  1. QUOTE (kev211 @ Sep 10, 2013 -> 10:54 PM) All I know is I bought apple care for my 5 when I bought it last year and if it breaks in the next year and they give me one of those piece of s*** plastic 5c phones as a replacement I'm going to be furious. Since they discontinued the 5 I imagine this is what will happen. No, repairs/fixes for iPhone 5's and full exchanges are not done with off the shelf models, but refurbished models or "repair/replace" models...so they'll replace your 5 with another 5.
  2. QUOTE (danman31 @ Sep 11, 2013 -> 12:56 AM) This is so true, but I also kind of want one. I'll have to see it in person to see if it's the color I want. This is what the "gold" iPhone looks like...it's not a "bling" gold color, so much as it's champaign.
  3. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Sep 11, 2013 -> 02:30 AM) Can you seriously sell a 5 for more than $300? I have a 32 gig 5 and if I could get that much for it Id upgrade in a second. I always assumed you took a bigger loss when reselling a cell phone. You'll get $250+ for a good condition iPhone5, easily. Hell, you can trade in a 4S and get 200$ for it. It's why upgrade Apple devices is such a no brainer for me...I even do it with older iPads, you can sell them for 300-500$, and buy the newest model for 50-90$ additional.
  4. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 10, 2013 -> 02:31 PM) What's the point of the fingerprint scanner? Just a "cool" way for 2nd factor authentication? It unlocks your phone, enables you to scan your finger to pay for iTunes stuff (instead of typing in passwords), and other apps can use it for similar purposes, but supposedly, the data is encrypted phone side and cannot be uploaded/downloaded off the phone, for the paranoid. Being that I've been fingerprinted, the NSA already has mine.
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 10, 2013 -> 01:24 PM) Apple's new A7 chip is impressive. They beat out everyone else to make a 64 bit ARM chip. Until apps update to use the new registers of the 64bit architecture, it's mostly future proofing the OS. A lot of people erroneously think the only thing 64bit is for, is accessing > 4GB of memory, which is incorrect. You'll probably see a lot of this argument across the Internet right now from the fan boys/anti-fan boys. The 5s is mostly spec bumps across the device (which was expected), and the fingerprint scanner, which is somewhat cool (IF it's accurate). I've used some of these fingerprint scanners in the past and holy crap they sucked.
  6. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 9, 2013 -> 11:36 PM) So I just picked up a new 50'inch Panasonic Plasma (Panasonic VIERA TC-P50ST60 600hz). So far the TV looks great, but I am having some issues with the PS3. There just seems to be a real "fuzzy-ness" with the games I play, just not crisp and the color seems to vary from game to game as well. I've heard it can start to clear up after around 100 hours with the TV on, but want to see if I'm missing anything. Anyone have any experience with that? Check for firmware updates to your plasma. I bought a new Samsung 60" this year, and it had ghosting effects when I played games or watched sports, but a firmware update fixed it. That fuzzy ness you're seeing is ghosting, the images are moving too fast for the pixels to update. That can usually be corrected with firmware, or some sort of software update.

    2013 TV Thread

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 9, 2013 -> 10:46 AM) Just watched it. Anyway, accuracy in gun fights goes down a ton. As the standoff was progressing, you can see Hank and Gomez begin to position themselves behind the engine block, which is exactly where you'd want to be. In reality, they're safer there than the skinheads are on top of the trucks or in the door frames. The better question is how Walt didn't get shot inside the SUV. And they likely didn't show their badges because they know they're gonna be shot anyway, and reaching for it would make them even easier targets. They're definitely out of rounds, though. They are both probably killed in the opening of the next episode. It WAS odd to see Todd look so frazzled after shooting the kid so easily and accurately before. Easier to be frazzled when the target is returning fire, vs sitting on a dirt bike.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 8, 2013 -> 09:08 PM) Todd's uncle and his gang must have gone to the Harry Dunn school of sharpshooting. "Harry, you're alive! And you're a horrible shot!" Someone important is going to die in that scene.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 6, 2013 -> 03:48 PM) Not planning on getting a smart watch but I can see how they could potentially be useful. If they have a lot of fitness integrated apps I could see a market for that (i.e., heart rate monitors, etc.). And if you're already a watch wearer and work in a corporate environment it might be more useful to see new texts, emails, calendar notifications on your wrist rather then pulling your phone out of your pocket ever time it vibrates. I think a day will come when their usefulness is vastly greater than it is now, and when battery life makes them last a week+, versus one day like this Samsung watch. Two of my friends have Pebbles, they pretty much say it's not ready for prime time. Personally, for me, watches are jewelry. That's what I use my watch for.
  10. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 6, 2013 -> 03:23 PM) I think smartwatches are going to be a big thing, but Samsung f***ed up by making theirs only compatible with the Note 3, which nobody will buy Not to mention it's a watch with a single days battery life.
  11. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 6, 2013 -> 01:02 AM) What you mean finally, I got mine the week it came out, lol You don't count.

