QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 06:45 PM) If you trade for Hunter, that's all you trade for. We will be spent. I would much much rather take a lower level CF like Brady Clark and still be able to upgrade the pen a good deal. I disagree. Yea it would take alot to bring Hunter over. However, it shouldn't take alot to bring over a decent reliever. Even if KW adds Hunter, he can still afford to bring in a few relievers. QUOTE(wilmot825 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 08:06 PM) I would be super pissed if we got Hunter, he is a jag off...Not only does he run over our catcher for no reason, but also said we didnt deserve to host the All-Star game in '03. Im pretty sure Mienkeiwicz was the one who said that not Hunter. AND as far as that play at the plate went, Ozzie actually praised the play. He called it ' a clean legal hit '. We were all pissed when it happened, but if it was our player doing it to them, wouldn't you cheer the situation? I don't know about you guys, but I would welcome Torii to southside family with ease. He would fit this team perfect! Those of you still bitter at him for 2003 need to move on! We already have one of those fiesty former Twins (AJ) why not one more to add to this championship roster?

With KW, never say never. Look for Anderson to head back to charlotte very soon. This means we will be seeing alot of Ozuna and RMack out there. I'm almost possitive KW doesnt want these guys playing 'every day' as they are better served as bench players. This means give some other prospect a shot out there or go find a center fielder. Hunter would fit on this team perfectly. Yea he doesn't have the bat he once had in 2002, but that can easily be improved on this lineup. He has speed also, is a gold glover, and has that fire plug attitude that AJ has. AJ is a menace while Torii is street tough- traits Ozzie loves in players. The talk is right now that Minnesota's asking price is too high and we can't afford his contract. Well with the record attendance going on so far this season, i say we can afford him, not to mention we'll only be paying for a half a season. If they cant afford him next year, then just buyout his remaining contract for $2mill. Offer a mega-package of prospects, do what it takes. Our lineup would look alot better: Pods LF Gooch 2B Thome DH Konerko 1B Dye RF Peirzynski C Crede 3B Hunter CF Uribe SS Can you say SCARY!

1. The Cubs wont trade any of thier talent to the Sox. So no Pierre. 2. I love Hunter, but he isn't that much of an upgrade offensively over Anderson. PLUS it is within the division. It would take alot to get him over here. 3. I like Freel, but Cincy is in the race. Lets see how things are panning come late July. 4. If Gathright is in the minors what makes you think he can improve here? Like Uribe he goes in major slumps and major hot streaks inconsistently. 5. Soriano has surprised people out in LF this year. But changing him over to CF might be too much to ask. Unless we can move Pods to centerfield and keep Soriano out in LF? Hmmm I like that i dea. 6. Luis Gonzalaz- No 7. Pat Burrell- Eh 8. Ibanez- He's a gamer but has a bad attitude. I remember him saying that he wanted out in KC in 2003 when they were in the divisional race. What kind of players says that?

Last year I said 'hell no' to this griffey deal. We had a legitamate center fielder in Aaron Rowand. This year we have a minor leaguer out there who can play some defense, but doesnt have a clue behind the plate. I would actually consider this move. JR is older now, but he is still sub-average out there which maybe enough for KW to land him. However, as many of you Soxtalkers out there stated, the Reds are very much in the race early on this year. They won't be trading him anytime soon. We should talk more about this come the trade deadline. For now, lets focus on patching up the bullpen. It was refreshing to see BMac bounce back tonite, Jenks and Thorton have held there own, Cotts needs to be more consistent and Pollite is burned out. We need 2 solid righties for our pen. Whose out there?!?!?

