Ownership breakdown: ishbias 35%, Reinsdorfs 50%
GreatScott82 replied to bmags's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The most intruiging part about this whole Ishiba thing is the timeline. I'm assuming the Reinsdorf family ensured the Ishiba brothers that they will have first dibs to purchasing the Reinsdorf shares within a specific time frame. Why else would they purchase more shares and leave the Minnesota offer? My question is, what is that specific timeline? We could all speculate because of the age of Jerry, but could it be possible that Jerry is willing to sell his shares while still alive? -
Sox fans want change. Sox fans need change. We've been held hostage by Jerry's whimsical ownership decisions for far too long. I honestly can't wait for the day an owner like Ishiba takes over. The White Sox are a sleeping giant, IMO.

Andrew Vaughn is Officially a Bust
GreatScott82 replied to WookiesOnRitalin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
There is a very real chance that the White Sox will have gotten almost nothing back in return for the original core that Rick Hahn proudly assembled. What the heck happened to these players? Here is a list of the zero to little return packages from the old core. Moncada- declined club option (no return) Eloy- traded to the orioles for relieve Trey McGough đ Anderson- declined club option (no return) Madrigal- Traded for Kimbrel, who was traded for AJ Pollock who declined his player option to return to the White Sox. This led to the signing of Andrew Benintendi at 5 years $75 milion. đ Kopech- Traded w/ Fedde for Miguel Vargas, Perez and Albertus (Return value was pretty poor here and Vargas appears to be a bust like Vaughn) Cease- Traded for Drew Thorpe, Iriarte, Zavala and Wilson. (The Thorpe TJS really put a damper on this deal as Iriarte and Zavala have been midiocre at best.) Unless Thorpe rebounds strongly post surgery, the Sox might have lost a cy young canditate for very little. I really wish Getz got more back for Cease. I know the market was tough at the time, but he also could have opted to keep Cease until the trade deadlne. There is always a huge demand for starting pitching at the deadline. Crochet- By far Getz's best deal to date as they got back: Teal, Montgomery, Meidroth and Gonzalez. (2 top 100's and a potential every day 2B is a very nice return) As much as we crap on Getz- this was a rare quality deal. Vaughn- High risk of being an official bust. Robert- The final hope for netting a decent return and hopefully top 100 prospect. Between the demise of the old core and an inexperienced GM, the White Sox are likely 4-5 years away from being remotely relevant again. Unless a new owner takes over? That may speed things up a bit. -
Arlington Heights making stadium pitch to White Sox?

Yes. I live in the western burbs. A lot of Sox fans out here. -
Arlington Heights making stadium pitch to White Sox?
GreatScott82 replied to GreatScott82's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Iâm not so sure about that. The suburbs are much different than the Northside/Southside city dynamic. Itâs very blended between Sox and Cubs fans. If you build the next stadium in the Chicagoland area, Sox fans will show up from all over. Whatâs a better suburban alternative? Schaumburg? Naperville? When and if Ishibia takes over, Iâm sure he will want to build a Soxtown around his new stadium. Iâm not so sure he can do that if he shares an Arlington heights site with the Bears? -

Baseball is back! âşď¸ As bad as we know they will be in 2025, i'm excited for the eventual call ups and excited to see which young player step up this season.

How do you rank Chris Getz' GM tenure so far?
GreatScott82 replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It's too early to assess. His lack of trade experience was evident with the Fedde/Kopech trade debacle. I still think he should have gotten more from the Dylan Cease deal as well. I was very encouraged from the Crochet deal. I think he executed that deal very nicely. He was patient and recieved a heck of a package. I agree with Jimmy. He needs to win a potential Luis Robert deal. The organization was set back so far when they lost out on getting any sort of value back from the old original core players: Anderson, Moncada and Eloy. I do like the organizational infastructure changes. I hope Getz can utilize those changes and begin developing talent from within. He needs a really strong draft performance in 2025 and 2026. If i had to guess, he will likely have a top 5 to choose from in 2026. I know it goes beyond the first round, as he also needs to hit on 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounders as well. This is where I hope the scouting department changes can be demonstrated. I think it will be fair to evaluate Getz after the 2026 season. At that point, we should know how strong the farm system is getting and will have a true understanding of the direction of this ball club. It sucks we have to wait another 2-3 years, but this organization was set so far back by the previous regime- this needed to be done. (sigh!) -
Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
GreatScott82 replied to Fielder Jones's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Wow. This would be huge if true. I'm assuming at 40%, he would own more shares than Jerry, correct? -
Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
GreatScott82 replied to Fielder Jones's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Is there any chance Fridays meeting is more than just the sale of these minority shares? Would they announce any potential succession plan to the media? Or will all of that be hidden until Jerry passes? Once again, I find it odd that Ishbia would walk out of the negotiations of the Twins deal unless something was more iminent with this White Sox ownership situation..... -

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
GreatScott82 replied to Fielder Jones's topic in Pale Hose Talk
But why would Ishbia pull out of his Twins pursuit just to cover some more minority shareholders spots? Seems like Ishbia is doing this to eventually land the big fish of majority ownership.... -
The whole Nashville moving threat is silly. Chicago is a perfect city to have two teams. We just have a really archaic owner who refuses to accept the reality of the modern baseball world. This is why the White Sox have fallen far off the map of relevancy. Iâm happy heâs open to selling (apparently?! And finally!) However, it seems like he is only open to selling to âhis peopleâ That worries me! No more Reinsdorfian owners! Weâve suffered long enough. Not to sound morbid, but the likely best case scenario for the White Sox faithful is for Jerryâs children to inherit the Sox and for them to be in charge of the sale. My question is, are there any billionaires out there willing to take on the challenge of being the next White Sox owner? Outside of the sketchy Dave Stewart group, I have no clue who would be interested? đ¤