I have nothing to add to this entire conversation other than this...
  13. QUOTE (Reddy @ Sep 5, 2013 -> 02:51 PM) Stop doing that.
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 5, 2013 -> 05:41 PM) 2 weeks since I bought the HTC One and absolutely loving it. What a kickass device. Rooted it to get rid of all the Verizon bloat and running the stock ROM for now (Apex launcher). Finally, someone listened to reason and got the HTC One. It's the ONLY Android based phone that I believe the hardware is on par with Apple's quality. The damn thing just looks and FEELS awesome.
  15. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 5, 2013 -> 11:54 AM) Despite what Y2HH says, I still have plenty of my flower seed left over. Hopefully I can pollinate something too This is lies.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 4, 2013 -> 09:51 PM) They are the worst. I'm actually super excited to cancel on them since its been roughly 10 years ive been a customer. Their behavior of overcharging over and over is ridiculous. With any of these providers, including DirecTV, Dish, Cox, etc., every 2 years, when your "contract" expires, you HAVE to call them back and renegotiate another 2 year contract. So long as you aren't on a contract, they will play the "charge whatever we want" game.
  17. QUOTE (Reddy @ Sep 4, 2013 -> 09:29 PM) so... if he throws in the towel... can I use it instead? Negative, your mission remains finding the lost love that completes you.
  18. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 4, 2013 -> 07:23 PM) As long as you use a pre-approved modem they cant really do s*** (well as far as I know). They tried using that on me in college, I had done my research though and got their list of approved modems, went to Best Buy and got one onsale (didn't want to wait for Amazon to ship at the time). It was about $50. My current one (on RCN) is a pre-approved combo modem/router, nice not to need two devices that just waste space. That was about $90, or just about a years worth of fees and I didn't have to buy a router on top of that. Nope, they can't stop you from owning your own modem. One of those idiots probably lied to him.
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 4, 2013 -> 10:22 AM) I masturbate No, no, no, no, no, no, NOOOOOOO! That was a metaphor for your life, not actual crops drying out under the sun. You're the one drying up. You're the Chuck Knoblauch of love...unable to make an easy throw FTW. :/ Sadly, there is nothing I can do for you right now...the only advice I can give you is to give up. Throw in the unused towel.
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 4, 2013 -> 05:18 PM) Here is my bill: Digital Premier-126.95 HD/DVR service-8.00 Additional Outlet service 17.95 HD technology fee-9.95 Movie rental (coffee town)-7.99 Internet Modem Rental-7.00 High speed internet 51.95 Performance Internet svc-0 Taxes, fees-16.64 total-246.43 You needed to call and renegotiate terms, something they're ALL willing to do. Of course, moving service is another option...which I was going to do recently (even had DtV out here to check things out) the only reason I didn't go with DtV after researching it, is because I'm still relying on Comcast for Internet, and in such a case, the Internet becomes even more expensive. So DtV+Internet service was just way beyond that 149$ I ended up paying after calling them. My brother, who lives across the street from me, is on the exact opposite end of the boat...he's a DtV customer, and had to recently call and threaten to move to Comcast so they'd give him a similar deal, but even with the best deal they offer, because he relies on Comcast for Internet, whatever his Cable bill is, he has to add on about 60$ a month to get the same speed Internet service I'm getting as part of my TV package. Comcast only wins for me, BECAUSE of their Internet. If Google Fiber was available here, I'd probably not have Comcast.
  21. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 4, 2013 -> 05:42 PM) Why do you guys rent your modems, you can get the same ones if not better ones online and pay like a years worth of those rental fees for them. I usually don't, but with the package I have only being 149$ WITH the rentals, I'm not f***ing with it.
  22. QUOTE (Reddy @ Sep 4, 2013 -> 03:38 PM) careful, you're doing a damn good job of making me forget all about her with your loving words... And yet you just brought her up again.
  23. I still don't know how people are paying Comcast that much, not to mention the fact that they're actually paying it. I pay 149$ a month, after tax for the following: Premier Package, HBO, Stars, Max, etc (all the movie channels) 2 HD DVR's (one in basement one upstairs, and these are the new tiny xfinity ones) 1 additional TV w/no DVR 1 Modem (50mbit down, 10mbit up, actual speeds) Home Phone Service I looked into Dish + Internet from Comcast and simply couldn't beat this price.
  24. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 4, 2013 -> 08:19 AM) God you know me so well. I knew I should move out to Seattle so that I can shortly thereafter move out to San Francisco to reconnect with my ex of 3 years. That's why I've been in such a dry spell. You're perfect, thank you, I'll pack my things at once. No, that advice was not meant for you, just Reddy. The advice I give people is very targeted and very personal. For you, it doesn't matter what you do, as your "dry spell" is soon to become an all out drought, where the earth will bake beneath the sun and become infertile. Sadly, there is nothing you can do to fix this.
  25. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 07:38 PM) It's a marketing trade off that benefits both parties. And my statement stands. At the moment, it may be simply "mutual", but believe me, in the contracts, there is plenty of room for "adding on" other advertising features they haven't mentioned yet, which will be a net gain for Google, and IMO, a net loss for all users of Google products that will now get hammered with Kit Kat ads. This is a trial, and if it's the least bit successful, you can bet your ass the next "nexus" phone you want to buy looks like a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup package.
