Yet most of us know there is STILL a really good chance he returns in 2024. ????

Keynan Middleton rips White Sox 'no rules' culture
GreatScott82 replied to maxjusttyped's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Rick Hahn is a bold faced liar. Chris Sale was right about him and Kw all along. Anyone have a 2023 Sox jersey to cut up? F this dysfunctional front office! Shame on any media member kissing up to that perennial failure! -

True. He tends to take the coward approach most of the time. -
Keynan Middleton rips White Sox 'no rules' culture

Someone should confront Hahn with all of this. I wonder what kind of lawyer talk he’ll pull out of his ass on this one? You have 3 former players now coming out and talking about issues in the clubhouse. You have managers telling you not to hustle down the line. You have videos surfacing of players standing around during warmups. You have players trying to fist fight other players, while playing the victim. You have players spending 3-4 stints on the IL every year who make a butt load of $$. It’s obvious that there are a lot of players on this team who don’t GAF. They are more than thrilled to collect a paycheck and go. No wonder why Abreu couldn’t wait to leave. He was tired of being everyone’s Daddy. Or no wonder why AJ Pollock declined his player option to take less $$ elsewhere. As much as we threw shade at Dallas Keuchel, and as more and more time goes by- it’s evident he was right the whole time. Kenny and Hahn need to go. And if Jerry doesn’t have the balls to pull the trigger, then he needs to sell. The way he is handling this franchise now is completely reckless. -

If JR still doesn’t fire people after this train wreck of a season, he truly doesn’t care about anything but himself and his friendships. Between clubhouse dysfunction and leaks, and PR nightmares, it’s obvious- he truly doesn’t give a s%*#. Sad way to end your ownership tenure. Loyalty is revered by most in the sports industry, but being loyal to people destroying your franchise is a dangerous and toxic approach. The entire fanbase is disgusted and pissed off. And the national media has been calling out this team all season long. Something has to give here… -
? The Sox thrive off the lightning in a bottle approach. Plus it saves them $ millions.

Grade Rick Hahn's Trade Deadline Performance
GreatScott82 replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If this was like the 2007 type bad season and the Sox still had pieces to compete the following year (like they did in 2008), I’d say, he would get an C+ for restocking a thin farm system a bit. But the reality is this main roster is beyond flawed. They have holes all over the place, the rotation is bare, the bullpen is now one big question mark and the highly touted pieces down in the farm likely won’t be ready until 2025 at the earliest. When Hahn said they have every intention of competing in 2024, I literally laughed out loud. Either Hahn and his front office are delusional or they are being dishonest with the fanbase (no shock there!). I’m not terribly upset that they didn’t deal TA when he’s having a horrible season overall and his value is down. However, I was hoping Hahn would finally be creative and swap a guy like Eloy for a unique return. I was also hoping he would be able to net 3 to 4 top prospects for Cease. I suppose he can still do as such this winter? Maybe it will take the Orioles getting bounced in the first round this year to finally be more willing to trade their awesome prospects? Hahn only seems to make the obvious deals. (Outside of the recent Burger trade or the deal for Kimbrel in ‘21) He’s been burned multiple times, now is too cautious to take risks. Trading expiring contracts on a bad team is GMing 101. By all means Hahn should not get a B or higher for doing this. My Grandma knows that this is the right thing to do and she’s been in Heaven since 2006. Honestly, I just hope that a miracle can occur and Hahn resigns this October. We need a new voice in the GM seat. I cringe anytime Hahn talks his lawyer jargon and smugly drinks his water bottle and gives this reporters snarky responses. -
Hahn officially starting his 3rd rebuild! ?????
-
Yep. I wonder what the excuse will be for cancelling the 2024 Soxfest? Not only are they bad at their jobs, but they are also cowards. What a horrible combination.
-
Anyone else hoping that Hahn’s absence during an expected presser (after the long road trip) is an indication that he may be bounced? …. Ahh but one may dream. He will likely pop back up in a few days announcing the trades for more overpriced relievers and utility players.