I really donât see a situation where they even crawl out of it in 2026. Have you seen the farm system? Montgomery had an awful 2024 campaign and outside of Quero, they have pretty much nothing to hang their hat on. Hagen Smith and Noah Schultz will be amazing. And Iâm hopeful that Thorpe and Cannon stick as starters 3 and 4. The pitching looks bright, especially with Bannister running the show. However, they have very little offensive talent down in the farm. Sadly, Getz still hasnât proven to make a legit trade that brings positional talent back from other organizations. Other front offices donât take Getz seriously. And until he makes a big boy trade worth taking about, this organization must rely on drafting and developing. An area that has crippled this franchise for decades. Iâm hopeful that the Ryan Fuller hire is a step in the right direction for the offense. I hope he can turn this archaic franchise in the right direction offensively. But it will likely take another 2-3 seasons before we see the fruit of this inevitable labor. So for me, the hope to crawl out of the basement will likely realistically take place in 2027 or 2028. They have a very long way to go.

Potential Crochet Trade discussion Thread
GreatScott82 replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Sadly, I don't think we will be thrilled with the players any team would be willing to give up. The league saw how Getz handled the Fedde/Kopech transaction and are probably anticipating that they can also fleece the White Sox for Crochet. -
I hope he can help turn chicken s%*# into chicken salad. This team has been depressing for far too long.

I'm curious how Stewart acquired a potential group that has over $2 billion to spend for an established franchise? Once again-- until more potential bidders come onto the scene, we could all assume that this is a ploy to get that tax payer $$ for the stadium in the southloop. It's pretty obnoxious to openly sell your team to a bidder actively trying to get a MLB franchise in another city. Talk about a big FU to the city that made him rich beyond comprehension. Disgusting!

All solid points. Identifying talent has always been a major issue with this team. Mostly because of the lack of investment the team puts into scouting. (Yet another Jerry issue) And when they do finally get a blue chip quality prospect/ player- they usually end up disappointing. My guess itâs because of their out dated approach with these players down in the minor leagues. I was also shocked when they drafted Hagen Smith when there were still multiple notable bats in the board. If I had to guess why they did this, itâs likely because of their endless shortcomings for developing position players/hitters. Their approach is likely to overload the system with pitching, and eventually trade some of the pitching capital for position players. Since many other organizations know how to develop hitters and the Sox canât, theyâll likely bank on this approach. If I had to guess, Garrett Crochet will be traded for 2 position players this winter to continue that process. We saw what Getz got in return for Cease and Fedde, letâs hope he doesnât get fleeced once again. Crochet is the best piece he will likely have to deal over the next 2-3 seasons. He canât afford to screw it up. We all know this organization needs a complete overhaul, not just the âhitting labâ like I suggested before. We likely wonât see that happen until Jerry leaves for good. So until that day happens, weâre all just stuck in the mud watching the whimsical decisions of an 89 year old bored narcissist billionaire.

Reinsdorf isnât selling. And now everyone in the baseball world knows that he has his hands in on every department of the organization. So how is one supposed to do their job correctly when their boss is always overlooking their shoulder and adding archaic influence? Not only is Jerry a major problem, but Getz is super under qualified for this mammoth task of fixing the most dysfunctional team in the MLB. The funny thing is, he was actually apart of the dysfunction and got promoted from within. To me, thatâs where the problem lies. As a homeowner, I wouldnât hire a contractor assistant to fix my house when he was apart of the company that messed up my wiring, plumbing and HVAC system. Seems pretty illogical. Regardless of his qualification status, we all know that even if he can do the job, his hands would be tied by his narcissistic, lazy-buffoon of a boss that seemingly canât get out of his own way. On a positive note, the hire of bannister and the pitching lab is top notch. I was pleasantly surprised with the young starting pitching this year. Now, can Getz somehow make a respectable hitting lab and hire the best, advanced hitting coaches and instructors to maximize potential at every level of this organization? Iâm doubtful. Can they revamp the analytical side and hire 30-40 new data engineers to try and give the coaches at every level of the organization an edge? Iâm doubtful. Until then, it doesnât matter who they hire as manager, or even who they sign for cheap in free agency. Itâll be the same old archaic Jerry reinsdorf-led white sox.

The Athletic: Must Read article on Jerry Reinsdorf/White Sox
GreatScott82 replied to thedoctor's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yeah. The only silver lining to this dogcrap season was the fact that national reporters and writers came in to truly see the truth behind Jerry's archaic operation. He's been concealing this for so long, which is likely the reason for his constant "in-house" hires or "loyalty" to his employees approach. Deep down he knew his methods would be deeply criticized if ever exposed. Welp... they are offically exposed! It's everything we anticipated with the ineptitude of this franchise year after year. Jerry must sell now!! BOYCOTT that loser! -
Sox looking at building in South Loop
GreatScott82 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
When I saw those numbers come out, I thought to myself, wasnât that Related Midwest on the 78 stadium proposal under $2 billion? So Jerry can invest $3.5 billion on improving the surrounding UC parking lots and not build his own gem on the 78 plot of land? Something isnât adding up. -
Man, that Pedro Grifol hire was horrible. They had guys like Bruce Bochy and Matt Quatraro available for the taking and they went with the KC bench coach. Moving forward, can they at least learn from this and bring in people from winning organizations instead? That tends to have a higher probability of yielding better results.
-
If the Sox donât fire Grifol after todayâs game in Oakland, then he is undoubtedly going to stick around for the rest of this awful season.
