  1. Key numbers according to MLB Network: Sox would have to go 11-6 while the Tigers go 6-12. That would be hilariously awesome if that happens!
  2. Freddy has been a reliable 5th starter for us. Pitched well vs Boston and New York in hostile environments. We would be foolish not to take that.
  3. KC is playing really good ball right now. I wouldn't be suprised if they win a couple more vs Detroit. That being said, we really need to take these next 2 vs Seattle.
  4. 6.5 back with 18 to go. Its all but over. . I just hope we make it interesting. That would be pretty sweet if we could get it to 3 games back going into the final series vs Detroit.
  5. 6 back. Detroit has 1 left with Toronto. Sox have off day tommorow. Next up: Detroit vs KC (KC loves playing the spoler mode) Sox @ Seattle (Sox are going to need to sweep a team eventually) My hope is that Detroit's lead shrinks to 4.5 games by the end of the next series.
  6. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 13, 2009 -> 04:25 AM) rios could come back to make kenny look like a genius, but right now the guy doesn't even deserve to be playing I think Ozzie wanted Rios to get comfortable before he said anything. Hopefully this will light a fire under his a$$. Rios is a very talented CF. Offensively he needs to stop pulling away from pitches. If he could take notes from Beckham or Pods he would do wonders for our lineup. He needs to become a contact hitter. Go with the outside pitch and drive it into RF etc. . . Yesterday he hit the ball hard a few times. But he also struck out in a key situation. Walker better make Rios his offseason project like he did with Crede in the winter of 05.
  7. Rios can cover a ton of ground out in CF. We have resolved our CF defensive issue. Rios has proven to hit before. He will hit again. When will that be? The hell if i know, the sooner the better. I was really hoping he drove in Getz with 2 outs in the 9th.
  8. Danks was awesome!! Detroit is scuffling. Lets get this thing down to 5 by the end of the nite. As Kevin Garnett once said, "ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!!"
  9. Detroit is scuffling right now. Its a shame the Sox didn't win the last 3 because if they did, they would be only 4 games back. The key is to be 3 games back going into that final series in Detroit. Winning these next 2 in LA would do wonders, but i wouldn't be suprised if they lost them both. Lets face it guys. This team is bone average. But will i stop watching? Hell no. As long as their is a mathmatical chance, I am going to watch.
  10. I have a very good feeling we will win this series vs LA. Lets just hope Detroit starts sinking. The main goal would be to get that lead down to 3 games in time for that final series of the year. I think we could definitely gain 3 games by then.
  11. I cant wait to see Peavy pitch. Maybe Peavy and Cutler make their Chicago regular season debuts on sunday? That would be friggin sweet!
  12. The Tigers are due for a september slide. Losing 3 straight to the Royals is a start.
  13. JD's struggles is a huge reason why this team is 6.5 games back and not 2.5 games back. If he's not injured im pretty worried about his rapid decline in production. If thats the case, I would be extrememly hesitant to bring him back in 2010.
  14. I guess the Tigers losing to the Royals twice in a row is a good sign. . . I have slim hope- but hope nonetheless. I guess anything is possible. Its all going to depend on how we do on the west coast trip. One thing I have recognized in baseball over the years. . these last place division dwellar teams can be dangerous at this time of year. And Detroit will play a lot of them lately.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 8, 2009 -> 11:46 PM) From tonight's A's debacle story on the AP: After taking consecutive series from the Yankees and Angels earlier this summer, the White Sox promptly lost two of three to Cleveland. They are 15-17 against the league’s three last-place teams — Oakland, Baltimore and Kansas City. “That’s White Sox 2009,” manager Ozzie Guillen said. “If you want to compete in any season, you beat the crap out of teams with a losing record and you fight against the other ones. We do totally opposite of what we should do.” What is your take on Oz's comment?? Good news on Peavy as well. NOTES: If White Sox RHP Jake Peavy has an effective, pain-free throwing session Wednesday, he could start as soon as this weekend, pitching coach Don Cooper said. Peavy, acquired from San Diego at the trading deadline, has been on the DL since June 13 with an ankle injury. He was just rounding into shape when he was struck on the right elbow by a line drive Aug. 29 in his fourth rehab start. ... Suzuki is batting .320 on the road vs. .220 at home. ... White Sox 3B Gordon Beckham missed his third straight game with a sore side and Guillen said he expected to rest the rookie Wednesday, too. Good News. If he's pain free today. I'm guessing he will start tuesday vs Seattle. But who knows with all of these set backs.
  16. QUOTE (son of a rude @ Sep 7, 2009 -> 11:12 AM) matt holliday isnt making that much this year either. Your right. But Matt Holliday is also going to get a monster contract this offseason while Abreu wont.
  17. Abreu isn't making that much this year. I'm sure we could have him at a 2 year- $16 million deal. Figgins may be a little too pricey. And if that is the case, another year of Pods may not be a bad option after all. Esspecially with Jordan Danks waiting in the wings.
  18. I want both Figgins and Abreu. It seems like every year Abreu hits a quite .300 with 100 rbi and a high OBP. Not to mention he hits on the left side, something KW will be looking for this offseason. Figgins LF Beckham 3B Abreu DH Konerko 1B Quentin RF (i think at 100% he'd be fine out there) Pierzynski C Rios CF Getz 2B Ramirez SS Rotation: Peavy, Buerhle, Floyd, Danks, Garcia (Hudson/Torres as backup options)
  19. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 5, 2009 -> 02:08 PM) We need to ban you from ths site. I can tell that you would never make it as a MLB GM If you have an oppurtunity to add Felix to an already strong rotation- you do it. And ban me from this site?!? never!! My 'offer' was a bit exaggerated because of how much in return Seattle would ask for, and they have every right to ask for the moon for King Felix.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 5, 2009 -> 09:34 AM) Floyd or Danks would have to be in the deal. I would offer Floyd, Ramirez, Hudson and Viciedo for Felix.
  21. I would bleach my hair AJ style. And im a teacher so i would get a lot of criticism.
  22. I am really worried about this Rios pick up. The dude can play stellar D, but he can't hit a lick. Didn't we have that with BA for a much cheaper cost? He seems to be pulling everything. Pena is garbage. Between him and Linebrink they must have lost at least 10-12 games by now.
