Call me crazy but I have a feeling KW goes balls out and aqcuires Adrian Gonzales. If there is one guy to give up a huge chunk of your farm for- its for a cheap superstar such as A-Gon. It fits KW's mold perfectly. .

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 08:11 PM) Ugh, just say no to Thome. I love me some J. Gomes, and would love to have him on the team. agreed. i'd rather see Flowers get his share of ABs as a part time DH / part time catcher over a Thome return.

I would much rather have Gardner!

QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 05:17 PM) From my understanding he should be ready to throw by spring training if not sooner. He better be. I dont want him coming into spring training looking like that guy on your avatar.

Love this deal !! Wonder if Jenks will be dealt now. . (Hmmm we still need a leadoff hitter. .)
-
get it done- we need to add depth to our pen. and if putz is 100% healthy- our pen instantly gets a lot better. im guessing this move would signify the end of the Bobby Jenks era.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 07:42 PM) The Sox have said they were working to come up with ways to add a little bit of payroll room. One of those ways might be attempting to attract Japanese sponsors through the signing of Matsui. Perhaps signing Matsui for $8M per is the same thing as signing an American for $5M per because of the added income. Just a guess. Thats a very interesting way of looking at it. Matsui would definitley open up a new door of potential sponsorships and revenues. His status is parallel to that of Ichiru.

I would do this deal if we immediatley signed him to an extension. You figure CQ's health has been a major issue and he has yet to play a full season at the MLB level. Ozzie and KW love Crawford and i think he fits the mold of this team perfectly- speed- defense and pitching. If you acquire him and Matsui- you would have aqcuired the 2009 All star game MVP and World Series MVP all in the same week. Not bad!

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 05:15 PM) I think Ozzie needs to get over this 'I want my DH to be able to play the field" crap. I mean players for the most part that are DH's are DH's for a reason. I don't care if my DH can't play the field. I want my DH to mash. werd my brotha! Carl Everett and Big Frank never saw the field in 2005 and that seemed to work out fine.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 04:31 PM) Matsui is the perfect fit for DH, and I think we have a great chance of getting him. ^^^^

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 04:17 PM) Ran across a tweet that we are interested in Juan Pierre. The dodgers are shopping him. I wouldn't mind Pierre if the Dodgers pay most of his salary which could happen if they get something decent in return.

The Winter Meetings are about to get underway. I predict KW to do something HUGE, perhaps involving Jenks. . . The Rays want to add a backstop and bolster their bullpen. Hmm perhaps Jenks and Flowers for BJ Upton.

QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 03:45 PM) i dont care how it gets done, lets just get gonzalez lol Gonzalez is a beast! Get it done! -
Honestly with the lack of quality lefty relievers out there, we are better off holding onto Jenks and hoping he rebounds. We are going to need Thorton in that 7th and 8th inning role.

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Dec 2, 2009 -> 08:40 PM) Sox fans over-value John Danks. He's a decent pitcher. John Danks is awesome! I think many fans and critics undervalue him.

Apparently the Red Sox are shifting Pedroia from 2B to SS and looking into signing FA Placido Polanco. . http://browniepoints.mlblogs.com/archives/...soxs_radar.html

White Sox Now: Active, But Questions Remain

QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Dec 1, 2009 -> 12:16 PM) With Vlad, Thome, Johnson and Matsui all out there and all, most likely, limited to only AL teams, I think there's a cheap DH to be had if KW waits it out. Exactly. No need to rush to sign a DH. I think KW is currently figuring out how he will fill up that leadoff spot... this will most likely be his 'big splash' during the winter meetings. -
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Nov 30, 2009 -> 04:47 PM) Alex Cora signed with the Mets; 1 year, $2M Jason Larue re-signed with the Cardinals The shortstops are dropping like flies. Yep. The Red Sox are pretty much forced into signing Scutaro- unless they aqcuire a SS via trade

Report: Sox, 7 other Teams Interested in Takashi Saito

QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 29, 2009 -> 04:38 PM) I actually think it's brilliant what Kenny is doing. The current market is vastly undervaluing veterans right now, so it's a good place to recoup some of the value we are overpaying on for guys like Konerko, Peavy, and Mark. exactly. good post. -
I would say the chances of Florida moving Ramirez is about 5%. There is a much better chance acquirering Gonzalez or Upton. If Boston wants Doc Halladay, they will have to deal Buchholtz. To aqcuire Hanley it would most likely have to be Ellsbury, Buchholtz, Bard among others. Our offer would have to be: Alexei, Viciedo, Flowers and Hudson. Seriously as much as I would love to have Hanley- we have other pressing needs- and if we are going to strip away our farm- it better be to fill those needs. (leadoff OF, Powerhitter 1B/DH, bullpen)

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 27, 2009 -> 04:44 PM) It is and the folks we would be giving up simply opens more holes in our line up Kind of. At the same time you strengthen your pen, and could shift Bacon to SS and sign a 2B via free agency at a reasonable market price. Hudson and Polanco are both players KW has shown interest in previous years.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Nov 27, 2009 -> 03:38 PM) I still don't get why everybody is so ready to just throw Beckham in the 3 hole. IMO...he's just NOT ready for that role yet. I actually think Beckham would do wonders in the 3 hole. Unlike most hitters in our lineup- Bacon has the ability to hit to the opposite side of the field and find the gaps. He could have a very big year offensively in the 3 hole if given the opportunity.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 27, 2009 -> 03:21 PM) Well, I was actually thinking about this trade last night. Can someone fill me in on why the BoSox would trade Ellsbury? Do they have a ready to go CF prospect (I doubt BA is their solution). Boston has a lot of depth in the farm, not to mention they will be signing Bay or Halladay to take the other open OF spot. I could also see them go after Granderson if they deal Ellsbury away.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 27, 2009 -> 02:08 PM) Be wary of the Red Sox. If they want Alexei, then that means Bill James thinks Alexei is a star in the making. James knows his s*** and he is the Bosox player adviser. I think Alexei should be close to untouchable with what he's shown so far this early in his career. If we deal him, we better get big time talent back and not let somebody steal him. I'm not crazy about his defense at ss but he has shown big time potential. Ellsbury would be that big time talent. He is 26 years old, stole 70 bases, hit .301 and had an OBP of .355 in 2009.
