  1. Oakland's south paw Barry Zito just may be traded by the A's very soon. According to ESPN, with Zito off to a poor start and with Oaklands stacked farm system. Beane just may trade him. Beane is likely looking for a top outfield propect, a top pitching prospect and an infield prospect in a pacakage. Many teams are interested in Zito. With exception of our Sox, Zito fits in to almost any team out there. Teams that just may go out of there way to aqcuire Zito are the Tigers, Indians and Cubs.
  2. Buerhle is our ace! And a fun loving team leader. He has been our most consistent pitcher over the past 6 years, if KW was smart he would lock him down now! You know what you get with MB. With Konerko it was different because he has a poor season in 2003 and he bounced back nice in 2004. KW wanted to make sure he didn't have another 2003 type season before he locked down Pauly longterm. With Buerhle you know your going to get 15+ wins every year and 200+ innings pitched. I say he's worth a 5 year $50 million contract. Get it done soon KW!
  3. There is this Cub fan in my class who says, "If the St. Louis made it to the WS last year, we would have lost" And I respond by saying, "Houston beat St. Louis, we swept Houston, were the champs! Better than Boston, New York, Anahiem, San Diego, Atlanta, St. Louis and Houston. hahaha you just can't take it" Another thing that works if a sCrub fan is talking smack, just say "1908" That usually shuts them up. Or you can pull a Patrick Roy and say "I can't hear you i have a WS ring stuck in my ear" Ahhh its a beautiful thing to be the champions!
  4. Its going to be a 3 way race between us, Twins and Indians again. Sorry Detroit, your just not quite yet there.
  5. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 17, 2006 -> 03:09 PM) Where would he play?? lol
  6. This is a championship team. If B.A. has a poor first half, do you guys think KW will go out and find a center fielder midseason? Or will we just stick it out with BA? Should be interesting. He replaced Rowand twice via trade, it helped ARow out in the longrun. I wouldn't be surprised if KW does it again. But then again BA is our 9th place hitter. But wouldn't you rather have Uribe hit at#9? Hmmm I smell the Griffey rumors coming back come June if BA is still struggling.
  7. Lets see JR doesnt want to be like the yankees, but he doesn't want to be like the red sox?? Pick one or the other JR. I understand the Buerhle thing to a certain extent, but i dont agree with this. Its not like there hair is as long as Damons, just some poofyness flairing out in the back and sides. Let them be, let them have fun with it.
  8. Okay i have gone to 2 games already so far this year. Both games they won, and both games were interupted by rain delays!! The home opener, and now todays game. Its all good. Maybe one of these days i'll get to see a full 9 inning game w/ no interuptions. At least I got to see Dye's blast and Thome (my homie) 7th dinger! And how can you not love Mark Buerhle!!! That guy is fun as hell! Did you hear they told him he can't do that anymore? Thats just wrong.. let the man have some damn fun! GO SOX! Its good to be back in first where we belong!
  9. QUOTE(kramer99 @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 08:16 PM) 1 bad start is an occasion 2 bad starts is a coincidence 3 bad starts is a pattern... lets just wait for his third start to see if we should worry a little bit just cuz someone says they are worried about garland... doesnt mean they are anti-sox and jumping off a ledge but anytime a pitcher has 2 TERRIBLE starts where u give up 7+ runs, u can worry a lil bit without being told to shut up and that ur not sticking by ur players that got u a title. Im Concerned with Garland and Concerned with Pods until they imrpove...which i am confident they will. I'm not jumping on garland or anything, just saying until he improves.... garland is a concern. He needs to go out there and have a good start to get rid of the concerns. Heres to a good start jon! well said kramer. its okay to be concerned with garland and pods. but like i said before coop can fix garlands problem. He is just having trouble locating his pitches. Last year his success was driven toward hs ability to pitch down and in and down and away. Right now he is having trouble with that. Coop will be able to fix this. As far as Pods is concerned, i am alittle worried about him. I've been told he hasn't had enough ABs at spring training, i've been told he isn't 100% yet. I've been told Ozzie is just saving his aggressive stealing until later on in the season. Well im not buying it. Have you guys seen Pods run recently? He is no where near as fast as he was last year, which indicates that his groin is still bothering him, which means he is not 100%, which means he'll have a hard time hitting and running. If this is the case, OG and KW should consider resting him for a few weeks and then have him get some ABs down in the minors. Yea we might lose our leadoff hitter for a month, but in the longrun it would be worth it. You say, who would replace him out in LF? And who would be our leadoff hitter? I say bring up Sweeney or Young (or is it Owens? who did we trade for duque?).
  10. Thome is a MONSTER!!!! Garland will come around. He just hasn't found his groove yet. I have a feeling Coop will fix his problem. He doesn't have any location right now. That can be fixed. Even though he pitched poorly, he got the win. So if Javier wins tommorow we'll go 1-5 starters for 5 wins in a row. Should be a good series vs the Jays.
  11. I thought Lyons would have been a great choice! But Reiny is all about oppurtunity for his old players. DJ didn't have any experience when they hired him. And Singleton the same.
