Wouldn't it suck if the clinching game for getting into the playoffs ocurred on the second to last game? The game where there is NO TV FOR... -
Are you in or are you out?
Ballpark Frank - Big Hurt replied to Kid Gleason's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm sick of reading these "In or Out" questions. Every year, they always come back to annoy me. We are fans with common passion. Some are very frustrated and lose their control on these boards. They aren't turning on the team, they just need some medicine. -
Is Comcast SN acting funny for anyone else?

Wow the game was not on the whole time... until it came back on to see the indians pick up their last out to win. What a piece or crap it is almost as if they timed it that way, even though they didn't. Or did they!? The plot thickens... -

Offense is showing some signs of life.
Ballpark Frank - Big Hurt replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yes that is a good observation... at the start of the season we would only score 2 or 3 runs a game, and yet still win them thanks to excellent pitching and clutch hitting, now we are scoring 4 or 5 runs or more it seems, with not as great of pitching but still pretty decent. Hopefully the pitching stays level while the hitting continues to rise, as it is likely with warmer weather. -
Lately whenever Viz comes into a game I get that sick feeling I always got last year when Jackson would come in...

Who cares we are winning now, if we weren't I'd be pissed, but we are so I'm thrilled -
QUOTE(qwerty @ May 5, 2005 -> 11:03 PM) There has probally been one thread that was baseball tonight related every day of the year ( every game of the season). It was always people that we were not getting enough attention. When they did mention us and didn't say we are the best team of all time people still b**** and complain, i just do not get it. Realistically it is pretty hard to fit high lights from every gane in while doing two or three other segments in between. What white sox fan watches the show to learn something new about the white sox? I surely don't. I watch it to see the highlights. It's true that 80% of the time the so called "experts" have little to no idea what they are talking about, but now at least they are talking about the sox, that is the WHITE sox. Leading off sportscenters, BBTNs, being talked about on sports talkshows, its been awhile since our sox have been in a spotlight this bright, and I like it just as evidence that people finally believe we are good. It also helps with the team's popularity and that helps the franchise in more ways than one...

QUOTE(qwerty @ May 5, 2005 -> 10:47 PM) We really do need a seprate forum for baseball tonight and attendance threads.:headshake We are doing an exceptional job so far this season, and because of it the nation is starting to take notice. Is there anything wrong with enjoying this well-overdue national attention? Embrace the moment..!!

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 6, 2005 -> 02:12 AM) I'll just post what I said in the other thread into here: Sox get some serious DAP on BBTN. Kruk mentions the bullpen(OMG, he's wrong, our bullpen sucks, he doesn't know jack about our team) as a great strength and Reynolds mentioned our pitching staff. Gammons said the hitting scares him a bit and even though he loves Jeremy Reed, he loved that trade for Freddy G. They also all agreed that KW will make a major trade for anything he needs before anyone else does. I'm pretty happy with how our bullpen has done. Aside from maybe three or so games the bullpen has been excellent.

Garland! I'm a sox fan, and I'm biased, what can i say... -
I dunno, I am happy enough with 13-4 and if it continues, I have no problem with players' bad streaks. Give him time and don't worry about it until it comes crunch time...

It sure is good to begin a new month..... I don't think anyone expected July to be such a bad month for the Sox but now that is over and we have to gain back our ground. -
Pitching Statistics for Contreras
Ballpark Frank - Big Hurt replied to Yoda's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I dunno about you but i think this is a great trade. Contreras is an excellent pick-up because he will be one of the few "power pitchers" on the team. Although it is not a great thing to see Loaiza leave we only would've had him for another two or three months since he is a free agent at the end of the season. Overall i am very optimistic about Contreras for not only this season, but the next season as well. Kenny is successfully finding ways to improve the team for this season but also keep it in tact for the next. -
Yea Cotts looked great out there today, in fact, our pitching today overall did a very good job. It seems this past week we can't put a complete game together. We either have good pitching in a game or put up enough runs but have poor pitching. The pieces are there now they just have to be put together to succeed.

It seems that everytime a Sox runner gets thrown out for an attempted steal or stolen base, the next batter hits an extra-base hit. Pretty unfortunate but probably just bad luck....