It’s a shame KW/Hahn wont just pull a Theo Epstein and resign. We all know Jerry isn’t firing his buddies. I’m not the biggest fan of Theo, but I do admire his leadership and the ability of knowing when it’s time to step down from a front office position. He mentioned in an interview that change in leadership is more than necessary after 10 years. Things get stale, and when it is no longer working, it’s time to give someone else a shot at it. It’s safe to say things have been very stale on the Southside. Fans have had enough of this current front office and change is not only necessary but it should be demanded by every Sox fan.
-
Rick Hahn will continue to keep his job after a plethora of failures because his owner loves yes men that never challenge the system at hand. Rick Hahn is a beta at its finest. A horrible GM and KW is a horrible Team President (is he even still around, I mean what does he do?) Sox fans are doomed until Jerry finally realizes he needs smarter, more advanced baseball people around, sells the franchise or dies and leaves his beloved nest egg to his son Michael. I’m not cheering for anyone’s death, but it’s sad that this is what likely needs to happen for change to finally take place.
-
Getz will likely suck too. But at this point of the teams current misery, anything is better than Rick Hahn.
-
Blowing it up will just confirm that Hahn’s rebuild was a complete failure. Firing Pedro Grifol will also confirm that Hahn’s hire was a complete failure. We all know Rick and Kenny care more about “proving fans wrong” than actually doing the most logical and decent thing. Because of this, they prolong misery and consequently let players of value actually lose value in the process. Outside of firing Rick Hahn, which should have already happened, (but we all know it won’t ever happen while Jerry is alive), I’m pretty sure we can all expect a half ass “retool” I fully expect no more than the rentals to be traded: Giolito, Grandal, Lynn, Gravemen and Kelly, I don’t think Hahn should be allowed to consider trading guys like Vaughn, Cease, Robert or Kopech. And I’m not even sure what kind of value TA has at this point. It’s safe to say that he’s not the SS of the future and that he doesn’t want to be here anymore. I would love for them to get some sort of value back, but TA has been absolute trash this season. But even if his value was good, Hahn isn’t creative enough to get a quality prospect back for him. My hope is Hahn gets fired before the deadline. Hell, giving KW another crack at it or giving the GM role to Getz might actually captivate my interest for the time being. But letting Hahn engineer any more roster destruction and construction just seems borderline insane at this point. It would be nice if JR woke up from his nap and finally pulled the trigger on a GM switch prior to the trade deadline.

The stadium lease actually expires officially in 2029 or the White Sox can extend it thru the 2030 season. After that, the state of the team and potential new stadium site would be unknown. At that point Jerry will be 94 years old. I’m assuming by 2027 or 2028, Jerry will likely pass the majority ownership to his son Michael. Another possibility is a new ownership group will purchase the club and pay for any tax hit penalty as a clause in such sale. Jerry will do everything in his power to minimize any tax penalties for his heirs. So having a new ownership group dish out an additional 200 million will likely be required. Long story short, the triumphant of insanity known as Jerry, Kenny and Rick will still run this dumpster fire until 2027. If a new majority owner comes on the scene by the 2027 or 2028 season, it gives them 3 full years to plan out and build a brand new stadium. We can hope it pray it’s in the Chicagoland area. If not, a potential move to a new city like Nashville might be threatened into existence.

Done! ?

It would be nice if Jerry simply held his front office accountable for failing over and over and over and over and over… you get the point. And when Jerry goes to events saying “you don’t need to win to have successful years of business” Yeah… it’s evident the man has lost his edge and it’s time to walk into the sunset. The guy simply isn’t a winner nor aspires to ever be a winner or a cut throat go all-in type owner. He could have signed Bryce “freakin” Harper for crying out loud or any of these superstar free agents over the last 3-4 years. Must be nice being a Phillies or Padres fan! We were told a string of lies during the rebuild to “trust the process”. So when it was time to be buyers, rather than getting superstars, they end up getting B level (cheaper) free agents. Sox only ever acquire B level free agents. So it doesn’t matter if it’s post rebuild, or during some retooling bullcrap. The Sox will always be mired in mediocrity. Sadly, if the Rays or Indians had the Sox mediocre payroll, they’d be world beaters. But our front office never puts a premium on scouting and development and their mlb draft results as a whole have been piss poor. This franchise is in such a dogcrap spot. One of the worst farm systems in baseball. An aging/often injured core that likely has poor trade value and a manager who seems in over his head. This season is lost. We all know it. How on Earth can Rick Hahn be in charge of a 3rd rebuild? His track record is brutal! What’s the alternative? Jerry actually firing his front office at age 87? Wont happen. Does Kenny and Rick have the class and grace that Paxson had with the Bulls and simply resign? I doubt it. Why piss away an awesome salary knowing damn well that no other team in baseball wants you on their staff. Long story short, sox fans are doomed until the sale of Jerry’s stake and/or Michael inherits the majority stake and goes all Rocky Wirtz style for our beloved White Sox… we can only hope that one day, Sox fans can one day actually have “nice things too” as RH once boldly said.
-
Awesome. All the $$ he earns from his own tv network can be allocated to putting a better product out on the field. ?
-
Not only that, but the free agent class in 2024 and 2025 is not impressive at all. As McGuff eluded to in the podcast, Sox had their opportunity to sign multiple superstars to round out this rebuild and never did it. Rebuild, Retool, it doesn’t matter. As long as Jerry is the owner, this organization will be irrelevant. And we already know Hahn and KW are bad at their jobs, so even if JR did put financial constraints on this team, it would be nice to see some different minds be in charge of this thing. Perhaps people from successful organizations like Tampa, Houston or Atlanta. My expectation for this trade deadline is simple: Hahn will trade multiple pitchers for guys who will not contribute on this major league roster at all. But at the end of the day it will save Jerry $$$ and that’s a business win for the 87 year old business tycoon. Remember, he said it.. you can still have super successful years even if you finish in 2nd or 3rd place… ? Good Lord, please let there be a new White Sox owner soon!

