Are we at the point in the organization to start dealing away top prospects? To answer that question, I would say no. This then brings me to tradable veterans. I would consider trading Alexei for him under a few conditions: 1) Billy Beane gives the Sox and Samardzija a 24 hour window for a contract extension. I would love to see a 4 year extension. 2) The Sox not only acquire Shark which would be a risky 1 year rental, but they also acquire a top prospect in return for Alexei. Let's face it, Beane would later flip Alexei for top prospects after the 2015 season. Fact of the matter is this... Sale, Samardzija, Quintana would be a Sick trio!!!

This is just pure speculation on my part, but I can see the Sox getting involved with the A's and Braves in an attempt to finalize a three way trade. If the deal does involve Shark, one of the stipulations to the deal could be him signing an extension before it's finalized. Stay tuned.....

Montero is a nice starting point, but I think that's not enough for Alexei. The dude is coming off a career year. I understand the 'selling high' mindset, that is why the Mets would have add one of their top relievers in the deal as well or perhaps their top catching prospect.

For the first time in a very long time, the Sox have A LOT of room financially to make a significant splash in free agency. Not only that, the Sox will keep their 8th overall pick in next years draft. I am super excited to get this offseason rolling. Obviously a lefty hitter, righty starting pitcher and the bullpen will be the focus. My only wonder is if will Hahn make any shocking trades that can change the landscape of this roster next year? Will he go bold and deal someone like Ramirez or Quintana??

I'm just grateful they didn't move to Sarasota back in the late 80's. The Sox are still here, us fans have a nice stadium to watch a game at and we can tail gate One thing that I do occasionally think about is the fact they were pretty close to building the new park in Addison, IL. I wonder how that could have changed things?

I'm not sure what Hahn has planned for this offseason, but I am thrilled that they are FINALLY cutting their losses with Beckham, Dunn and De Aza. This winter will be exciting if Hahn's statements are true about being aggressive in the offseason.

The injuries of Jones and Lindstrom really put the organization in a tough spot. I thought what Hahn did last winter, trading Reed and Santiago away for young position players was a very smart move. We took an area of strength in 2013 and addressed an area of great weakness, which at the time was the offense. I don't think any of us feel bad about that Santiago for Eaton trade now do we? And I am still hopeful that Davidson will turn things around. The fact of the matter is, the organization does have a solid reputation of developing pitchers out of the bullpen, however; this year it has been a challenge to do that. I do like the progress made by Petricka and Putnam. In a year of growth, I'd say to have the bullpen the only real concern for 2015 is a success.

Hahn seemed a little upset about failing to execute that 3 team deal. I wonder if that can still be pulled off in the waiver trade month? Is it even possible to work out such a deal during this time?
