  1. The Sox are in a perfect position to go up 3.5 games tonight. Cliff Lee is pretty much unhittable, Phil Hughes is very hittable. I hope Richard brings his A game tonight. If we can get a 3.5 game lead with Minny heading to Tampa for 4, and us heading to KC we can possibly clinch in Minny! How sweet would that be after all the times Minny celebrated there division titles on the Southside... We'll see. You can tell the team was amped up having Paulie's presence in the lineup last night. Lets keep it going....
  2. my dream scenario would be: 1) Just make the playoffs 2) Get CQ back as a pinch hitter for the post season (i doubt it, but u never know) 3) Our pen gets back on track during the final week of the regular season. 4) Pauly doesnt miss a step since his injury (we can see if this happens as early as tonite). Dont get me wrong I have hope. Esspecially with Minny going up to TB for 4 games. During those games we will be playing KC. Thats a BIG oppurtunity to FINALLY put a stranglehold on the division.
  3. Unless we have a 3+ lead heading into that Minny series, there is no magic number.
  4. note to ozzie Wasserman and Ramirez suck! Other than mop up duties, they shouldn't even come near the mound. Our pen ERA in September is over 6. Pathetic! We have a chance to gain ground and once again the bullpen wont let that happen.
  5. Lets win 2! Haha i doubt that. We suck in double headers. I'll be content with a split and with an Orioles sweep over the Twins.
  6. That was clearly a must win. But then again every game is a must win. Good job by the new group 4 (Owens, BA, D. Wise). Buerhle was awesome.
  7. Well this solidifies Brian Andersons spot the rest of the year, our lineup just got a ton worse in a matter of 6 days.
  8. yep were in trouble. our hottest hitter goes down (who knows how serious). We already lost the 2 allstars of the team (1 being the MVP of the league). And now the blackhole of the rotation is being more and more apparent as Richard is starting to get lit up. The next 2 are now must wins as we are only 1 game up and the Twins are playing the loley Royals at the Baggie dome.
  9. I say CQ's chance of coming back for the playoffs is about 15%.
  10. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 04:22 PM) They have the formula that beats us. They keep the ball in the park, and dont walk the world. If we cant bang the ball over the fence we are done. We cant score any other way. Its over the fence or we go home. thats why he shouldn't of had Alexie bunt. You figure our only way is 3 cracks at a winning homerun, not to mention they failed moving the man over like 4 other times before that.
  11. Pathetic display of execution tonight. 0-4 in bunt attempts, are you serious? I dont know why Ozzie didn't let Alexie swing that bat with that dude being so wild. Why give up an out when you have 3 cracks to win the game. Oh well- they deserved to lose that game. 0-5 vs the Jays this year, not good.
  12. Screw that! It better not be called off. ITs my bday and im heading to the game now.
  13. This first one is important. Buerhle really needs to step it up tonight! How about a big game from Junior to ease our minds alittle bit!
  14. Minny still has 11 tough games on road before that key series... We still have a shot at this division. Im holding on to hope... This sucks, but we have guys who can still hit for power: Pauly is heating up, Thome has turned it around, JD has been clutch all year, Griffey can get hot, Swisher can get hot again, Alexie has been phenominal, OC has been clutch, AJ has had a great season offensively. We still have a very good lineup.... Its all up to our pitching. If our starters step it up, we get a healthy Linebrink back and if MacDougal has been rejuvinated, than our pen just got a whole heck of a lot better. Call me peter positive, but i believe we still have a shot at it.
  15. Lets just hope Griffey stays healthy and gets hot down the stretch.... thanks for an amazing season Carlos!! Hopefully we'll carry you to the finish line!
  16. Danksy will be fine! He had 2 bad outings... how many did Buerhle/ Vazquez have this year? It happens... he'll rebound, he's not tired, doesnt have dead arm, he just wasnt hitting his spots.
  17. This means more of Brian Anderson- this guy has shown to hit the ball this year and his defense is still stellar, if anything our defense will be there the rest of the way.
  18. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 11:03 AM) well, know this - it obviously wasn't picked up on x-ray, which means the fracture must be slight if it is indeed a fracture. They could only see it on MRI. And it appears that he was able to swing a bat and throw a ball with the injury, so it could be a 4-6 week thing where he stabilizes it in a cast. great imput! I was just thinking that, the dude was just missing homeruns and still getting big hits in Boston playing with the injury. The dude will be back just in time for the playoffs if we make it. I garuntee that.
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 11:51 AM) BREAKING NEWS FROM THE SCORE Jesse Rogers says wrist injury is severe and there is a fracture possibility. He's more than likely out for the rest of the regular season. DAMN!! Lets just hope its not a fracture. If it is he wont play in the playoffs (if we make it). If its just a severe bruise or sprain or whatever, i garuntee you he will be ready to go for the playoffs. Tampa has survived without Crawford/Longoria for a good chunk of the season, were going to have to do the same with out our best player. Brian Anderson- get ready! Ken Griffey- get ready! Its up to you guys if we make it.
  20. Lets hope its just a serious bone bruise. If something is fractured he will likely be done for the season. If thats the case we might as well kiss this season goodbye. Im sure as hell glad we got KGJ now as an insurance policy. Everyone needs to step it up now.
  21. We catch a break by this! Lets hope Buerhle shows up today.
  22. Thome will be our DH next year. The dude can still swing the bat. I know many of us written him off early, but he turend the corner and has been a huge boost to this offense. Its good to see Paulie back in the swing of things also.
  23. QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 01:42 PM) Let's not forget Javy threw a pretty good game too. beat ya to it
  24. Lets not discount Javy's perfomance. When he's on- he's on! If Dye makes that catch in the 6th inning (which he definitley could have) this game could have easily been 4-0. Buerhle and Danks obviously need to step it up now. I'd like to see more Anderson out in CF down the stretch. PK is swinging a very nice bat also. Were all Blue Jay fans tonight. Burnett has been pretty nasty lately, lets hope he continues that trend. I would love to be +.5 or +1.5 games as we begin our series vs the Angels.
  25. HUGE WIN thanks to the HUGE BEAST aka Bobby Jenks...
