  1. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 10:48 AM) Today's lineup, per Scott Reifert's blog... Mackowiak, CF I understand ozzie wants more lefties in the lineup, but BA looked great the other night and i think Mackowiak is much more valuable coming off the bench (he can play pretty much any position). I know it is early to start b****ing about ozzie's lineups, and i know we will see stuff like this all season, but I really want to see BA get as many at bats as possible.
  2. They had a fly by last august when we beat the yanks and Randy johnson and it was equally awesome. I thought that one was so great that i was expecting this one and it didnt scare me as much. My girlfriend, though, nearly s*** her pants. The flyovers at the cell are really unbelievable and should be there for every big game. It really gets the crowd going.
  3. I was at the park and the people at home definitely missed out, but there really was no way around it, unless they did a split screen, half on the video and half on the banners. it is a tough situation and i guess comcast thought that people cared more about the banners because in fact, that was what the ceremony was for. it was a lose-lose situation, if they didnt show the banners than people would be b****ing about that too. On a light note, i thought ESPNs video at the begining was awesome, i was happy to watch that this morning. Anyone know the song in that video?
  4. oh well i guess lower level is gone. but i thought any thing is good since i thought it has been sold out for weeks.
  5. I was just browsing whitesox.com and i searched for tickets for tuesday and there are now lower level seats available. When i searched for best available they gave me sec 154 row 13! So if anyone is interested, i would look now before they are gone!
  6. That just ruined my day. the only sitcom on tv worth watching gone forever. RIP AD
  7. As a side note from this SI issue, that actually deals with the sox, in the Hot and Cold section #1 on the COLD list is Chicago baseball! I could understand if they said the Cubs were cold, but come on! The sox just won the world series and have sold 2.2 million tickets. How could SI say the sox are cold just because of a s***ty spring training record? Just a little rant. Go back to taking about Soxtalk's new fame.
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 21, 2006 -> 09:16 AM) You do realize how far apart all of those things are, right? You are talking about 3-4 more hours of driving to get to either of them, plus Cedar Point and the football HOF are no where near each other either. Kings Island is in the Cincy area, and woudn't be too far away. I know that they are pretty far apart, but i figured that i am never in Ohio so why not kill 2 birds with one stone. (And it is an excuse for my girlfriend to come with and pay -- she is not the biggest baseball fan.) So I guess I am still planning out the whole trip and i dont know if it is going to work
  9. I was actually looking at tickets tonight. There are still tons of tickets available so i didnt buy anything yet -- but i will soon. I am planning on going to one game and then going up to Cedar Point amusement park the other day. I have never been there but I hear they have some great roller coasters. I might run over to Canton OH to see the Pro Football Hall of Fame (if it is on the way). I just wish they were playing pittsburgh that tues, wed, thurs before so i could make a whole road trip. But they arn't, oh well.
  10. My personal favorite was BA in the background with his arms crossed. BA just cracks me up.
  11. I got a 360 right after newyears. It is solid, but not a noticeable difference over ps2 or xbox. i have to wait to august to get my HDTV, that is where the real beauty is. And the only game i really play is Madden and 06 for 360 and it is very bare bones this year, 07 is what i am really waiting for.

    So yeah...

congrats, when i was looking for grad schools that test always scared me, so i kept looking and I finally found one where it wasnt required. All i had to do is write a little essay. Thanks, Loyola!
  13. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?id=2366973 A nice story about AJ. It gives AJ an opportunity to tell his side of the story on a lot of the controversy and has some good and funny quotes. Here is mine by Jon, it is so true and it really shows why he is such a leader on the team.
  14. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) Way to throw 30,000+ people into the same exact group I am just giving you guys a hard time. I have lots of friends and relatives that go (or went there) and almost all of them have the same attitude towards ISU. As soon as you tell them ISU they say, "oh I Screwed Up?" Giving you the impression that since it is not U of I it doesnt matter. Oh well, that is just my 2 cents, not that it really matters.
  15. my question is, Why the HECK are you visiting the AZ cardinals website!!!????
