  1. If you have the Padres and Dodgers challenging each other for Berrios... then watch out, the Twins will get a big time prospect haul. Both teams loaded with prospects, trying to gain SP advantage over the other. This could get big. My guess is the Padres ultimately one up the dodgers as they have a propensity to trade their prospects for good SP like this. Fucking love what they are doing. Hearing these rumors i'm almost sure that Berrios will go to one of those clubs. Dodgers have insane motivation to gain SP now with the Bauer situation and Padres will do anything they can to stop them from getting this top arm.
  2. Looks like 2017. Sure, a bit of time ago -- but a talented defender like himself can handle it as a backup to Moncada. We'd be using him mainly for RF anyway. Eloy DH, Vaughn LF, Robert CF, Gallo RF... i'm drolling.
  3. I feel like there's been some smoke for Story for whatever reason. Seems like if they wanted Escobar or felt safe with him, we'd already have him. I'd love if they went after Gallo... been saying it for 1.5 years, that guy would be ideal for us and this year proves that point so greatly. Left handed power bat that plays RF/3b/1b with good defense and moderate speed. Hell yeah. Also, this year IIRC we've struggled with power... well Gallo rocks that. Additionally, Gallo has great OBP which goes well with what the White Sox like about Grandal. Just love the fit. Bullpen help should be 100% guranteed. It costs basically nothing to grab some bullpen arms.
  4. I can't wait to see who the White Sox bring in. The hype is unreal. Story? Sweet. Escobar? Awesome. Maybe a surprise Starlin Marte/Gallo type? Hell yeah. Just GO for it! Is all I ask.
  5. Padres have that depth. It's also important to remember that in 2020 there were no minor leagues. So teams evaluating these minor league players in trades are going to go with their own personal evaluations. It's been said that in this trade deadline there's going to be a lot of trades where we are wondering wtf kind of return is that... only for a few years to pass and those players to surprise us. I'd imagine the Pirates feel strongly about what they got from the Padres in that sense.
  6. I am so happy to root for Hendriks and Lynn for the next few years.
  7. even espn announcers are like wtf are you doing throwing liam 6 outs
  8. This has been horribly managed, glad you all are discussing it here so I don't have to. But my God. TLR = F-.
  9. Not only that... most of sox twitter is arguing over whether we can acquire a 2b OR bullpen help... we should be acquiring BOTH 2b AND bullpen help.
  10. Welp, the White Sox don't have the minor league ammunition to top excellent systems like the Rays/Padres. It's very very unfortunate, but true. Just gotta hope the chips fall pleaseantly on us. Hate feeling like we get sloppy seconds or have to overpay constantly.
  11. What's in it for the nats? Burger? Burger to take on Keuchel's salary?
  12. As others have said... the only thing that matters is making the playoffs. That's really it. The fact is, the white sox are a shoe in, maybe the most obvious team in the league to make the playoffs due to the opposition in the central division basically giving up already. Fine tuning the team is important and we should all be incredibly frustrated if the trade deadline passes us with no improvements, but we still have a week to go to make those decisions. Losing a few games in a row to quality teams is not a tell-tale sign of anything. Losing 2 games in MIL to their elite starting pitching combined with weird umpire decisions hardly tells us anything.
  13. This umpire bullshit combined with the massive injuries around the league make it REALLY difficult to be a passionate baseball fan these days...
  14. This is ridiculous. Ump should call safe or out at home as well.
  15. Elevated injury risk? Do you see his on pace numbers this year?? Guy is insane. Splitting hairs between top 5 or so is difficult for anyone, anyway
  16. Gio with only 55 pitches thrown... gotta keep him in. NL needs DH.
  17. I need more juicy rumors :(. Come on!!!
  18. I'd be in if the price wasn't an overpay. Otherwise, Pass.
  19. If we want to be a prominent team in mlbs future we need to trade and sign bryant long term he is one of the few faces of beisbol
  20. Marte has popped seasons of .840+ OPS and is currently a top 45ish WAR player right now. Has an extremely long track record of success with batting average. Brian Goodwin has a hot flash every year and then goes back to being useless. Marte is a professional RFer.
  21. Merrifield will cost a lot more as his contract is longer term, I feel.
  22. I like your thoughts in this thread! For me, Escobar >>>>> Alex Frazier. I just think Esco is better and will cost significantly less due to year of control. I also feel Marte is an important get. Adding a legit OF stud, while not critically important, is something a world series contending team like the CWS should do. Just a month or so ago we were looking at our outfield in absolute disgust. It's been nice getting a strong Engel back, having Burger/Sheets perform in the short term, and Goodwin performing, but even with Robert/Eloy coming back it can all fall a part very quickly. If those two aren't up to speed and the rest fall back, having Marte as a rental would be clutch.
  23. I can't believe we are sitting here and our biggest need is RP's. It's so sad from where we started. Imagine this teams record with it's reliver performing up to expectations. Does it add 5 wins? more? Does anyone else feel like adding relievers, while low risk, is a bit boring and unpredictable? I mean these guys have so few innings that the stats are not really trustworthy. I know we will probably add 1 or 2 RP arms and that's good, but it really doesn't matter to me at all.
