you called Scott a baby. What's good for the goose... But to make a point.. Harris IS a whiney baby. He does it all over the place. Shut up and produce. Can't knock him if he keeps his trap shut.
  11. I might be a whiny baby too if "fans" treated me like yesterdays garbage when a new shiny product arrives, still in it's shrinkwrap, even though it's never yet been plugged in for real world testing. If you get what I mean. We are assuming Iggy's going to be better than Harris...and I hope he is...but until he's played a game in the Majors and prooves he's better than Harris, let's not toss Willie out the side window for nothing in return. Because THAT is just stupid. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 10:42 AM) Harris is a whiney baby.
  12. We shall see how much Silver/Black blood he has while contract negotiations continue. As for what you guys are doing to Willie Harris on here, lay off the guy...he's streaky as a hitter, yes...but also has speed and better than average defense. The one thing we ALL wished for was for someone to help teach Willie how to steal bases, and now we have TWO such people on the team, and since Iggy is signed all you're doing is dogging poor Willie before Iggy even prooves himself in the Majors. We may end up being glad we kept Willie around (if we keep him around), and if we trade him...it sure as hell better be for more than a "bag of balls". The guy can play CF and 2B, as well as run and bats left handed...not to mention, he hardly costs anything. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 10:16 AM) I couldn't agree more. The guy bleeds silver and black.
  13. After the season begins I'll definatly return and post something about setting this up, probably in late May/early June sometime as I'm not a huge fan of cold weather baseball. That way we can hope for some warmer weather and not freeze whilst' trying to enjoy drinking "cold beer heres" all night long. I'll post a few dates in May and the one most people can make, we will probably try to go to!
  14. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 10:32 PM) Damn all I've come up with I cannot post here. WH: Have you met Kenny? He's a big fan of Anthrax. Make sure you tell him that Anthrax is really intelligent and knows a lot about running a baseball team . . ."
  15. Carlos schmarlos...that game was all about Kong and Hurt...they saved the day. =D QUOTE(Spod=Ratings @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) why were there cubs fans at a sox/twins game?
  16. That looks like Raphail (or however you spell it), his mask looks red, not orange. QUOTE(BuehrleTheAce @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 10:18 PM) Boy, I'm gettin' lots of love tonight And I concur, Leo was da shizznit of the Toitles!
  17. In that case, steel chair to the head behind the referees back! QUOTE(Spod=Ratings @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 10:24 PM) maybe i am your evil twin clone
  18. Yes, that is the game. QUOTE(Spod=Ratings @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) YA..hey in you fav sox momet when the sox beat the twins was that the game where paulie tied it up and frank hit the winning homer??? Cause i was there and its the best game i have ever been to
  19. And by the way, I understand people have their differences...but this message board/community is here for the fact we all have something in common here, we love the White Sox. We may disagree or even agree to disagree on certain things...but to bring it to violence is merely immature and childish. If that's what you do, meet people online, get into online arguments with them, bicker back and fourth and then ask to meet them in order to fight...you need to see professional help. To the rest of you who are here for the same reason as me, to meet interesting people and have interesting baseball conversations/throw a few jokes around...if I ever meet ya at a game, I'll buy ya a beer, and if you're not old enough for beer...too bad!
  20. Spod=Ratings seems like an evil twin clone of myself. Sox AND Packer fan? I thought I was the only one. Also, Guns&Roses and given the name=ratings thing...I assume you like wrestling or something. QUOTE(Spod=Ratings @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 09:49 PM) Shingo,August, and Crede
  21. The real "key" to this, and any season is everyone coming together and playing as a team...coming through in the clutch, and stepping up when necessary. Not one or two guys. Or perhaps I'm just insane like that. -y2
  22. Y2HH

    Paul Konerko

Konerko, however, is VERY good in the clutch...RISP, RISP with outs, etc...Kong is brilliant in those situations. Every time I see Frank in those situations, he fails me. -y2 QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 09:39 PM) I want to see Paul Konerko hit a wee bit better than .240 before I start handing him a contract worth over eight million per season. US Cellular Field tends to inflate numbers, and that's saying it lightly. If he's a guy who's going to barely give us a .700 OPS on the road, then I say you let him walk, and spend that money elsewhere in the offseason. Hell, I know a lot of people would be against this, but I don't doubt that Ross Gload can give us pretty good production (at least vs. righties) -- for league minimum, allowing you to load up elsewhere. And, Thomas >>>>> Konerko. Hands down, no questions asked, I'd take Thomas every day over Konerko.

Who cares about Paulie, we should be worried about signing Timo to a 5 year 55M deal.
  24. No, it's merely pointing to one of the many reasons why our team was what it was. Schoeney doesn't have a clue...he's a jackass, and he always was, even on the Angles. Why in the WORLD would a 1 year guy be player rep? Not to mention he was essentially kicked OFF the Angles because he wouldn't do the job they asked of him...because he wanted to start, because he wanted things his way. WAHHHHH! He was a b****. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) Schoeney being the player rep in and of itself shows why we didn't win last year when we needed to. You seriously believe that?
  25. Seriously, that movie scene is harsh. QUOTE(qwerty @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) ?
