  1. My main reason for keeping willie, is may, just maybe, he will learn to steal a base on command. If he could that would be huge! For example we are down by 1 in the 8th or 9th and we get a lead of single/walk put willie in there steal 2nd, sac to third, and then score on a sac fly. Tied Game. Maybe it is all a dream and i like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but it my mind that is adding a bunch of wins to a season. I guess i am just crazy
  2. Maybe i am missing something, but can some one explain to me why Willie NEEDS to be traded? I think he would be a perfect bench player, someone who could come in for late inning defensive replacement or pinch run and steal a base when neccessary. (i know he cant steal bases but with SPod and Tim Raines training him I am hoping for the best) Or even come in to pinch run for a man on third when a sac fly is needed. Or maybe just maybe get a bunt down in a situation when it is pertenent. i know a lot of that is wishful thinking that he has improved (the stealing and bunting) But it seems like he has to much speed, something you cant teach just to get rid of. And frankly, i dont think there is a huge demand for a Willie Harris right now. But if I am missing something please share. Nick
  3. I heard the interview with Garland today and it was nothing earth shattering. The jist of it was that he did not work on anything new mechanically but he is more stable mentally vowing not to get rattled as easily. He also likes the sox new manufacturing attitude saying it will be easier to come back in games by getting men on base and then getting them home rather than hitting 4 home runs. He also said he has no problem being the 5th starter because it is only a number and it only really is the 5th starter the first time through the rotation. He thought the story about AJP kneeing the trainer in the balls was funny. And B&B asked him about his comments about the fans last year and he said they were never meant to be as bad as they were. He is a competiter and wants to win just as bad as everyone else and the fans need to understand that he "didn't mean to give up that homerun" and have a bad outing and they need to give him a little slack because he is facing professional hitters. The comments about the fans was the only part i thought was interesting and all he asked for was a little slack. We will see if that happens and actually came over as a nice guy is has a big mouth and doesnt really care what people think of him. It was an ok interview
  4. i absolutely LOVE hawk! And even though he is a homer he still criticizes the players when they deserve it. i think of hawk as a regular sox fan that happens to be on tv and gets to interact with the players. It seems like he talks and acts just like any other sox fan would act with the cheering during excitement and the pissed off tone of voice when the sox are sucking it up. I think he is perfect.
  5. Go with ISU if accepted, i mean look at our rich baseball traditon! Neal Cotts and Dan Kolb! j/k It is a great school though, i graduated last Dec and i miss it every day
  6. It wasnt scheduled with against the cubs games because a lot of the workers from wrigley also work at the cell so it wasnt doable.
  7. Totally agree with you. I watch/go to baseball games to get AWAY from things in the real word. That is why i really dislike any playing of God bless America and any special changes. Baseball has a set of rules and traditions that should not be changed for anything. Like 9 innings, that has been a rule forever, and a seventh inning strech, with take me out to the ballgame, that had become a great tradition. I have no problem with honoring 9/11 but please dont do it anywhere near baseball or any event that had NOTHING to do with it. Have a nice ceremony at the scene of the towers or a special on TV but dont change the game.
