QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 05:05 PM) That would be great, but your lineup is a bit off: Pierre or Roberts LF Young SS Dye Thome Pauly Iguchi Crede AJ Anderson I think the Sox will try as hard as they can to get Iguchi out of the No. 2 slot if they can. He's a run producer and even though he's done a fantastic job as a 2, he should be given the chance to drive in some runs. yea i was thinking Young would be a better fit for #2. But either or we would finally have a balanced lineup again. Last year just wasn't balanced enough.
-
Well since young is going into his final year of his deal and so is Garcia, it would make sense for both teams. Texas NEEDS pitching and we LOVE Young. Hmm could an Uribe/Garcia for Young type deal occur? I can see it. Can Young be a leadoff hitter? Okay now a light bulb just went on in my head. First off patch up the bullpen!!!! Then trade Garcia and Uribe for Young. Next, sign Pierre or Roberts to play LF. 2006 Starting Lineup Pierre or Roberts LF Iguchi 2B Dye RF Thome DH Pauly 1B Young SS Crede 3B AJ C Anderson CF Rotation: Buerhle Garland Contreras Vazquez McCarthy

thats kick ass!! ya see Pods, even though we were all over you in 2006, you will always be a legend on the south side! Kind of like un-sung hero Geoff Blum lol
-
Lets get Willie back on the bench. Then he can bring GROUP 4 back! haha good times.
-
thanx man soo!! he was funny! always talking to fans and enjoying his job. I think nobody smiled more when the Sox won it all than Man Soo! check out this picture..he looks like a proud papa!

Buerhle grew up a huge cardinal fan. I don't think its that much of a big deal he wore a Cardinal hat at the WS. Last season while Mackowiack was on the Pirates he came to WS game 2 at home with his dad and he wore his Sox stuff while cheering on his favorite childhood team. I think its fine for players to become fans in the offseason. Its not like its even a team from the same league. Mark loves the White Sox and the White Sox love him. However, 2007 will be his final season in a Sox uniform. Lets face it the Cards will get him for 2008 and beyond. Buerhle is one of the few players i would really be upset about if he gets traded or moves on to another team. Despite his bad season, he still is our ace and he will rebound in 2007 (his free agency season). Lets appreciate our final season with him.

Cora is a great baseball man and he is Ozzie's go to guy. THis is a great move. I think we all were pretty frusterated with a few of Cora's decisions to send Konerko and THome home last season haha. I'm not going to bash him for that because of what he did for this team in 2005. However, i think a change is neccessary. Hopefully Razor Shines does an awesome job at 3B if he is indeed the new 3b coach. That leaves 1B open. Hmm come back home 'Rockin' Robin Ventura!!

the 2005 white sox will go down as one of the best teams of all time and i am proud that i was a part of that, as we all were. Go wire-to-wire all season long in first place and only lose 1 game in the postseason?!? Yea that will shut up any Detroit of this year comparision to that team. Last years White Sox by far was waaaaayy better than this years Tiger team.
-
Wow its been 1 whole year already!! What a great day that was for all of our lives. A day we will never forget. It was day that we want to happen again very soon. For now we have our DVD's Happy 1 year anniversary White Sox nation. Now lets keep it at a 1 year anniversary this time and not an 88 year anniversary GO SOX!

First half: Thome A. Second Half D+. He just didnt come through when we needed him most. I hope he comes back and has a FULL season in '07. Starting pitching: C- Too inconsistent. Buerhle, Garcia really need to bounce back strong next year, they are suppose to be our 1-2 punch. I think Vazquez will have a good year in 07, im not worried about Contreras and Garland just keeps getting better. Hmm but which one will go? Probably Garcia unfortanatly Relief pitching: D+, only because of Thorton, Macdougle and Jenks. Everyone else gets an F-. Terrible, Terrible year! They just contributed to our starting pitching troubles, because Ozzie was forced into having them pitch longer than he wanted. My A's- Crede and Dye. Both had breakout years, can't argue that. My B's- Iguchi, Konerko, Gload, Ozuna My C's- Mackowiack, Cintron, AJ My D's- Anderson (although he showed signs of life, his 1st half was brutal), Alomar (why did we get him back again?), My F's- Podsednick. (hard to get back to the playoffs without a catalyst)

Say no to A-Rod. However, I can see KW making a move like this. If NY pays a large chunk of his remainig salary and we would only pay abour 10 mill/season KW would be all over this. Here are the reasons this may happen if NY would accept Garcia and Crede. A. It would FINALLY open up room for BMac B. Crede and Garcia would be on the last years of their contracts anyways. C. Both Crede and A-rod have Boras as thier agent so a deal would be easy to work with. D. New York is desperate for a pitcher who can give them 200+ innings and Garcia can provide them that. E. The New York fans and media are tired of A-Rod. Its time for a change. So out of all the teams interested in him. I can see the Sox getting most out of any team. I say we don't need him, but i wouldn't argue too much. After all he is one of the best hitters and players of all time, maybe a change in scenery would do wonders for him? Look what it did for Contreras and AJ.
-
If KW can bolster the bullpen and possibly add a guy like Crawford i would support a move like this. But the chances of this happening is not very high. Dye was one of the few consistencies in 2006. But your right none of us should be surprised with KW. But i trust whatever decision he makes.

many white sox connections to this world series. but i dont plan on watching much of it.

