  1. QUOTE (tommy @ Sep 1, 2009 -> 12:49 AM) I also wonder how does Alexei feel about Jose's departure ? Who cares. He will likely be dealt this winter also. This is some crazy crap to wake up to. Contreras was a beast in 05 and 06 but injuries and inconsistencies have really tampered his career. W/O him we get no ring. So i am very thankful for Contreras. Good luck in Colorado. Thome's time here was extremely fun. I remember in 06 when he started the year hitting all those homeruns in consecutive games. I remember telling my brother "were going to win this thing again". Unfortanatley we didn't but it was fun nonetheless. His legend as a White Sox will come from that blackout game, hitting that monster shot breaking the 0-0 tie and hugging Ken Griffey Jr near the dugout. His walkoff 500th HR was also pretty cool Its time to move on. . this season is over. Lets see what other players could do. 2010 is on the way.
  2. This team sucks. I hate to say it but it is what it is. Start looking ahead to 2010. Until then we have Cutler and Da Bears.
  3. what AL team could possibly use Thome? The Rays perhaps? And the Giants could easily use Dye. I think Linebrink stays.
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 02:49 PM) Fixed that for ya. Our rotation isn't the issue. Hudson does have potential as a great starter one day, but with the state of our pen- he could definitley help.
  5. QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 01:47 PM) This is my *probable* lineup for 2010, not my dream lineup. This assumes that most of our disposable income goes towards the bullpen... 1. Pods, LF 2. Rios, CF 3. Beckham, 3B 4. Quentin, RF 5. Thome, DH (AJ and Flowers will spell him) 6. PK, 1B 7. AJ/Flowers (platoon), C 8. Alexei, SS 9. Getz/Nix (platoon), 2B That is the probably lineup. But the defense will continue to suck in the infield as long as Alexie is at SS. That may be a good way to introduce Flowers however. Slowly plug him in there.
  6. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 02:35 PM) I think we all know what is going to happen... Every game in this dump has a similar script. like the whole were up 4-1 in the 8th and end up losing 5-4. yea that script has sucked for a long time.
  7. awesome. now bring up Hudson for the pen.
  8. Which screws up first tonight: our defense or our bullpen?
  9. There is going to be a lot of changes this offseason. Will it be Getz or Alexie at 2B? One thing is for certain, they will not leave the infield alone after all these errors. Some interesting SS free agents include: Wilson, Greene and Scutaro. Some interesting 3B free agents include: Beltre and Figgins. I'm not sure if Beckham could make the re-swtich back to SS but im sure he would be better than ALexie. I think Alexie might be the one who gets traded this offseason, but if not he will go back to 2B no doubt. It seems as if all the additions KW makes is via trade. But the one guy i could see him signing is Figgins. Here is my tentative 2010 lineup: Figgins 3b (KW and Ozz have been craving this guy for awhile) Beckham SS Quentin LF Thome DH (signs a 1 year 5 mil deal) Konerko 1B Abreu RF (KW has always liked the dude) Pierzynski C Rios CF Ramirez/Getz 2B (1 will get traded hopefully for bulpen help)
  10. Linebrink is terrible. Williams should be in the minors. Pena is a mental midget. Thorton is burned out. Jenks is okay but isn't the same. Dotel is bone average. Carrasco is a decent middle reliever. Yep our bullpen SUCKS!!!!! Oh and im not sure what the hell happened to Dye? He downright sucks. And he has sucked for a long time now. He's a huge reason we suck.
  11. I was against shutting him down. but im starting to think that it may be the smartest idea. we are going to need him 100% in 2010. 2009 is garbage.
  12. QUOTE (b-Rye @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 02:43 PM) Nick Masset: 2.81 ERA 57.2 IP Mike Macdougal: 1.98 ERA 36 IP David Aardsma: 2.26 ERA 31 Saves I would like them back. ahhh the ones the got away.
  13. Now that the baseball season is over. ONE WORD: C-U-T-L-E-R!

  15. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 11:26 AM) Come on. They've shown no ability to come back and take this division this season. So because the Tigers' lead won't be ridiculous at the end of this road trip, the team will magically turn it on and close the gap? probably not. thanks for bringing me back down to reality. Our team just isn't that good this year. Its all about 2010 from here on out.
  16. Im just suprised we are only 5 games back. If the Sox somehow end this horrible road trip only 3 games back- were going to win this thing. This team is too talented to not be in this race to the end. Hopefully Ozzie's tirade will light that 'fire' thats been missing. Lets do this!!!!! Its not over yet!!
  17. KW will use his imagination to the extreme this winter.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 01:31 PM) They have to replace Dye with Quentin...that will help with the range, or find another RFer, and I doubt that will be Vladimir Guerrero, who's about as limited as JD now physically. I really wouldn't even mind someone like Fr. Gutierrez or Endy Chavez in our outfield, but there's no way in hell I'm relying on Pods to be a starter next year...forget it. Ramirez moves to 2B (or is traded, or the Nix/Getz platoon again)...Beckham to SS and Fields/Viciedo/Nix (but probably a veteran 3B on a one-year contract while waiting for Viciedo) is the most likely. Fields and Getz definitely look to be the odd men out at this point, although we might need to keep Fields because his value is so low and because Thome AND Dye might both be gone, so we'll need to produce offense somehow. A better LFer, Rios in CF, Quentin in RF, Beckham/Ramirez up the middle, a better defensive 3B....we're not going to get any better with AJ/Flowers at catcher. Ramirez did look good at 2B last year. But he's a terrible SS. The question is what could bring you more in return for a trade- Ramirez or Getz? You could probably get a nice return if you trade Alexie, not so sure about Getz. Figgins plays pretty 3b, i wouldn't mind an infield of Figgins, Beckham and Getz with Nix as the backup. Quentin in left isn't bad. Rios has added a much needed upgrade in CF. Dye needs to go. We need a RF who has a glove. In summary: Trade Ramirez. Let Dye walk. And add a couple of defensive minded players who could swing a decent bat.
  19. QUOTE (son of a rude @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 01:23 PM) not sure what the white sox plan on doing to help the defense next year aside from playing rios every day. Ramirez will be traded. We will have a new SS or 3B next year. I honestly think Beckham could be a great SS in this league.
  20. This team has packed it in. Contreras career as White Sox has officially ended. Watching this team play defense this year has been bad for the eyes. I'm still going to watch, but i no longer have hope. If you can't win the close games, you can't come from behind to win, your defense sucks and your pen struggles- you don't deserve to win anything.
  21. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 03:58 PM) AJ's a winner, plain and simple. Gotta love the guy. A lot of people credit Ozzie for changing the culture and attitude of our team and rightfully so. However, I think AJ should get a lot of credit as well. He brought over a winning swagger and the 'i'll do anything to win' attitude that we never had. AJ is awesome and he is having another solid season.
  22. Buerhle will beat C.C. for the first time in his career tonite! I could feel it!! I have a feeling the Sox will do really well this series.
  23. There are a lot of great bars in downtown Boston. I stayed At the Boston Plaza Hotel when i was there for a conference and you could literaly walk to the actual 'cheers' bar which was pretty neat. Fenway is about 6-8 miles away from downtown so it isn't to bad. Just take the train. Don't stay in Boston for too long though, you will eventually start talking with that ridiculous accent.