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!!!!!&a

You know what I miss? Those 8 games winning streaks we did frequently last year. How about another one of those! Lets get going guys! Keep those Tiger's tamed! -
Rumor heard during Phillies-Dodgers game...
GreatScott82 replied to AWhiteSoxinNJ's topic in Pale Hose Talk
So he is locked down until 2008. Lets stop talking about Rowands comeback now. The Phillies wanted him, and they will not let go of him anytime soon. Its frusterating seeing Anderson's bat. But he still does play good defense, and our offense is not our problem. Its the damn middle relief! Struggles that we should'nt worry too much about: Uribe and Anderson's bat. Struggles that we SHOULD worry about: OUR BULLPEN! The bullpen alone has cost them at least 10 games this year already. -

Can someone tell me the status or ARow's contract? -
the bullpen just isn't cutting it. i know i even mentioned go trade for another center fielder. but right now our major concern is the pen. Its obvious that Pollite is burned out from last year, Cotts isn't lights out like last year. So lets see Hermy out, Pollite and Cotts not the same. KW also traded Marte and Vizciano. This is a complete turn from last years success. Yea we still have the young Jenks and BMac coming around and Thorton surprising everyone, but this bullpen is below medeocre. Were not making the playoffs w/ this bullpen KW needs to do what it takes to fine tune it. We need a righty setup man! I'm not as worried about Cotts BUT he needs to be more consistent. Pollite im afraid is damaged goods. KW needs to find a replacement and soon. Any suggestions? Is it too early to talk trades. We did hit June.

something needs to change in our lineup
GreatScott82 replied to GoRowand33's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The lineup is fine. They are just leaving waaayyy too many men left on base. They need to bring back more small ball. If there is a man on 1st and 2nd with no outs bunt them over. Im seeing to many free swings. They are getting hits. But they are just not getting timely hits! I want to see more bunting, and more run manufacturing. Take advantage of those baserunners. Having Thome and Pauly in the 3 and 4 hole is nice, but they cant rely on them to drive in the runs every game. We have to do it the smaller way also. Jose C. WILL get us back on track tommorow! Lets score some runs! Don't need 11, but at least 3 or 4. -
KW and OG have to be getting fed up with BA's hitting. I know for a fact that KW is looking for other CF options right now. I've heard Tori Hunter is available. If this is so go for him! The Twins GM told a reporter that he isn't afraid to trade within his division. If this is the case KW should be all over this. Bring Hunter over. He at least has one friend in AJ. I know he doesn't have a good history here on the southside. But either did AJ and we all know how that turned out.

if there was one guy i would love to keep right now its Vizcaino. So far the Thome deal looks pretty damn good. Were not missing Rowand too much. Marte just flat out lost his nasty command. I Don't miss him. However, Mackowiack hasn't shown me anything other than a few solid defensive stops. Vazquez is waayy better than El-duque. However the Vizcaino part of the deal kind of hurts. Our bullpen is just not as strong as last years. And Vizcaino has nasty stuff. I would much rather have Vizcaino over Boone Logan. He is just not ready for the big leagues.

1000 POSTS YESSSS!!!! I joined about 2 years ago today. Thats 500 posts/year! And i love every minute of it! Now lets beat the angels!!! -
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 11:48 PM) I know the Hall says what team you go into it with, but WHEN Jim hits his 500th HR with the Sox, and IF Jim wins a World Series with us, does he go into the Hall a White Sox? Hmm thats a very good question. Well he will most likely hit #500 here, and he would win his first every world series here. It would be a very close call. However, he would probably go as an Indian. Didn't Wade Boggs win a world series with the Yankees, but still went in as a Red Sox?

yep. if we can split out west i'd be more than satisfied. lets take the first one and go from there. lets disperse the offense for all 3 games this time. -
haha look at Jose C at the top! All i have to say is THANK YOU LOAZIA for that one flash in the pan season!!!
-
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 03:06 PM) No need to use him right now. Good pitching performances going deep into games lately. Yep Javy, Mark and Jose are hot! While Freddy and Jon G. are slowly getting there games back. You'll probably see Thorton either tonite in the 8th or friday when Freddy pitches.
-
I love Harold. But he seems too quite out there. Raines was energetic and aggresive.
-
that would be awesome we somehow won 8 in a row again!! I just hope were not in that west coast rut again?!?
-
KW and crew expect him back in July or August for the stretch fun. But we'll see. Back injuries are always pretty serious. But if we can get Hermy back at full force, our bullpen can be a true force again.

