QUOTE (RME JICO @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 03:18 AM) It can't be variable and change within the 48 hours, so it has to be when the player is actually put on waivers. That is the order of precedence that teams can acquire them. So the start of the 48 hour time period. So as of August 10th, the Sox could have claimed Manny because they were in 2nd place at the time they claimed him and Minny could NOT block the deal correct? Obviously this is all a hypothetical, I am just trying to get a better understanding ot the waiver rules like everyone else.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 10:01 PM) Wow... I would have sure love to have Berkman for nothing. That + EJax would have been a hell of a deadline. Yea. . i loved their approach of 'not taking away from the current product' meaning he'll trade only from the minors. KW will still get a bat. It may not be a significant bat- but he'll definitley get something.

I would rather take one last crack at Manny before we go to other options.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 08:37 AM) Wow. What the f*** is with this Kotsay obsession???? I have a feeling Kotsay is going to do something HUGE either to help us clinch the division or something important in the playoffs. That usually happens where there is a lot of hatred toward a player on a successful team.
-
I'm guessing KW will aqcuire someone around Aug. 29th. Because the rosters expand on September 1st. The organization wouldn't have to worry about sending a man down. At that time the Dodgers will likely be more than out of the race meaning they will likely deal Manny to a contending team.

Gavin Floyd Named AL Pitcher of the Month for July

G Floyd has been absolutely BRILLIANT! -
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 04:28 PM) So what happens when Ozzie does or says something to upset him while he's here? He go into pouty, fake injury mode? I don't think he would do that here. Ozzie will keep him in check. They have a very good relationship.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 04:24 PM) WTF? Really? This is something new. Almost seems false. Yep Manny only wants to come to the White Sox and if he falls through NL waivers- the Sox can pretty much claim him for nothing.
-
Just listened to the score and Bernstien said the White Sox are going to wait until Manny goes through NL waivers before they claim him. Said LA is sick of him and Manny only wants to play on the White Sox.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 10:19 PM) Yeah, people like to say it was a block but there's simply no way you make a $60M block, not a chance. Especially when you KNOW the team putting him on waivers is desperately cash strapped and not all that happy with the performance/attitude of said player. KW wanted Rios. And now we know why. The dude is a hell of an all-around player!

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:44 AM) From Peter gammons: Rizzo is playing hardcore hardball. I'm going out on a limb and say the Sox pull a quick one to acquire PRINCE!

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 09:55 PM) Oh. So he is a douche. i dont want nobody here who doesn't want to be here. ask him how was his experience during the '05 fall classic?

QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 09:40 AM) That's fine and all, but this isn't a move you make in the middle of a f***ing division race. Seriously. Hudson and Jackson are pretty much a wash, except one is under our control for a lot longer and a lot cheaper! He better be moved elsewhere. He can also flip Jackson to Washington straight up for Dunn. However, then you have a HUGE hole at the 5th starting spot. Honestly, I would much rather keep Jackson and go get a different bat. Jackson has playoff experience and is proven in the A.L. I think KW is worried about relying on Hudson during the playoff stretch which makes sense. I think Jackson will succeed with us.
-
QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 09:35 AM) Wow, I absolutely hate this trade. Why the f*** wouldn't we just stick with Hudson? Jackson hasn't been much better this year. KW wants pitching depth and feels Jackson has great stuff. His numbers aren't the greatest but last year in Detroit he was pretty damn good. I think a change of scenary would do him good. Look for KW to go get fat elvis soon after! (Berkman)

QUOTE (beck72 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 11:53 AM) Makes perfect sense. Why wait for the Nats price to come down. Be proactive and get another hitter. I like the mid-rotation starter. The Sox need someone to be a solid #4, as Freddy has thrown a lot of pitches this yr. I would love Brett Myers for a mid-rotation starter.
-
Looks like a three-way deal is possibly in the works. Hudson and fillers to Arizona. Dunn to the White Sox Jackson to Washington Hopefully the next move will be for a legit starting pitcher. I sure would love Grienke!
-
Latest from Ken Rosenthal per Foxsports.

I love our 1-2 combo in Danks and Floyd!!
-
QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 05:30 PM) If KW could get Dunn and Grienke.. man that would be orgasmic.. KW has always loved Grienke. . I can see this being his 'under the radar' move.
-
QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 05:24 PM) If we end up moving Hudson to get a bat (I'm not suggesting we do, just saying what-if we did)... What veteran pitcher might we be able to pick up to fill the back of the rotation for the remainder of this year? (Ignore the 2011 implications for a minute. I'm just trying to figure out if there might be an arm out there we haven't considered that could help us in a pennant push.) For example... Jake Westbrook could probably be had for a song. Not a huge fan. But he could be an asset at the back of a rotation. Others? Say that proposed 3 team deal goes down where Washington gets Jackson, we get Dunn and AZ gets a lot of prospects, I can see KW trading Hudson as a center package piece for Grienke.
-
I've mentioned adding a third team a couple days ago. . looks like KW reads my posts Get it done KW! If we can get this done w/o involving Hudson and Beckham- WOW!
-
There are pleanty of routes KW can take to get this done. I trust KW. He's truly one of the best in the game!

QUOTE (3E8 @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 09:10 AM) This is not a guarantee. He was Type A as of a few weeks ago, but right on the cusp. The Nats can't use his Elias status the same way say the Brewers could Fielder, who is a Type A slam dunk barring injury The question is. Do the Nats or Brewers want to wait for their draft picks to develop in to major league players or do they want guys who can contribute this year.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 09:56 PM) I haven't the slightest clue. I do maintain that we could see a guy like Parra coming back to though... Agreed. They would have in involve Parra unless we get a pitcher from a third team.
