QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 12:55 AM) This team can't hit terrible pitchers. WTF. And it seems like they're taking an awful lot of called strikes. thats the way the Sox have always been. Its wierd science. this guy is dominating us. -

QUOTE(Allsox @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 12:50 AM) Brian just smoked that ball. Absolutely no reason Ozzie should sit him down EVER! ^^^^^ What he said -
CY Young- 1.Jon Garland (been carrying the staff since June), 2.Bobby Jenks (most consistent reliever in the pen), 3.Jose Contreras (awesome first half) MVP- 1. Jermane Dye 2. Thome, Crede and Konerko for tie. (Thome has more homers, but Paulies come during more crucial situations. Crede is having a career year and he still has that clutch magic.)

Things are looking in the right direction! Just need to play some good fundamental baseball starting tonite! Wow how big would it be if were just 3.5 games back of the division?!? That would be a big confidence booster for the team. -

Welcome back Big Jimmy! Your gonna rock in that 5th hole where you belong! C'mon Jon G! Your our Ace, keep the consistency going big guy! Theres a chance we can only be 3.5 games behind Detroit after tonite. Right now Detroit is trailing New York 2-0 in the 6th in game 1! The Central isn't close to being over White Sox nation. It isn't over by a LONG SHOT! -
That was the toughest stretch of the season. 13-11 is not horrible, I wish it could have been better, but just to think we didn't lose any ground in the wild card hunt and we gained 2.5 games in the central provides some hope as we head down the final stretch of the season. These games vs Tampa and KC are going to be pivital! They must take care of business vs these teams! Anything less than 5-1 would be unnacceptable.

Hmm lets see. Before last season the White Sox haven't won a playoff series since 1917. They haven't won a World Series since 1917. I'm not too worried about the records of the past anymore. We broke the biggest of them all by going all the way last season. I understand that a Chicago team hasn't gone to the playoffs in consecutive years in like 100 years and all, but I just dont care. This year will be different. We will make the playoffs and this will be a first for Chicago and it will be another record broken.

if we cant score off silva then we dont deseve to go to the playoffs. Buerhle will give up his 4-5 runs today. Its just a matter of if the offense erupts or not. -

Its nice to see them actually stealing. What ever happend to those days? are they coming back? Eh it doesnt matter, timely hitting doesnt exist for the 2006 White Sox. -

QUOTE(G&T @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 04:18 PM) Looking at the schedules for these 3 teams, this is make up time for the Sox. The Tigers and Twins each play the Yankees and each other through Sept. 10. Meanwhile, the Sox play the D-Rays, Royals, Red Sox, and Indians. The Sox can be their bad selves and still win a bunch of games. The problem is that after Sept. 10, the Sox have the hardest schedule of the 3 including facing the A's and Angels out west and facing both the Tigers and Twins. By Sept. 10, if the Sox play decent, they can capitalize off their schedule and take advantage of playing the teams ahead of them. But they need to get wins starting today. All this will be for naught if the Sox can't make up ground. Your damn right. The time is now to gain ground on both the Twins and Tigers. No more of this play to KC's level or play down to TB's level. They need that killer instinct back! Its been missing since like June. The next 7 games if the Sox go anything below 6-1, i'll be dissappointed.

With a win today things look a lot brighter! Because we would be just .5 games back of the WC and the next 6 games contain division dwellars Tampa and KC. If there is anytime to gain ground on both the Twins and Tigers, this is the time. After todays game vs Cleveland, Detroit plays their next 6 games vs New York and the streaky Angels. So yes there is no way in hell we are out of this race! It shall be interesting to see how Detroit responds to being just 4 games up right now. Will they buckle to the pressure? And the Twins... those pesky Twins. Its funny, they play their best vs us, but tend to struggle alittle vs the lower echelon teams like KC and TB. It should be interesting to see how they continue to play after they leave Chicago.

Okay i had a night to sleep on this horrible loss. I feel alittle better. You have to look at the possitives going right now. Detroit is slumping. So we are STILL just 5.5 games back of Detroit. So a win today and another Detroit loss just means we are just .5 games back of the WC AND just 4.5 games behind Detroit. My goal during this series was to get 4.5 games behind Detroit and its still possible. Detroit has the Yankees coming up as well, while we play Tampa and Minny plays KC. So yea we NEED to win the next 4 in a row if you ask me. Todays game is huge! If the last 2 games were big, this game is GINORMOUS!!! No ifs ands or buts, they NEED to win this game. Negatives: Our pitching. Starting pitching other than Garland, is the reason we have been losing. Contreras has lost his magic, Buerhle isn't the same, Vazquez is Mr. 6th inning disaster and Garcia tends to give up early leads. Everyone also praises our pen so often also. Well the last 2 nights they have lost the game for us. Thorton tends to give up alot of runs stranded by the starters and he also gave up a HUGE run last nite. Riske sometimes gives up that BIG homerun! McDougal.. okay i cant say anything bad about him. Cotts is the new Marte. And Jenks gives me a heart attack everytime out, but i cant say anything bad about him. Possitives: JD is awesome! Where would we be without this guy!? The offense seems to still have it. But how come they only seem to light it up when were trailing? They need to have that same hungry mentality when they are winning or tied as well. The fact of the matter is, there is only 33 games left, and we have the hardest schedule of the 3 teams. WE MUST go 21-12 the rest of the way. Yes 96 wins will give us a playoff birth. And since i believe Minny has won the central, Detroit must go 14-18. Hey it can happen! So come on Mark, wake your ass up! We need you today
-
thats 2 wins we let slip away! The Twins are playing smarter, better ball! They are the better team right now. What a shame, you have Detroit slumping at the same time we are losing. All i wanted was JD to be up there for one more AB. Damn you gooch. The season is starting to get away from us fast. The way i see it: Twins>White Sox>Tigers hopefully Boston continues to struggle and we can pass Detroit for the Wild card. Yes the Twins will win the division
-
There is a pretty slim chance the Sox will take the division away from Detroit. But if there is any chance to gain some ground it will be in the next week and a half. If the Sox some how take 2 of 3 vs Minny and Detroit loses at least once vs Cleveland and we gain a game we will be just 4.5 games back. The next series' the Tigers play 3 at New York while the Sox play 3 vs Tampa. I say we can gain 2 games there. So the lead will be just 2.5 games back. And the next series Detroit plays 3 vs the Angels, while the Sox play 3 at KC. I say we can gain at least 1, maybe 2 there. So we can be just .5 to 1.5 games back in a week and half if the White Sox do their job vs the division dwellers and Detroit struggles vs some good teams. The time is NOW to catch those Tigers. If we aren't 2.5 or less by the end of next week, then i'll be dissappointed.

Fox has bought many many games so far this season for saturday baseball. Im pretty possitive Fox will buy this game if it has playoff significance. And isn't the game at 11:10 because the Minnesota Gophers begin their football season that day or something like that?!? When the time comes, this can be very serious.