The Continuing Rise of Jose Contreras
GreatScott82 replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Jose C. is our best pitcher right now. I dont think there is a better 1-2 punch then Mark B. and Jose C. -
Early on in the 2006 season so far it has been the offense that has sparked this team's winning ways. The pitching started off cold, but now they are taking off as well. Last season it seemed like we won many 3-2, 4-3, 2-1 games. So far early on in the year it seems like we are scoring 5 to 6 runs per game. Thats very solid, and with this rotation and defense, it can go a long way. Here are the batting #'s for our starting lineup for the first 15 games: Scott Podsednick Avg: .204 (but is coming around) and 3 SBs. I was worried about his groin issue, but it looks like the Scotty Pods of last season is back. Tadahito Iguchi Avg: .314, he is still sacrificing himself to go along with 6 BBs and 6 RBIs. I'm glad Ozzie put him back in the 2 hole. Jim Thome Avg: .333 with an OBP of .538, 7 HRs, 18 BBs and 19 runs scored. And 14 RBIs. Wow what a beast! Paul Konerko Avg: .351 with an OBP of .415, 5 HRs, 16 RBIs, he also has 5 2Bs. Yeah Pauly is continuing on from last season success! Jermaine Dye Avg: .282, with 10 BB and 9 RBIs. These are the #s we expect from JD! A.J. Pierzynski Avg: .283, with 4 RBIs and 5 runs scored. As long as AJ can carry a decent stick we should be fine. His true value is behind the plate. Joe Crede Avg: .314, with 12 RBIs, and 5 2Bs. Crede has been a great surpise early on, showing that he not only capable of getting clutch hits, but he can also hit for average. Juan Uribe Avg: .200, 5 RBIs and 4 runs scored. Juan hasn't spurted out of the gates like some other players, but he'll come around. His HR on Wednesday was nice to see. As long as can move the runners over and continue flashing his leather at SS we'll be fine. Brian Anderson Avg: .132, and 17 SOs. YIKES! The rookie is off to a bad start. But sometimes it takes rookies to get going. Lets not forget how long it took for Rowand to get going, or the 0-43 Ventura start. As long as BA can flash the leather in CF for now, he'll be okay. He'll come around. He's our 9th place hitter, shouldn't worry too much about this. As you can see for the most part our offense is getting it done. With Pods coming around we should be even more dangerous, because now we'll have the speed to go along with the power. But we all can agree that our offensive MVP for the first 15 games has to be the new comer Jim Thome! Keep it going big guy!

Sox Should Make Signing Buehrle Top Priority
GreatScott82 replied to aboz56's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If Buerhle left the White Sox it would be the biggest loss in White Sox history. We can't be like the Cubs and let Maddux go at his prime. Buerhle is only getting better at 27 years old. 5 years at 12/13 per is should be doable. I think KW and JR know how important MB is to this team, organization and the city of chicago and its surrounding communities. Buerhle is open to start talking about his future now. So KW should get on that ASAP. Like i said before, there was reason to wait until the offseason for Konerko. There is no reason to wait for Buerhle. We all know his value. Get it done KW. Get it done soon. -
You know we have a damn good rotation when currently Buerhle is our 2ND best pitcher. Yep there is no stopping Contreras right now. And Vazquez looked pretty damn dominant today. Wow this rotation is damn good. Another bright spot is Bobby Jenks, he is looking better each time out there, he already has 6 saves. Thorton is starting to come around actually. Still not too sure about Logan? BMac is just down right awesome! However, Cotts and Pollite still worry me. Do you guys think there burned out from last season?
-
Beane traded Hudson and Mulder for prospects why wouldn't he just trade the 3rd head of the former 3 headed monster? I can see Beane trading Zito, esspecially to a desperate team like the Cubs or Yankees. The A's can still contend w/o Zito this year, and they will be better off next year when he will leave via free agency anyways.
-
If not 5-50 than easily 4-50. Buerhle just doesn't seem like the money hungry type. If its a reasonable price, he'll stay.