QUOTE(Felix @ Oct 12, 2006 -> 08:38 PM) 2005: 35-19 2006: 24-21 wow i can't believe we won 35 one run games in '05. Thats unheard of!
-
Its a White Sox town again. Thats what happens when you win a world series title for the first time in 88 years and you also win back to back 90 game seasons. We were the first to get on top. Can you guys imagine if we win another one before the Cubs get theres?!? Wow I think all Cubs fans would be on suicide watch... Next year will be year 99 how sad will it be if they reach 100 seasons without the title?!?

Ichiru is the Mariners organization. Even if they decide to rebuild they will keep him around. Kind of like how the Sox did in 97 and 98 they traded or didn't re-sign the veterans such as Belle, Ventura, Guillen, Baines etc..but the one guy they did keep through out the years was Frank Thomas. Ichiru draws fans to Seattle, he isn't going anywhere.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 05:42 AM) But the problem is, he really has nothing more to do or prove at triple A. And if we keep him on the major league team, having him on the bench will just stunt his growth further. So either he needs to be our starting CF to begin the season or we need to trade him. KW needs to evaluate every position and if he feels he can get someone who can play equal to similar defense and is better offensively he would HAVE to make that move. A year on the bench won't stunt his growth too much. Look how much playing time Mackowiack had? He played in over 100 games i'm pretty sure. Remember what they did with Willie Harris in 2005? They found a better player with Iguchi late in the offseason and placed Willie on the bench. Willie was a key piece to "GROUP 4" and Iguchi was awesome. I can see KW get a new LF and CF via trade or free agency. However, I wont be too surprised if he just aqcuires a guy like Pierre to replace Pods out in LF and stick with Anderson for another season.
-
Pierre is a safe move for LF. I would prefer Crawford, but if we aqcuire Pierre we wouldn't lose any players and hopefully have a 'real' leadoff hitter again like we had in 2005. As far as Anderson goes, he WILL be our CF next year.
-
I think KW is actually making a strong push for him. I can't believe he is the first GM to call about him. If New York would be willing to pay some of his ridiculous salary like Texas for him already. Crede and Garcia I might have to agree to that. A-Rod's defense might not be as good as Crede's but, A-Rod is probably one of the top 3 best hitters of all time. But does this team need another power hitter?!? Can Arod steal bases? Because what we need is more speed.

Leading off for the 2007 white sox will be....

Crisp didn't have a good year. But then again either did Pods in Milwaukee the year before we got him. It may be worth a good look at. I'm not sure about all this Juan Pierre talk either. -
If Cora goes to Florida, I would like to see Raines go to 3rd base. He definitley knows how to control the basepaths. He did well as a 1B coach last year.
-
THe Sox may look at Haegar. But I dont see Riske staying. He really cost us in key situations down the stretch this season. The way I see it, only Thorton, MacDougle and Jenks are locks. Everything else is up in the air. I wouldn't be surprised if KW gets 3 new arms for the pen. 2 for sure with a chance of Cotts/Haegar taking one of the 6 spots.
-
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 06:35 PM) The Sox are going to have 99 million locked into 12 players in 2007. That doesnt work, I dont care how many people showed up to the park this season. Garcia was very average this season and is making 8 digits next season. So your saying KW should have Sweeney start in LF next year? What should we do about LF and our leadoff hitter role?

Sox "Tired" excused from last yr's postseason

QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 05:05 PM) Hey, man, it takes a special breed of ballclub to go 11-1 through the playoffs. Can't fault those little piranha-shaped snack cakes for not being good enough to do that. I think our team would be mighty dangerous in the playoffs. You know damn right that the Yankees wanted us NOT to make it. The Twins and Tigers are demonstrating they really shouldn't be there. Can you guys believe that there are 5 out of 8 different teams in the post season this year. The Tigers, Twins and A's replace the White Sox, Angels and Red Sox. The Dodgers and Mets replace the Astros and Braves. -
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 06:24 PM) Mark or Freddy because it makes the most sense. McCarthy makes almost no sense. It makes no sense that KW would go into 2007 with no leadoff hitter. And the only really good leadoff hitter out there on the trade market is Crawford. To get a guy like him KW would HAVE to trade McCarthy. I see him locking up Buerhle to a 3 year extension. Garcia would be the odd man out if the Crawford thing doesn't happen.
