Josh Rupe struck me out numerous times in high school LOL. Anyway, I wish him good luck, he's a great guy and a very smart pitcher, even if he will always be a Greenbrier Christian Gator in my eye.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 09:36 PM) Now you have someone run? That makes no sense at all. Yes, why now? Now, it's gonna take two hits or a homer anyway, and now, it's more likely we're going into extras
-
damn it paulie, one line drive from someone tonight, just one

AJ was lucky DeRosa decided to half-ass it to first. Anyway, let's get another solo home run and Jenks closes it out. It won't really make things any better but that's about the only way we can win a game right now.

stats for Brendon through 7/16 - 13 games, 40 ABs, .250 BA, 4 R, 2 RBI, 2 BB, 14 Ks, 1-for-1 SB Dating back to 7/7, Brendon has gotten a steady amount of playing time, sometimes as Bristol's leadoff hitter, sometimes as the 8th or 9th place hitter. 7/7 - (leadoff, RF) - 2/3, 2 BB, 1 R 7/8 - (8th, RF) - 0/3 7/10 - (leadoff, CF) - 0/4 7/12 - (9th, LF) - 3/4, 2 R, stole third 7/14 - (9th, LF) 1/1, 1 RBI and HBP, apparently in the head - He was hit by a pitch in the 5th inning, ran the bases and finished the inning stranded on third, but was then substitued because, according to the milb.com game log, "O'Donnell left the game due to an injured head." but 7/15 - (9th, LF) - 0/3, so hopefully he's OK

Stats for Matthew through 7/16 Still leading Bristol in BA @ .359 and co-lead w/ 11 RBI Other stats (in 18 games and 64 ABs) - 7 R, 4 2Bs, 1 HR, 4 BBs, 9 Ks, 1 SB, .877 OPS One other interesting note, according to MILB.com's box score, Inouye played 2B on Sunday. He played OF most of the last two years at UH and was a catcher before that. He was drafted mainly as a catcher and as far as I've seen had been nothing but a catcher so far for Bristol. No word/confirmation about this from the Bristol paper.

Stats through 7/16 for Brian 0-1, 4.91 ERA, 8 games, 7.1 IP, 7 BBs, 4 Ks, only 4 hits allowed...seems to be an extension of his college tendency, definitely has tough stuff to hit, but can he hit the strike zone enough? Outings for the week: 7/10 - (8-3 W vs. Greenville) - 1 IP (the 7th inning) and all 0's 7/14 - (6-3 W vs. Augusta) - 1 IP (8th), 1 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 K

Stats for Matthew Inouye through 7/9 More impressive offense from Inouye, usually in the fifth spot in the Bristol order... .364 BA (16-for-44 in 13 games), 3 2B, 1 HR, 10 RBI, 6 R, 3 BB, 7 K, 1 SB, .420 OBP Last few days, all good productive games: Sunday - 3-for-4 Sat. - PH RBI 2B Fri. - 2 RBI Thurs - 1-for-2 w/ 2 BB Saturday, in Bristol's 5-3 extra-inning loss, (quote from the Bristol paper) "In the bottom of the ninth, the Sox’ Stefan Gartrell doubled and eventually scored on a wild pitch. Moments later, pinch-hitter Matthew Inouye ripped a game-tying, two-out double to left, scoring Andrew Mead."

O'Donnell got starts the last two nights, one in LF, one in RF, batting 8th in the Bristol order. Tonight (Wednesday) he went 3-for-4 at the plate (3 singles) and scored a run. He had been 1-for-18 before Wednesday. Friday night, in Bristol's 6-2 win (finally a win!) O'Donnell was put in the leadoff spot (and RF) and went 2-for-3 w/ 2 BBs and a run. His average is up to .240 now.