  12. Jose Contreras! Can we say enough about him? He's just nasty!!!! Jim Thome!!! What a beast! This all started w/ Buerhle leading the way, now freddy and jose followed suit. Its time for Garland to bounce back and Javier to continue on w/ his success.
  13. Wow Mackowiack is getting alot of playing time early on in the season. He's a solid player, have nothing wrong with that. Cintron is an impressive contact hitter, i expect a solid game from him today. Hopefully Freddy has a good day and Pods can finally get his hitting together. Last season we went when Pods went. Well Pods hasn't been hitting/stealing or walking, time to change all that. It looks like PK is coming around and Thome is still hot! Detroit is a good team this year, this should be a competitive series. Lets play solid fundamental baseball out there!
  14. KW needs to fix this problem asap! I know alot of sox fans weren't big fans of Luis Vizciano, but he brought it every single time, and other than that debacle vs Cleveland early last year he had a pretty successful season. I wish we had him over Logan or Thorton at this point. We couldn't have got Vazquez for just El-duque and Young? I hate to 2nd guess KW, but he covered alot of things this offseason- EXCEPT the bullpen. And its that bullpen we have right now, which is going to lose the division! DO SOMETHING KENNY! Pull some of your magic! I know its practcally going to be impossible to make a trade this early on in the year, but there has to be something out there another team is willing to do.
  15. QUOTE(JoeBatterz @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 03:51 AM) Didn't the Astros start out 15-30 last year? Good point! We can defnitley rebound from a 1-4 start! Its just the fact that were losing the close games is what scares me. Winning 3-2 in the 8th on wednesday, bullpen gives up HR to tie it. Winning 3-2 yesterday, bullpen gives up HR in the 8th for them to win the game. Its time for Ozzie and Coop to realize the one guy they can count on to come into the game late and shut the door is BMac. I have a feeling we'll be seeing him this afternoon. That is of course MB doesn't shut the door himself On this day April 9th 2006, the defending champs will awaken from there sleep. The consisten winning begins NOW!
  16. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 11:01 PM) JV pitching just plain wasted today! I agree, what a solid performance. But like i said, i our bullpen has major issues right now. Starting pitching is what keeps you in games, the bullpen is supposed to maintain leads and finish the games. So far they just haven't cut the mustard.
  17. Our pen needs a slap in the face. Other than BMac, nobody has been pitching to its capabilities and the 4 loses portray that. Not that tommorow is a must win or anything, but WE DO NOT WANT TO GET SWEPT BY KC!! Seeing our record at 1-4 is pretty gross.
  18. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 07:17 AM) THE SKY IS FALLING!!!! DETROIT IS GOING TO WIN THE DIVISION!!!!! Detroit will be a hard team to beat in our division this year. If you look at it, every team improved except for Cleveland, and they are still scary.
  19. Other than Jose, the starters haven't lived up to expectations this week. Also the injuries to Dye and Pods doesn't help also. Ozzie didn't have a choice but to put Ozuna out in LF because he wanted a leadoff hitter. The problem is, Ozuna is not a natural OFer, he's an IFer. And when you have a windy game like last nite, bad things were bound to happen. Our defense is definitely missing Rowand already. If we had Rowand, he would be out in CF, and Anderson would be out in LF giving Pods a break to give his groin pull rest. This happened last year. I do love Thome, and love what he brings to us as a DH, however defense and pitching are the keys to success. And right now we have seen much of any to begin the year. I know, I know, its early. But how much longer are we going to say its 'early' before they start playing solid fundamental baseball?
  20. I love Ozzie. He is the best thing that happened to this team since he left as a player. However, he did seem to have a lack of aggressiveness tonite. Why didn't he attempt to squeeze home the winning run with A.J. on 3rd and 1 man out in the 8th inning? Why did he take out BMac after just 1 inning? Its easy to question ozzie during a loss like this, i mean PK had numerous chances to drive in runs tonite, Ozzie can't control that. BUT this team should have more ways to manufacture runs other than relying on the 'big hit'. How about the 'old' bunting him over, sacrificing him in thing? This isn't all OG's fault. Do you remember when we had that August-September slide last season? Well that is when Pods was out of the lineup. Well Pods right now is 0-12. I hate to say this, but when Pods goes so does our team. Not to mention our solid starting pitching won't mean squat with out a capable bulpen. And as of right now, im a tad bit worried about it. Okay my negativity has run dry. Lets take 2 of 3 in KC and 2 of 3 in Detroit!! Time for Pods and PK to get going!
  21. just a poor outting. put it behind us. we have to remember also, for whatever reason Freddy pitches better on the road. Lets see what he does in Detroit before we start freaking out. Maybe his arm is tired from the WBC?
  22. Okay missed the game. What happened to Freddy?!? PK went hittless again? Thome is still on fire! Its early and i remember last season we won the first 2 games of the first 4 series'. Well if we win the 1st and last game of every series we will start off with the same record we started off with last year. Come on Jose C! Shut em down tommorow, lets win the first series of the year.
  23. Garcia isn't going anywhere as long as Ozzie is around. Garcia is under rated in my opinion. I see a big year out of him. Anybody remember what he did in the playoffs? Notably Game 4 of the World Series?