  16. I graduated from ISU a little more than a year ago and I must say that I loved it there. I thought everything was great except the athletics (no one cares and no one goes to the games). It is a big school but it seriously feels like a small school. When i went there everyone was friendly and did not take themselves to seriously and think they are better than everyone else (like a certain Big Ten school down I-74, cough... U of I...cough). In terms of the social life. When I went there there were house parties every thursday, fri, and sat for those under 21 (i have heard the cops have gotten a lot more tough on them since i left, so dont quote me on it). And for those over 21, the only bar in Normal was the Pub II (not my favorite place). I prefered the bars of downtown Bloomington, where there are at least a dozen different bars depending on your interests and what you are looking for (it is a short cab ride away). Overall, ISU is a great school with friendly people, but not the most school spirit or team pride.
  17. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 09:52 AM) http://www.sheendigital.com/alba/ * Not for the faint of heart. wow! you are definitely right about that.
  18. I am really sorry to hear that because this really means a lot to kids. i grew up in a HUGE cubs family but my first team in 1989 when i was 8 was the Sox, I was also assigned number 13. So the rest is history. I fell in love with the sox and Ozzie. Luckily my family didnt resist much when i switched sides. So if i were you, you should do as much as possible to make sure your kid doesnt switch sides.
  19. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 09:24 AM) * KW pretty much admitted that we almost landed Griffey at the trade deadline last season, without actually saying Griffey's name because that would be against MLB rules. Where would he play?
  20. I was at water tower place over the weekend and at the FinishLine there they had Konerko and Thome jerseys. But these were not any ordinary jersey, these are the alternate throwbacks they are wearing on sundays this year. (I think 1906) They were pretty sweet!
  21. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 11:01 PM) So you're saying what Frank has said has been worse than William Ligue? Worse than the White-flag trade? Worse than the teams constant underachieving for 4 years up until 2005? Frank Thomas's attitude is why the NBA has a dress code? Frank Thomas's attitude is why there was an NHL lockout? Maybe his poor attitude is also why college basketball coaches are covering up murders? Oh and maybe his attitude caused Jayson Williams to kill his limo driver? Maybe it even put Kobe over the edge and made him rape that woman. I'm even willing to wager that Frank being a prima donna is why Urbina slashed people, put gasoline on them, and then torched them? I'm pretty sure Ron Artest was so disappointed with Frank that he went into the stands in Detroit to beat some ass. Ok first, he may not have been as bad as Ligue and the other knuckleheads who ran on the field, but yeah i will say that his nonsense is worse than the white-flag trade (it worked out in the long run) and the underachieving teams (he was part of them). Second, almost all of the example you gave have nothing to do with the actual sport -- unlike Frank. The examples you gave mostly have to do with bad people away from the sport (murders, rape, etc) so there really is no comparison. Frank's attitude makes the sport of baseball look bad because they always have to do with baseball and him not getting his way, which makes the whole franchise look bad. It is even worse because Frank was the "face" of the team. When your face is such an asshole, it really makes you wonder about the rest of the team and franchise.
  22. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 10:51 PM) Individually, Frank is the best thing to happen to White Sox baseball. Are you kidding me? Over the past decade Frank's off-the-field antics and big mouth have been the worst thing for the franchise. From his comments about Jackie Robinson to his doctor's note to now this. He is a prima donna and his personality is everything that is wrong with sports. You think it was a coincidence that the team meshed so well last year -- with out frank?
  23. Again, i am one of few who will boo him. And the more i think about it, the more i think i will cheer. I will cheer because he is gone. Cheer because i dont have to put up with his immature baby bulls***. Sure he hit a few homeruns but with out him the sox still would have made the playoffs and won the world series. Hell, maybe we would have even won a few more games. (Frank hit about .220 compared to Carl's .250, so the law of averages says that we would have 3 more hits over those 100 at-bats, 3 hits that could have won games.) He was a great hitter who used to be my favorite player, i even cheered for him when he came back against the Angels. I thought it was a new mature Frank. But i was wrong, so please Frank, get lost. And when you do come back i will boo you. Not because of anything you did on the field but because of the head aches you have caused. And i believe that assholes need to be booed, just to let them know how we truely feel.
  24. Right now i am the only vote for Boo him and I will be there on his first game back. The way i figure it is that now is the time to boo him and show him how frustrating a person he is despite what he did on the field. When (and if) he comes back to get his number retired that is when i will be there to cheer and give him a standing O. Also he is playing for the f***ing A's. We always get whooped by the A's. I will never root for anyone on the A's no matter who they are. So if I dont boo (1 person out of 40,000 wont do much) I will sit there saying nothing.
  25. I got my Ozzie plan tickets in the mail today. It really makes today even more of a great day!
