  1. Due to the fact that Peavy is only at 60-70%- who knows how long it will take before he gets the okay to pitch from the doctors and staff. Im predicting Peavy will be back around early-to-mid June. He'll need to make about 2-3 starts down in Charlotte before the call up as well. With that being said, we need to sign a veteran free agent to a minor league deal and hope it works out. We just dont have the depth down in the farm to plug in a guy. And Ozzie himself said he wants Sale in the pen in 2011. A four man rotation may sound okay at first- but it can end up costing us later on as the relievers need to stay fresh. Here is a guy we should seriously consider: * Jeremy Bonderman- I know he isn't the 2006-07 Bonderman anymore- but as a 5th starter and some spring training tweaking- we may catch lightning in a bottle here. I liked the way he was throwing the ball late in the year as well.
  2. The question is too vague. So I decided to break it down into categories. * John Danks- Best Starting Pitcher. He is the most consistent SP on the staff and eats up a lot of innings. He is extremely valuable to the rotation. * Alex Rios- Best all-around player. When it comes to tools, Alex has it all. He can hit for power, steel bases and cover a lot of ground out in CF. Its extremely refeshing to not have to worry about who will fill that CF void. * Paul Konerko- Best Slugger. This guy can work the counts and can be a major run producer. He is the KING of the Southside and im very happy they brought him back. * Alexei Ramirez- Best Defender. This guy is fun to watch. Watching him getting better and better with the glove each year has been a sight to see. I'm predicting GOLD GLOVE in 2011 * Matt Thorton- Best Reliever. This guy has been our most consistent reliever for the past 5 seasons! He comes in and gets the job done. We may even see him in some closing situations in 2011. * Gordon Beckham & Chris Sale- Most Promising. If these guys can live up to their potential in 2011. I think we can do a lot of damage in the central. * Adam Dunn- Best Addition. We lacked left handed power last year and a true DH. KW filled that hole with the signing of Adam Dunn. His career .381 OPB and 100+ RBIs is going to give our offense a major booster. * Carlos Quentin- Sleeping Giant. I know he has dissappointed us the past few seasons. However, now the pressure is off of him to be that main run producer, i think he will have a respectable season and play average defense. If we 75% of his production from 2008- that would be a HUGE lifter for this club. * Ramon Castro- Under rated. He is one of my favorites on the team. He comes in to spell AJ- can give you a big hit when you need and calls a great game! Gotta give some love to my boy Ramon!! I know these are just opinions- but it was fun to break it down like this. By doing so- it got me pretty excited for baseball and the start of 2011. The White Sox Are ALL IN and I cant wait!
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 31, 2011 -> 08:53 PM) Wants that 2nd World Series ring. Then he should have re-signed with the team he won his first one with
  4. QUOTE (joeynach @ Jan 31, 2011 -> 06:59 PM) Great to see the White Sox reward him for his tremendous efforts and pay him accordingly after he was making about $1.1M for the last 3 years. Send a great message to the White Sox young core of players. I agree! I hope Beckham ERUPTS this year!
  5. Great sign Its going to be fun watching the Ramirez-Beckham double-play connection over the next 4+ years!
  6. For those of you Freddy haters out there. Remember when the rest of the staff was sucking early on? Freddy went 4-1 in May and helped carry the team through June until they all got hot. Freddy was 4-0 in June as well. He did more than anyone expected and would be a great insurance policy for this ballclup! SIGN ME UP!
  7. QUOTE (3E8 @ Jan 26, 2011 -> 07:06 PM) I'm going to Glendale for the first time too, so ditto all of the above. Emphasis on the sluts. You don't have to go ALL the way to Arizona for that. Wrigleyville is 10 miles North of the Cell. You'll find pleanty of them there
  8. Wouldn't mind him as our emergency starter. Couldn't we just get Freddy for cheaper though?
  9. No Thanks! Jackson is my wildcard for 2011. I think he will have a Jon Garland 2005 type season for us. I was really impressed with his pitch selection, location and execution last year.
  10. OUr offense is going to be stellar in 2011. However, Im still worried about the pen with the uncertainty of Peavy and the decision with Sale. That is why i would love for them to sign Soriano. If Sale starts the season as our closer- who would be Peavy's insurance starter? Harrel?
  11. QUOTE (scotty22hotty @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 08:44 PM) Sox still need a consistent/defensive RF... Unless his foot vastly improved, Carlos needs to be on a team where he can DH 50% of the time. Hopefully KW works his magic. I would have loved to have brought in DeJesus for RF. It could be one of those things where he likely doesn't want to sell low on TCQ. Hopefully his foot heals properly and he can play adequate defense.