Garfein: Tim Anderson hates pitch clock, not Chicago
GreatScott82 replied to superchops70's topic in Pale Hose Talk
74.1% is alot less than 86%. That's about 20 games less than the average SS according your expectation percentages. Like most of this core, injuries have been a huge problem with this team, not just with Tim Anderson. Regardless, this team is a hot mess right now and injuries are a fraction of the overall problem with this franchise. -

Tim sure has been apart of alot of losing baseball around these parts. Tim also misses a bunch of baseball games. Yeesh thats alot of missed games. Not good. -
I remember reading an article in 2013 stating that Reinsdorf told his son Michael to sell the White Sox and keep the Bulls at the time of his death. That was 10 years ago, the game has changed and revenue streams are much different. So who knows if Michael will still honor that? The sweetheart stadium lease expires after the 2029 season, but the White Sox can extend it one season thru 2030. So the Sox have 6 (maybe 7) more seasons at the GRate. I think if a new ownership group eventually buys out Reinsdorf and his old timer ownership group, the time to buy will be between 2026 and 2027. It usually takes 2-3 years to design and build a new stadium ?️. There is no way the state of Illinois will finance another stadium to Reinsdorf or the new ownership group whomever and whenever they come onto the scene. One can only hope whoever does purchase the White Sox, can privately finance a new stadium and keep them in the Chicagoland area. It’s a shame the inevitable end of the Jerry reign as white Sox majority owner is taking a turn for the worse. The direction and hope for this franchise is the lowest I can ever remember.
-
Yep. And that one HR drove Hahn to give Leury that ridiculous contract. Hahn has had 3 golden opportunities to improve this flawed roster since that 2021 playoff trip and he has failed mightly. (Two winters and One trade deadline). The triumverate of stupidity will continue to butcher this team as long as they run the show. Wake me up when Hahn and KW pull a Gar/Pax resignation. Because Jerry won't fire his buddies no matter how brutal they are. Sad.
-
Jerry is an absentee landlord. Results don’t even matter to him at this stage of his life. At this point, he’s just going to be amazed by his profits and take that personal victory to the grave. Results don’t seem matter to Hahn and KW either. Regardless, they know they have job security. Jerry has officially turned into a lesser shrewd Bill Wirtz. The franchise is screwed until Jerry leaves.

Nightengale: Gio won't be on 2024 White Sox
GreatScott82 replied to Lip Man 1's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Seems like you can only pull up a handful of quality deals Hahn has executed over his tenure. I would have to admit- during the rebuild- I applauded many of his moves. However, he failed to round out a complete roster. He failed to continue to replenish the farm to build up better prospect capital. There are a plethora of bad free agent signings and bad trades as well. To me, you can simply rank a GM based on overall win %. His is the worst during his 10 years as GM as it stands. And most other GM's were fired after 4-5 years with a similar win %. Must be nice to have some sort of accountability. Yes, my response might have been hyperbole. But the #'s are pretty obvious. He's bad. The last time I checked, the Sox STILL don't have a RF. That's on Hahn.
