  1. Peralta just missed it... take out Thorton please...
  2. If Linebrink shuts down the 8th i'll be gitty! Because then we actually have hope going down the stretch run.
  3. Starting lineups? How about Brian Anderson today?
  4. I think its safe to say Boston takes the Wild Card. The winner of central will come down to that series in Minnesota... Until then it would be nice to have a 1 or 2 game lead heading into that.
  5. Today is a must win.... coming home to play the Angels isn't going to be fun. After Toronto the Twins have 6 pretty easy games vs Detroit and KC at home. It would be nice to see alittle urgency out of the guys...
  6. The 2008 team is very much one dimensional. Its important to have those speedy guys in ur lineup. We only have one guy who has true speed and thats Alexie. Looking at many of the divison leaders in the AL, all of them have guys at the top with speed. Boston has Pedroia, Elsbury. Minny has Gomez, TB has Upton and Crawford, LA has Figgins, not mention many others who can steal at any given moment. Its obvious we need to get fast, need alittle more diversity in the lineup. Im sure KW knows this and im sure KW will figure something out in the offseason. As of now we just have to hope that our boppers keep bopping because thats the only way the 2008 White Sox can win games.
  7. Time for Buerhle to step up, Time for the offense to step up, Time for the defense to step up, Lets win this game!!
  8. im guessing Griffey gets the day off and we see the normal lineup? OC, AJ, CQ, JD, JT, PK, AR, NS, JC?
  9. So apparantly the Indians have won 10 straight and are currently in 3rd place... wow, the rebuilding effect is already showing positive signs....
  10. hahahahaha i could see it now... a key situation in the game Griffey comes to the plate with Soul Glo blaring in the background....
  11. according to baseball-reference.com (thanx rmejico): Scenario #5: If three Clubs in a League are tied with identical winning percentages at the end of the championship season and two of those tied Clubs are from the same Division and are also tied for first place in that Division and the third tied Club has the highest winning percentage among the second-place Clubs in the remaining two Divisions, the Division Champion shall first be determined by a one-game playoff on Monday, September 29. Any playoff games played to determine a Division champion shall not count in determining which Clubs are deemed tied for a Wild Card designation. Clubs that were originally tied with a Club or Clubs for a Wild Card designation shall still be considered tied. Example of Scenario #5: The Houston Astros, St. Louis Cardinals and Florida Marlins all have identical winning percentages at the end of the championship season. The Astros and Cardinals are tied for first place in the NL Central and the Marlins have the highest winning percentage among the second-place Clubs from the NL East and NL West. The Astros and Cardinals would play a one-game playoff on Monday, September 29. The winner shall be declared the Division Champion. Despite the loss, the losing Club would still be considered tied with the Marlins for the lead in the NL Wild Card. Those two Clubs would play a one-game playoff on Tuesday, September 30. The winner of that game shall be declared the Wild Card. So if the Sox and Twins are tied for the division, they would play a 1 game playoff on Monday, September 29th @ the winner of a coin flip. The winner of that game wins the AL Central. However, the loser gets another chance as they would play the Red Sox for the wildcard on Tuesday, September 30th @ the winner of a coin flip. This would be very very interesting if it shall occur. Lets avoid this and just win the central outright
  12. QUOTE (G&T @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 11:34 AM) Wait, don't tie breaker's only come into play where there are multiple spots for the playoffs? As I understand it, if the Sox and Twins are tied for the division and the wild card is already decided (for example Boston is the WC) there would be a tie breaking game because they would battling for one spot. On the other hand, if the Sox and Twins tied for the division but one would take the wild card, then the WC would be determined by the tie breaker. In other words, if Boston wins the WC, you can't lose the division by tie breaker. what happens if its a 3-way tie? Say the White Sox and Twins finish with 92 wins for a division tie. And the Red Sox finish with 92 wins for a 3-way tie for the wild card. How does that work?
  13. Just looking at the September schedules and by the looks of things, Boston has the hardest of the 3. Here are the remaining schedules: Sox: 2 @ Baltamore 3 @ Boston 3 @ Cleveland 3 vs LA Angels 4 vs Toronto 3 vs Detroit 4 @ New York 3 @ KC 3 @ Minny 3 vs Cleveland Minny: 2 @ Seattle 4 @ Oakland 3 @ Toronto 3 vs Detroit 3 vs KC 3 @ Baltamore 3 @ Cleveland 4 @ Tampa 3 vs Sox 3 vs KC Boston: 3 @ New York 3 vs Chicago 3 vs Baltamore 3 @ Texas 3 vs Tampa 3 vs Toronto 3 @ Tampa 3 @ Toronto 4 vs Cleveland 3 vs New York Italics = semi tough Bold = very tough After the crazy road trip the Twins schedule eases down a lot. So paying attention to Boston makes a lot of sense as we could definitley make the wildcard if the Twins go on another winning rampage.
  14. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 01:16 PM) if we win just 1 game in the twink-dome, we'll have only lost 1 game in the standings to them, which means if we enter that series with a 1 game lead, we could lose two of three and still be tied for first heading into cleveland I hope we are 2 games up (at least) going into that key series. If so all we would have to do is win 1 out of 3 to stay 1 game ahead going into that final series at home vs Cleveland. Minny finishes the year off at home vs KC. Did you guys know in the entire month of August no team has had more than a 1 game lead? That is crazy.... What a crazy race this is going to continue to be.
