Happy Birthday!

QUOTE(juddling @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 12:59 AM) my wife and i have read all the books and we generally have liked them. i thought the latest book was pretty weak compared to the the last few but it looks like it was designed to set up the last book with should be about 1500 pages long in order to wrap up all the loose ends. I agree with you I thought the 6th one dragged a bit which seems to be the consensus - people either thought it dragged or loved it. But I think JK Rowling said a while back shortly after she finished Book 6 that it was essentially Part 1 of 2 with Book 7 obviously being Part 2. So, I'm looking forward to getting Book 7 in two years.

I'm totally in love with these books. My personal favorite is the 3rd followed closely by the 5th, but most people I know say the 4th is their favorite. Yeah, I'm a total nerd in that I've read 1-5 twice and 6 took me a day. So far there are 3 movies and the 4th one comes out November 18 and it looks like it's gonna be even better than the 3rd. Also, I agree with Josh, the books aren't really kids books, especially the 4th on, but Rowling did say she didn't write them to be kids books.

Half my school is Red Sox fans and I swear being around all them is the reason why I've grown to hate the Red Sox and their fans. I've only found a few Red Sox fans that I can tolerate. The rest I want to punch. They act so much like Cubs fans. And they walk around with this idea that anyone who doesn't like the Red Sox is obviously stupid. GRR

This first half has been something I could not have imagined happening. Here's to a second half that's just as exciting. Go Sox! Don't stop now!

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 10:45 PM) It's just one of my 2 steppers, but I love this picture. I saved it as SoxMFINpride ; this team's just great. Very Cool.

A lot. Whenever I could I voted like crazy. Lucky for me, my boss had trouble finding work for me, so while she was finding something for me to do. I voted.
-
Great job everyone! We did it! I love the fact that Scott beat out two Yankees players!
-
I've been voting whenever I can tonight. We gotta get this one! I've even got people who aren't huge baseball fans voting.

I hope it works out for her. Yeah, even though I know I'll be paying back my loans for a long time, I don't think I'll ever regret going to GW because the experience I got by being in DC are well worth the price.
-
Aw, man, I totally feel for her. I go to George Washington which has the unfortunate title of "Most Expensive School in the Country" (luckily, I'm not in the bunch paying that much. My tuition is about the same as your sister-in-law's). Anyway, I have to fight fin aid every year, so here's what I can offer. Call the school's fin aid office. First, she should call the fin aid office and ask what needs to be done for an appeal. Usually, in the end the school will find something else to give her. Have her make it clear to them that she cannot pay what they are asking. (GW always does.) If that still does not help enough, then have her ask the fin aid people for information about outside loans. They'll have all the information. But I definitely recommend trying the appeal first to try to avoid having a ridiculous number of loans. I hope that helps some. Tell Her Good Luck! I just got my fin aid package yesterday. Of course they cut it, while tuition went up, and the amount we're able to pay stayed the same. At least I only gotta find enough for one semester.

QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 11:06 PM) I was at the game today (thanks for Alex and Jason for gettin me into the 100 level), the stadium was absolutely electric in the 9th, even before they scored any runs. It was one of the best games I've ever been to. I was there tonight too, and I agree. That game was one of the best I've been to. The crowd was great. I LOVE THIS TEAM!!