  12. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 02:24 PM) So where is Soriano going? It appears he doesn't have too many options. I'm sure the Phillies would love to trade Blanton somewhere and pick up Soriano, because ever other team that has made sense appears to be "out of it" He'll sign a 1 year deal with many of incentives here! For instance- X amount of saves and he'll earn an extra 2 million. IF he makes the all-star team he'll recieve X amount of dollars etc. . I just have a feeling both parties will eventually find a middle ground and he'll sign here. He would be a PERFECT fit here. And once Peavy comes back you can throuh Sale in there as well. Soriano CL Thorton L SU Crain R SU Santos R MR Ohman L MR Pena- R LR Infante R LR
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 02:18 PM) http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2011/01/whit...el-soriano.html Looks like we'll be waiting for a real good bargain. I think they will eventually find a middle ground. Chicago is his best fit no doubt!
  14. QUOTE (credescrew24 @ Jan 3, 2011 -> 05:17 PM) Take this for what it's worth but recently I was out at the mall here in socal and ran into the halos GM Tony Regans and had a chance to talk to him for a bit...he showed luv to sox fans and saw my sox tattoo on my leg and be for he left I asked for anyinside info on rumblings for the offseason. Instantly he a huge smile and said that we were guna be getting someone else good soon...??? What do u guys think could it be soriano? Let's hope another AL gm knows something in the works haha... I met Regans at a Sox game last year. What a class act! I wouldn't be suprised if was telling the truth. And if he was- im thinking it is indeed Soriano. KW's current goal is to solidify the pen.
  15. I just got kinda gidee! I really hope we can get this guy. Thank you Jerry for opening up your wallet
  16. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Dec 25, 2010 -> 10:33 AM) That the Sox are the mystery team is a real real long long stretch agreed. . but you never know. thats all im saying. The next best thing is to see Viciedo and Morel battle it out this spring. If im the Viciedo, im busting my ass at 3B all winter long trying to improve defensively. We all know the dude can swing a stick. Morel has ALOT of defensive talent at the hot corner. My only concern with him is offensive contributions. But if they want to stick with the defense and pitching motto- Morel is the guy! Or you don't have to worry about this at all and just sign Beltre
  17. Steve Phillips mentioned that the Sox should go ALL IN and bring in Beltre 2 weeks ago on ESPN1000. He brought up JR's age and it may be a factor the next few seasons as he wants nothing more than 1 more WS title. Adding Beltre would make this lineup SICK! I'm not sure how much it will cost- but the fact that we offered Kerry Wood $6 million/ season tells me KW and JR are NOT done spending and want to continue to add to this thing as much as possible. How much would Beltre cost? Not sure. But the thought of him in our lineup makes me smile. We would seriously compete w/ the Boston's and NY's if we add Beltre. Is it a pipe dream? Sure. Can it happen? You never know. This appears to be a GO ALL IN 2011 campaign! So why not add the best 3b on the market while we are at it? Merry Christmas to all my SOXTALKERS! I've been on this thing for over 5 years already!

    Peavy

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 18, 2010 -> 05:30 PM) There's talk the Yankees are interested in him. He won 12 games last year in the 5th starter slot. With Peavy questionable, it makes no sense not to bring him back. And if Peavy is strong and ready to go- Freddy can head to the pen to be a long reliever / spot starter.

    Peavy

I dont want to fool myself by saying he is going to come back and be effective. . But if he does, we have a great chance to do some serious damage this year. Until then, KW needs to sign a cheaper veteran starter to fill up the 5th slot. Whats Freddy up to these days?
  20. I'm predicting PK will sign today- and KW will also sign a reliever.
  21. I truly believe CQ will be dealt in a package to get a younger athletic OF. I think it will happen after the 1B situation is resolved with PK.
  22. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 05:20 PM) well it depends how they would spend that 5m, but I honestly don't see a team taking Juan for 5m Juan Pierre will be the Sox leadoff hitter in 2011. If you are wondering who the Sox plan on trading- it will likely be Quentin and maybe one of their SPs in a package for a defensive minded RF and relief help. Apparently they want Sale in the rotation in 2011.