  15. Does the game start from the top of the order? Or where they left off?
  16. This bat is delicous, but its awefully filling!
  17. Does this even garuntee he will play everyday? Crede hasn't been himself defensively all year, making bad throws, bobbling balls etc.... He was fine in April and May. But he was obviously playing hurt in June, July when he started to struggle offensivley. Are they SURE he is 100%? Because if not, they better put Uribe back there. Because a half-broke Crede is MUCH worse than an offensivley challanged/ phenomal defensive Uribe.
  18. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 12:14 AM) How awkward will a walk-off be, where no one in the stands celebrates with the "home" team? I was just thinkin the same thing.... I really hope we see that!! Do the Sox wear the road uniforms or the home uniforms for the first game? It would sure be silly to change pants after a quick game.
  19. Good teams rebound against good teams. They have done a pretty good job of doing that so far this season and they need to do it again! BTW there goes our theory of the Twins sucking on the road...
  20. All the new guys KW added have made a huge impact of some sort: 1) Orlando Cabrera- Brought his gold glove over, brought his winning attitude and has done a great job being up at the #1 spot in the order( a spot he isn't used to). His numbers are solid at .271 avg, 18 SBs, 7 HR and 50 RBI. 2) Nick Swisher- Brought his competitive goofy loosness to the clubhouse while contributing in many roles this season- CF, 1B and occasionally LF and RF. He struggled offensively for awhile but caught a few hot streaks and appears to be getting hot behind the plate again. .237 AVG, .356 OBP, 20 HR and 61 RBI. 3. Octavio Dotel- This guy has been awesome almost all season long. This guy brings the fire and is right up in the baseball ranks for Ks (76). His 3.40 ERA will likely go down as the season moves on as a few bad games inflated that number. He has been an amazing 7th/8th inning bridge for Big Bobby Jenks. 4. Scott Linebrink- This guy has been great all season long! His recent absence in our bullpen let us all know just how important he is. His .092 WHIP is right up there with the best of them. His 19 holds 2.30 ERA are also impressive numbers. If the Sox are going to make another serious run at the title, they WILL need Linebrink healthy. The X-Factors 5. Carlos Quentin As John Miller said "Carlos Quentin has been a revelation on the South Side". Where would the Sox be without this force in our lineup? With the struggles of Thome, and Konerko this guy truly stepped it up and carried the load for the first 2 months of the season. And he didnt stop there, he has been consistent all year long and is in the running for MVP in 2008. His #s speak for themself: .294 AVG, .398 OBP, 35 HR, and 97 RBI. 6. Alexie Ramirez- Another suprise. This guy has been amazing since he became the consistent starter at 2b. How does a guy that wirery hit the ball that hard. His swing is close to perfection, his speed is uncanny and his defense is remarkable! We have found the SS of the future and he is here on the SouthSide for cheap for 3 more seasons! His #s speak for themselves: .309 AVG, 55 RBI and 14 HR are pretty amazing in just 100 games.... this guy will only get better as time goes on, and i cant wait! The early Christmas gift 7. Ken Griffey Jr.- The Sox wanted pitching, couldnt find anything worthy, so they decided to add another bat to decide to out-bash the opposition. So far it has been working! JR got his first White Sox HR yesterday and if this guy gets hot, and Konerko continues to improve, this may go down as one of the White Sox' deepest power team i have ever seen. I was at a game last week, looking at our lineup and seeing Cabrera, AJ, Quentin, Dye, Thome, Konerko, Ramirez, Griffey, Uribe.... with Swish on the bench, i was like WoW were powerful. So yes KW has made ALL the right moves and i couldnt be more greatful.... however, were not done here... if dont make the playoffs, none of this matters IMO...gotta keep that bus moving.
  21. IMO "UH OHHHHH BYE BYE!!" was corny but yet catchy.... the "Going-Going-GONE!" does seem fake... I wonder if Hawk made him stop saying "UH OOOOOOH" I actually had everyone at my old work say that all the time lmao.... Good memories... maybe if we write and sign a petition DJ will say it down the stretch...the White Sox organization is great at responding to mass Sox fan requests...
  22. whats up with D-Wise? Is it serious? If so whose coming up? Hopefully another speedy dude...
  23. After listening to Rick Hahn over the weekend, that was pleanty of reassurance for why they didnt go out and get a guy like Byrd or Washburn. If they picked up a guy like Washburn it would take away the chance of going after a bigger fish this offseason. A guy like Sheets or perhaps Burnett... or it could take away for an oppurtunity for a guy to make a name for himself this season in hope for a chance for 2009 and beyond... So far Richard has looked pretty good and so has Broadway... Is Washburn/Byrd better than Richard/Broadway? They have experience in big games, but thats about it. We already have big game pitchers, the 5th slot is needed for a guy to throw 5-6 innings.... Hahn said once Harden and Sabathia were gone, there wasnt anyone left starting pitching wise out there that would make this club significantly better and I agree. I think the Sox are in a good possition what they have the rest of this season to get it done. And i like the fact to have an option at going after a bigger fish in the offseason.
  24. QUOTE (scenario @ Aug 19, 2008 -> 02:49 PM) Ibanez, Beltre, and Lopez have hit lefties better. Ichiro and most of the others hit righties better. But Ibanez and Beltre have feasted on lefties... those are the guys I would be most concerned about. (For example: Beltre hasn't done squat against righties this year (.666 OPS), but has a .927 vs. lefties.) awesum analysis. thanx man...
